1 D avid a zis:,, A mai rămas cineva din casa lui Saul, ca să -i fac bine din pricina lui Ionatan?``

¶ And David said, Is anyone left of the house of Saul that I may show him mercy for Jonathan’s sake?

2 E ra un slujitor din casa lui Saul, numit Ţiba, pe care l-au adus la David. Împăratul i -a zis:,, Tu eşti Ţiba?`` Şi el a răspuns:,, Robul tău, da!``

And there was a servant of the house of Saul whose name was Ziba. And when they had called him unto David, the king said unto him, Art thou Ziba? And he said, Thy slave is he.

3 Î mpăratul a zis:,, Nu mai este nimeni din casa lui Saul, ca să mă port cu el cu o bunătate ca bunătatea lui Dumnezeu?`` Şi Ţiba a răspuns împăratului:,, Mai este un fiu al lui Ionatan, olog de picioare``.

And the king said, Is there no one left of the house of Saul that I may show the mercy of God unto him? And Ziba said unto the king, There remains a son of Jonathan, who is lame on his feet.

4 Î mpăratul a zis:,, Unde este?`` Şi Ţiba a răspuns împăratului:,, Este în casa lui Machir fiul lui Amiel, la Lodebar``.

And the king said unto him, Where is he? And Ziba said unto the king, Behold, he is in the house of Machir, the son of Ammiel, in Lodebar.

5 Î mpăratul David l -a trimes să -l ia din casa lui Machir, fiul lui Amiel, din Lodebar.

Then King David sent and took him out of the house of Machir, the son of Ammiel, from Lodebar.

6 Ş i Mefiboşet, fiul lui Ionatan, fiul lui Saul, a venit la David, a căzut cu faţa la pămînt, şi s'a închinat. David a zis:,, Mefiboşet!`` Şi el a răspuns:,, Iată robul tău!``

Now when Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, was come unto David, he fell on his face and worshipped. And David said, Mephibosheth. And he answered, Behold thy slave!

7 D avid i -a zis:,, Nu te teme, căci vreau să-ţi fac bine din pricina tatălui tău Ionatan. Îţi voi da înapoi toate pămînturile tatălui tău Saul, şi vei mînca totdeauna la masa mea``.

And David said unto him, Fear not; for I will surely show thee mercy for Jonathan, thy father’s sake, and will restore unto thee all the land of Saul, thy father; and thou shalt eat bread at my table continually.

8 E l s'a închinat, şi a zis:,, Cine este robul tău, ca să te uiţi la un cîne mort ca mine?``

And he bowed himself and said, Who is thy slave, that thou should look upon such a dead dog as I am?

9 Î mpăratul a chemat pe Ţiba, slujbaşul lui Saul, şi i -a zis:,, Dau fiului stăpînului tău tot ce era al lui Saul şi tot ce avea toată casa lui.

¶ Then the king called to Ziba, Saul’s servant, and said unto him, I have given unto thy master’s son all that pertained to Saul and to all his house.

10 T u să lucrezi pămînturile pentru el, tu, fiii tăi, şi robii tăi, şi să strîngi rodurile, ca fiul stăpînului tău să aibă pîne de mîncare; şi Mefiboşet, fiul stăpînului tău, va mînca totdeauna la masa mea``. Şi Ţiba avea cincisprezece fii şi douăzeci de robi.

Thou, therefore, and thy sons and thy slaves shall till the land for him, and thou shalt bring in the fruits that thy master’s son may have bread to eat, but Mephibosheth, thy master’s son, shall eat bread always at my table. Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty slaves.

11 E l a zis împăratului:,, Robul tău va face tot ce porunceşte împăratul, domnul meu, robului său``. Şi Mefiboşet a mîncat la masa lui David, ca unul din fiii împăratului.

Then Ziba said unto the king, According to all that my lord the king has commanded his slave, so shall thy slave do. As for Mephibosheth, said the king, he shall eat at my table as one of the king’s sons.

12 M efiboşet avea un fiu mic, numit Mica, şi toţi ceice locuiau în casa lui Ţiba erau robii lui Mefiboşet.

And Mephibosheth had a young son, whose name was Micha. And all that dwelt in the house of Ziba were servants unto Mephibosheth.

13 M efiboşet locuia la Ierusalim, căci mînca totdeauna la masa împăratului. El era olog de amîndouă picioarele.

So Mephibosheth dwelt in Jerusalem, for he ate continually at the king’s table and was lame on both his feet.
