1 B el se prăbuşeşte, Nebo cade; idolii lor sînt puşi pe vite şi dobitoace; idolii pe cari -i purtaţi voi au ajuns o sarcină, o povară pentru vita obosită!

¶ Bel bowed down; Nebo is fallen; their images were placed upon animals and upon beasts of burden that will carry you, laden with yourselves, burden of weariness.

2 A u căzut, s'au prăbuşit împreună, nu pot să scape povara; ei înşişi se duc în robie.

They stoop, they are fallen together; they could not escape from the burden, and their soul had to go into captivity.

3 A scultaţi-Mă, casa lui Iacov, şi toată rămăşiţa casei lui Israel, voi, pe cari v'am luat în spinare dela obîrşia voastră, pe cari v'am purtat pe umăr dela naşterea voastră:

Hearken unto me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, which are borne by me from the belly, which are carried from the womb:

4 p înă la bătrîneţa voastră Eu voi fi Acelaş, pînă la cărunteţele voastre vă voi sprijini. V'am purtat, şi tot vreau să vă mai port, să vă sprijinesc şi să vă mîntuiesc.

And even to your old age I am he, and even to grey hairs I will carry you; I have made, and I will bear; I will carry and will deliver you.

5 C u cine Mă veţi pune alături, ca să Mă asemănaţi? Cu cine Mă veţi asemăna, şi mă veţi potrivi?

¶ To whom will ye liken me and make me equal and compare me that we may be alike?

6 E i varsă aurul din pungă, şi cîntăresc argintul în cumpănă; tocmesc un arginatar să facă un dumnezeu din ele, şi se închină şi îngenunche înaintea lui.

They lavish gold out of the bag and weigh silver in the balance and hire a goldsmith, and he makes it a god; they fall down and worship.

7 Î l poartă, îl iau pe umăr, îl pun la locul lui; acolo rămîne, şi nu se mişcă din locul lui. Apoi strigă la el, dar nu răspunde, nici nu -i scapă din nevoie.

They bear him upon the shoulder, they carry him and set him in his place. There he is; he does not move from his place; they cry unto him, and neither does he answer, nor save from the tribulation.

8 Ţ ineţi minte aceste lucruri, şi fiţi oameni! Veniţi-vă în fire, păcătoşilor.``

Remember this, and be ashamed, bring it again to mind, O ye transgressors.

9 A duceţi-vă aminte de cele petrecute în vremile străbune; căci Eu sînt Dumnezeu, şi nu este altul, Eu sînt Dumnezeu, şi nu este niciunul ca Mine.

Remember the former things of old, for I am God, and there is no one else; I am God, and there is no one like me,

10 E u am vestit dela început ce are să se întîmple şi cu mult înainte ce nu este încă împlinit. Eu zic:, Hotărîrile Mele vor rămînea în picioare, şi Îmi voi aduce la îndeplinire toată voia Mea.

declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

11 E u chem dela răsărit o pasăre de pradă, dintr'o ţară depărtată, un om ca să împlinească planurile Mele: da, Eu am spus, şi Eu voi împlini; Eu am plănuit şi Eu voi înfăptui.

Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executes my counsel from a far country; I have spoken it; I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it; I will also do it.

12 A scultaţi-Mă, oameni cu inima împietrită, vrăjmaşi ai neprihănirii!

Hearken unto me, ye hard of heart, that are far from righteousness;

13 E u Îmi apropii neprihănirea: nu este departe; şi mîntuirea Mea nu va zăbovi. Eu voi pune mîntuirea Mea în Sion şi slava Mea peste Israel.``

I cause my righteousness to come near; it shall not go away; and my salvation shall not be stayed: and I will place salvation in Zion; and my glory in Israel.
