1 D uhul lui Dumnezeu a venit peste Azaria, fiul lui Oded,

¶ And the Spirit of God came upon Azariah, the son of Oded;

2 ş i Azaria s'a dus înaintea lui Asa, şi i -a zis:,, Ascultaţi-mă, Asa, şi tot Iuda şi Beniamin! Domnul este cu voi cînd sînteţi cu El; dacă -L căutaţi, Îl veţi găsi; iar dacă -L părăsiţi, şi El vă va părăsi.

and he went out to meet Asa and said unto him, Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: The LORD is with you, while ye are with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.

3 M ultă vreme Israel a fost fără Dumnezeul cel adevărat, fără preot care să înveţe pe oameni, şi fără lege.

For many days Israel has been without the true God, and without a priest and without a teacher and without law,

4 D ar în mijlocul strîmtorării lor s'au întors la Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel, L-au căutat, şi L-au găsit.

but when they in their trouble turned unto the LORD God of Israel and sought him, he was found of them.

5 Î n vremile acelea, nu era linişte pentru cei ce se duceau şi veneau, căci erau mari turburări printre toţi locuitorii ţării;

And in those times there was no peace to him that went out, nor to him that came in, but great destruction upon all the inhabitants of the lands.

6 u n popor se bătea împotriva altui popor, o cetate împotriva altei cetăţi, pentrucă Dumnezeu le turbura cu tot felul de strîmtorări:

And one Gentile destroyed the other, and one city the other; for God discomforted them with all adversity.

7 v oi dar, întăriţi-vă, şi nu lăsaţi să vă slăbească mînile, căci faptele voastre vor avea o răsplată.``

Be ye strong, therefore, and do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded.

8 D upăce a auzit aceste cuvinte şi proorocia lui Oded, proorocul, Asa s'a întărit şi a îndepărtat urîciunile din toată ţara lui Iuda şi Beniamin şi din cetăţile pe cari le luase în muntele lui Efraim, şi a înoit altarul Domnului care era înaintea pridvorului Domnului.``

¶ And when Asa heard the words and prophecy of Oded, the prophet, he was comforted and put away the abominations out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin and out of the cities which he had taken in Mount Ephraim and repaired the altar of the LORD, that was before the porch of the LORD.

9 A strîns pe tot Iuda şi Beniamin, şi pe cei din Efraim, din Manase şi din Simeon, cari lociau printre ei, căci un mare număr dintre oamenii lui Israel au trecut la el cînd au văzut că Domnul, Dumnezeul lui, era cu el.

And he gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and the strangers with them out of Ephraim and Manasseh, and out of Simeon, for many of Israel had gone over to him, when they saw that the LORD his God was with him.

10 S 'au adunat la Ierusalim în luna a treia a anului al cincisprezecelea al domniei lui Asa. În ziua aceasta,

So they gathered themselves together at Jerusalem in the third month, in the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa.

11 a u jertfit Domnului, din prada pe care o aduseseră: şapte sute de boi şi şapte mii de oi.

And they offered unto the LORD the same day, of the spoil which they had brought, seven hundred oxen and seven thousand sheep.

12 A u făcut legămînt să caute pe Domnul, Dumnezeul părinţilor lor, din toată inima şi din tot sufletul lor;

And they entered into a covenant to seek the LORD God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul;

13 ş i oricine nu căuta pe Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel, trebuia omorît, fie mic fie mare, fie bărbat fie femeie.

that whoever would not seek the LORD God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.

14 A u jurat credinţă Domnului, cu glas tare, cu strigăte de bucurie, şi cu sunet de trîmbiţe şi de buciume;

And they swore unto the LORD with a loud voice, and with shouting and with trumpets and with shofar.

15 t ot Iuda s'a bucurat de jurămîntul acesta, căci juraseră din toată inima lor, căutaseră pe Domnul de bună voia lor, şi -L găsiseră. Şi Domnul le -a dat odihnă de jur împrejur.

And all those of Judah rejoiced at the oath, for they had sworn with all their heart and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them; and the LORD gave them rest round about.

16 Î mpăratul Asa n'a lăsat nici chiar pe mamă-sa Maaca să mai fie împărăteasă, pentrucă făcuse un idol Astartei. Asa i -a dărîmat idolul, pe care l -a făcut praf, şi l -a ars lîngă pîrîul Chedron.

And also concerning Maachah, the mother of Asa the king, he removed her from being queen because she had made an idol in a grove; and Asa cut down her idol and stamped it and burnt it at the brook Kidron.

17 D ar înălţimile tot n'au fost îndepărtate din Israel, măcar că inima lui Asa a fost în totul a Domnului în tot timpul vieţii lui.

But with all this the high places were not taken away out of Israel; nevertheless, the heart of Asa was perfect all his days.

18 A pus în Casa lui Dumnezeu lucrurile închinate Domnului de tatăl său şi de el însuş: argint, aur şi vase.

And he brought into the house of God the things that his father had dedicated and that he himself had dedicated, silver and gold and vessels.

19 N 'a fost niciun război pînă la al treizeci şi cincilea an al domniei lui Asa.

And there was no more war until the year thirty-five of the reign of Asa.
