1 Î n ziua aceea, Debora a cîntat această cîntare, cu Barac, fiul lui Abinoam:

¶ Then sang Deborah with Barak, the son of Abinoam, on that day, saying,

2 N işte căpetenii s'au pus în fruntea poporului în Israel, Şi poporul s'a arătat gata de luptă: Binecuvîntaţi pe Domnul!

Praise ye the LORD for the avenging of Israel, when the people willingly offered themselves.

3 A scultaţi, împăraţi! Luaţi aminte, domnitori! Voi cînta, da, voi cînta Domnului, Voi cînta din alăută Domnului, Dumnezeului lui Israel.

Hear, O ye kings. Give ear, O ye princes; I, even I, will sing unto the LORD; I will praise the LORD God of Israel.

4 D oamne, cînd ai ieşit din Seir, Cînd ai plecat din cîmpiile Edomului, Pămîntul s'a cutremurat, cerurile au picurat, Şi norii au turnat ape cu găleata;

LORD, when thou didst go out of Seir, when thou didst march out of the field of Edom, the earth trembled, and the heavens dropped; the clouds also dropped water.

5 M unţii s'au clătinat înaintea Domnului, Sinaiul acela s'a clătinat Domnului, Dumnezeului lui Israel``.

The mountains melted from before the LORD, even that Sinai from before the LORD God of Israel.

6 P e vremea lui Şamgar, fiul lui Anat, Pe vremea Iaelei drumurile erau părăsite, Şi călătorii apucau pe căi strîmbe.

¶ In the days of Shamgar, the son of Anath, in the days of Jael, the highways ceased, and those that walked went astray through crooked paths.

7 C ăpeteniile erau fără putere în Israel, fără putere, Pînă cînd m'am sculat eu, Debora, Pînă cînd m'am ridicat eu, ca o mamă în Israel.

The inhabitants of the villages ceased; they had ceased in Israel until I Deborah arose, I arose a mother in Israel.

10 V oi, cari călăriţi pe măgăriţe albe, Voi, cari şedeţi pe covoare, Şi voi, cari umblaţi pe drum, -cîntaţi!

Speak, ye that ride on white asses, ye that preside in judgment, and walk by the way.

11 A rcaşii, din mijlocul adăpătoarelor, Să laude cu glasul lor binefacerile Domnului, Binefacerile cîrmuirii Sale în Israel. Atunci poporul Domnului s'a pogorît la porţi:

Because of the noise of archers, taken from among those that draw water, there they shall retell the righteousnesses of the LORD, even the righteousnesses of his villages in Israel. Now shall the people of the LORD go down to the gates.

12 T rezeşte-te, trezeşte-te, Debora! Trezeste-te, trezeşte-te şi zi o cîntare! Scoală-te, Barac, Şi adu-ţi robii de război, Fiul lui Abinoam!

¶ Rise up, rise up, Deborah; rise up, rise up, sing a song. Stand up, Barak and lead thy captivity captive, thou son of Abinoam.

13 A tunci o rămăşiţă din popor a biruit pe cei puternici, Domnul mi -a dat biruinţa asupra celor viteji.

Now he has made the remnant of the people to have dominion over the magnificent; the LORD made me have dominion over the mighty.

14 D in Efraim au venit locuitorii lui Amalec. După tine a mers Beniamin în oştirea ta. Din Machir au venit căpeteniile, Şi din Zabulon cîrmuitorii.

Out of Ephraim came his root against Amalek; after thee, came Benjamin, against thy peoples; out of Machir came down princes; and from Zebulun, those that handle the pen of the writer.

15 M ai marii lui Isahar au fost cu Debora, Şi Isahar a venit după Barac, A fost trimes pe urma lui în vale. La pîraiele lui Ruben, Au fost mari hotărîri!

Also princes of Issachar were with Deborah; and Issachar, like Barak, went on foot into the valley. From the divisions of Reuben, great are the thoughts of the heart.

16 P entruce ai rămas în mijlocul staulelor

Why didst thou abide among the sheepfolds, to hear the bleatings of the flocks? From the divisions of Reuben great are the searchings of the heart.

17 G alaadul de dincolo de Iordan nu şi -a părăsit locuinţa. Pentruce a stat Dan pe corăbii? Aşer a stat pe malul mării, Şi s'a odihnit în limanurile lui.

Gilead remained on the other side of the Jordan, and why did Dan remain next to the ships? Asher continued on the sea shore and remained in his breaches.

18 Z abulon este un popor care a înfruntat moartea, Şi Neftali la fel, pe înălţimile din cîmpie.

Zebulun and Naphtali were a people that jeoparded their lives unto the death in the high places of the field.

19 Î mpăraţii au venit, s'au luptat; Atunci au luptat împăraţii Canaanului, La Tanaac, la apele Meghido; N'au luat nicio pradă, nici argint.

The kings came and fought; then the kings of Canaan fought in Taanach by the waters of Megiddo; they took no gain of money.

20 D in ceruri se luptau, De pe cărările lor stelele se luptau împotriva lui Sisera,

They fought from the heavens; the stars from their ways fought against Sisera.

21 P îrîul Chison i -a luat, Pîrîul din vremile străvechi, pîrîul Chison! Suflete, calcă-'n picioare pe viteji!

The river of Kishon swept them away, that ancient river, the river Kishon. Tread down, O my soul, with strength.

22 A tunci copitele cailor au răsunat De goana, de goana năbădăioasă a războinicilor lor.

Then were the hoofs of the horses broken by the means of the pransings, the pransings of their mighty ones.

23 B lestemaţi pe Meroza, a zis Îngerul Domnului, Blestemaţi, blestemaţi pe locuitorii lui; Căci n'au venit în ajutorul Domnului, În ajutorul Domnului, printre oamenii viteji``.

Curse ye Meroz, said the angel of the LORD, curse ye bitterly the inhabitants thereof because they did not come to the help of the LORD, to the help of the LORD against the mighty.

24 B inecuvîntată să fie între femei Iael, Nevasta lui Heber, Chenitul! Binecuvîntată să fie ea între femeile cari locuiesc în corturi!

¶ Blessed above women shall Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite, be; blessed shall she be above women in the tent.

25 E l a cerut apă, şi ea i -a a dat lapte; În pahar împărătesc i -a adus unt.

He asked water, and she gave him milk; she brought forth cream in a lordly dish.

26 C u o mînă a luat ţăruşul, Şi cu dreapta ciocanul lucrătorilor, A lovit pe Sisera, i -a despicat capul, I -a sfărîmat şi străpuns tîmpla.

She put her hand to the stake, and her right hand to the workmen’s hammer, and with the hammer she smote Sisera, she smote off his head when she had pierced and stricken through his temples.

27 E l s'a ghemuit: a căzut şi s'a culcat la picioarele ei; S'a ghemuit şi a căzut la picioarele ei; Acolo unde s'a ghemuit, acolo a căzut fără viaţă.

At her feet he bowed, he fell, he lay down; at her feet he bowed, he fell; where he bowed, there he fell down dead.

28 P e fereastră, prin zăbrele, Se uită mama lui Sisera, şi strigă:,, Pentruce zăboveşte carul lui să vină? Pentruce vin carăle lui aşa de încet?``

The mother of Sisera looked out the window and cried through the lattice, Why is his chariot so long in coming? Why do the wheels of his chariots tarry?

29 C ele mai înţelepte dintre femeile ei îi răspund, Şi ea îşi răspunde singură:

Her wise princesses answered her; and she even answered to herself,

30 N egreşit, au găsit pradă! Şi -o împărţesc: O fată, două fete de fiecare om; Pradă de haine văpsite pentru Sisera; Pradă de haine văpsite cusute la gherghef, Două haine văpsite şi cusute la gherghef, De pus pe grumazul biruitorului!``

Have they not found spoil and are dividing it? To each man a damsel or two; to Sisera a spoil of different colours, a spoil of different colours of needlework, of different colours of needlework on both sides, meet for the necks of those that take the spoil?

31 A şa să piară toţi vrăjmaşii Tăi, Doamne! Dar cei ce -L iubesc sînt ca soarele, cînd se arată în puterea lui``. Ţara a avut odihnă patruzeci de ani.

So let all thine enemies perish, O LORD, but let those that love thee be as the sun when he rises in all his might. And the land had rest forty years.
