1 V ai de cei ce se pogoară în Egipt după ajutor, se bizuiesc pe cai şi se încred în mulţimea carălor şi în puterea călăreţilor, dar nu privesc spre Sfîntul lui Israel, şi nu caută pe Domnul!

¶ Woe to those that go down to Egypt for help; and trust in horses and place their hope in chariots because they are many and in horsemen, because they are valiant, but they did not look unto the Holy One of Israel, neither did they seek the LORD!

2 D ar şi El, este înţelept şi aduce nenorocirea, şi nu Îşi ia vorbele înapoi, ci Se ridică împotriva casei celor răi, şi împotriva ajutorului celor ce săvîrşesc nelegiuirea.

Yet he also is wise to guide evil and will not cause his words to lie but will arise against the house of the evildoers and against the help of those that work iniquity.

3 C ăci Egipteanul este om nu Dumnezeu, şi caii lui sînt carne nu duh. Doar mîna să-Şi întindă Domnul, şi ocrotitorul se va clătina, iar cel ocrotit va cădea, şi vor pieri cu toţii.

Now the Egyptian is a man, and not God, and his horses flesh, and not spirit, so that as the LORD shall stretch out his hand, both he that helps shall fall, and he that is helped shall fall down, and they shall all fail together.

4 C ăci aşa mi -a vorbit Domnul:,, Cum mugeşte leul şi puiul de leu asupra prăzii, în ciuda tuturor păstorilor strînşi împotriva lui, şi nu se înspăimîntă de glasul lor, nici nu se sperie de numărul lor, aşa Se va pogorî şi Domnul oştirilor să lupte pe muntele Sionului şi pe dealul lui.

For thus has the LORD spoken unto me, Like the lion and the young lion roaring on his prey, even if a multitude of shepherds come forth against him, he will not be afraid of their voices, nor abase himself for the noise of them: so shall the LORD of the hosts come down to fight for Mount Zion and for his hill.

5 C um îşi întind păsările aripile peste puii lor, aşa va ocroti Domnul oştirilor Ierusalimul, îl va ocroti şi -l va izbăvi, îl va cruţa şi -l va mîntui.``

As birds flying, so will the LORD of the hosts defend Jerusalem; defending, delivering, passing over, and saving it.

6 l a Acela de la care v'aţi abătut mult, copii ai lui Israel.``

¶ Turn ye unto him against whom ye have deeply revolted, O sons of Israel.

7 C ăci în ziua aceea, fiecare îşi va lepăda idolii de argint şi de aur, pe cari vi i-aţi făcut cu mînile voastre nelegiuite.

For in that day every man shall cast away his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which your own hands have made unto you as a sin.

8 Ş i Asirianul va cădea ucis de o sabie, dar nu a unui om: îl va nimici o sabie, dar nu este a unui om; va fugi de sabie, şi tinerii lui războinici vor fi robiţi.

Then the Assyrian shall fall by the sword, not of a mighty man; and the sword, not of a mean man, shall devour him: but he shall flee from the presence of the sword, and his young men shall faint.

9 S tînca lui se va topi de groază, şi căpeteniile lui vor tremura înaintea steagului, -zice Domnul, -care Îşi are focul în Sion şi cuptorul în Ierusalim.``

And he shall pass over to his strong hold for fear, and his princes shall be afraid of the banner, saith the LORD, unto whom there is fire in Zion, and unto whom there is a furnace in Jerusalem.
