1 D upă cîteva zile, Isus S'a întors în Capernaum. S'a auzit că este în casă,

¶ And again he entered into Capernaum after some days, and it was heard that he was in the house.

2 ş i s'au adunat îndată aşa de mulţi că nu putea să -i mai încapă locul dinaintea uşii. El le vestea Cuvîntul.

And soon many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door; and he preached the word unto them.

3 A u venit la el nişte oameni, cari I-au adus un slăbănog, purtat de patru inşi.

And they came unto him, bringing a paralytic, carried by four men.

4 F iindcă nu puteau să ajungă pînă la El, din pricina norodului, au desfăcut acoperişul casei unde era Isus, şi, după ce l-au spart, au pogorît pe acolo patul în care zăcea slăbănogul.

And when they could not come near unto him for the crowd, they uncovered the roof of the house where he was; and when they had broken it open, they let down the bed in which the paralytic lay.

5 C înd le -a văzut Isus credinţa, a zis slăbănogului:,, Fiule, păcatele îţi sînt iertate!``

When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the paralytic, Son, thy sins are forgiven thee.

6 U nii din cărturari, cari erau de faţă, se gîndeau în inimile lor:

But there were certain of the scribes sitting there and thinking in their hearts,

7 C um vorbeşte omul acesta astfel? Huleşte! Cine poate să ierte păcatele decît numai Dumnezeu?``

Why does this fellow so blaspheme? Who can forgive sins but God only?

8 Î ndată, Isus a cunoscut, prin duhul Său, că ei gîndeau astfel în ei, şi le -a zis:,, Pentru ce aveţi astfel de gînduri în inimile voastre?

And Jesus, knowing afterward in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, said unto them, Why think ye these things in your hearts?

9 C e este mai lesne: a zice slăbănogului:,, Păcatele îţi sînt iertate``, ori a zice:,, Scoală-te, ridică-ţi patul, şi umblă?``

What is easier to say to the paralytic, Thy sins are forgiven thee, or to say, Arise and take up thy bed and walk?

10 D ar, ca să ştiţi că Fiul omului are putere pe pămînt să ierte păcatele,

But that ye may know that the Son of man has power on earth to forgive sins (he spoke to the sick of the palsy),

11 î ţi poruncesc``, a zis El slăbănogului, -,, scoală-te, ridică-ţi patul, şi du-te acasă.``

I say unto thee, Arise and take up thy bed and go to thy house.

12 Ş i îndată, slăbănogul s'a sculat, şi -a ridicat patul, şi a ieşit afară în faţa tuturor; aşa că toţi au rămas uimiţi, şi slăveau pe Dumnezeu, şi ziceau:,, Niciodată n'am văzut aşa ceva!``

And by and by he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed and glorified God, saying, We never saw anything like unto this.

13 I sus a ieşit iarăş la mare. Toată mulţimea venea la El; şi El învăţa pe toţi.

¶ And he went again unto the sea; and all the multitude resorted unto him, and he taught them.

14 C înd trecea pe acolo, a văzut pe Levi, fiul lui Alfeu, şezînd la vamă. Şi i -a zis:,, Vino după Mine!`` Levi s'a sculat, şi a mers după El.

And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the receipt of custom and said unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him.

15 P e cînd şedea Isus la masă în casa lui Levi, mulţi vameşi şi păcătoşi au şezut şi ei la masă cu El şi cu ucenicii Lui; căci erau mulţi cari mergeau de obicei după El.

And it came to pass, that as Jesus sat at the table in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also at the table together with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many and they had followed him.

16 C ărturarii şi Fariseii, cînd L-au văzut mîncînd cu vameşii şi cu păcătoşii, au zis ucenicilor Lui:,, De ce mănîncă El şi bea cu vameşii şi cu păcătoşii?``

And the scribes and Pharisees, seeing him eat with publicans and sinners, said unto his disciples, How is it that he eats and drinks with publicans and sinners?

17 I sus, cînd a auzit acest lucru, le -a zis:,, Nu cei sănătoşi au trebuinţă de doftor, ci cei bolnavi. Eu am venit să chem la pocăinţă nu pe cei neprihăniţi, ci pe cei păcătoşi.``

When Jesus heard it, he said unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick; I came not to call the righteous, but the sinners to repentance.

18 U cenicii lui Ioan şi Fariseii obicinuiau să postească. Ei au venit şi au zis lui Isus:,, Pentruce ucenicii lui Ioan şi ai Fariseilor postesc, iar ucenicii Tăi nu postesc?``

¶ And the disciples of John and of the Pharisees did fast and therefore came and said unto him, Why do the disciples of John and of the Pharisees fast, but thy disciples fast not?

19 I sus le -a răspuns:,, Oare pot posti nuntaşii cîtă vreme este mirele cu ei? Cîtă vreme au pe mire cu ei, nu pot posti.

And Jesus said unto them, Can those who are in a wedding fast while the bridegroom is with them? as long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast.

20 V or veni zile, cînd va fi luat mirele dela ei, şi atunci vor posti în ziua aceea.

But the days will come when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then they shall fast in those days.

21 N imeni nu coase un petec de postav nou la o haină veche; altfel, petecul de postav nou rupe o parte din cel vechi, şi mai rea ruptură se face.

No one mends an old garment with a new piece of cloth, or else the new piece that filled it up tears away from the old, and the rent is made worse.

22 Ş i nimeni nu pune vin nou în burdufuri vechi; altfel, vinul cel nou sparge burdufurile, şi vinul se varsă, iar burdufurile se prăpădesc; ci vinul nou este pus în burdufuri noi.``

And no one pours new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine bursts the wineskins, and the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are lost; but new wine must be poured into new wineskins.

23 S 'a întîmplat că într'o zi de Sabat, Isus trecea prin lanurile de grîu. Ucenicii Lui, pe cînd mergeau, au început să smulgă spice de grîu.

And it came to pass that as he went through the planted fields again on the sabbath day, his disciples began, as they walked, to pluck the ears of grain.

24 F ariseii I-au zis:,, Vezi, de ce fac ei ce nu este îngăduit să facă în ziua Sabatului?``

And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful?

25 I sus le -a răspuns:,, Oare n'aţi citit niciodată ce a făcut David, cînd a fost în nevoie, şi cînd a flămînzit el şi cei ce erau împreună cu el?

And he said unto them, Have ye never read what David did when he had need and was hungry, he and those that were with him?

26 C um a intrat în Casa lui Dumnezeu, în zilele marelui preot Abiatar, şi a mîncat pînile pentru punerea înaintea Domnului, pe cari nu este îngăduit să le mănînce decît preoţii? Şi cum a dat din ele chiar şi celor ce erau cu el?

How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest and ate the showbread, which is not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave also to those who were with him?

27 A poi le -a zis:,, Sabatul a fost făcut pentru om, iar nu omul pentru Sabat;

And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath;

28 a şa că Fiul omului este Domn chiar şi al Sabatului.``

therefore the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath.
