1 A tunci Solomon a zis:,, Domnul a zis că vrea să locuiască în întunerec!

¶ Then Solomon said, The LORD has said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.

2 Ş i eu am zidit o casă care-Ţi va fi locuinţa, un loc unde vei locui în veci!``

I, therefore, have built a house of habitation for thee and a place for thy dwelling for ever.

3 Î mpăratul şi -a întors faţa, şi a binecuvîntat toată adunarea lui Israel. Şi toată adunarea lui Israel stătea în picioare.

And the king turned his face and blessed the whole congregation of Israel, and all the congregation of Israel was standing.

4 Ş i el a zis:,, Binecuvîntat să fie Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel, care a vorbit cu gura Sa tatălui meu David, şi a împlinit prin puterea Sa ce spusese, cînd a zis:

And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, who has with his hand fulfilled that which he spoke with his mouth to my father David, saying,

5 D in ziua cînd am scos pe poporul Meu din ţara Egiptului, n'am ales nicio cetate dintre toate seminţiile lui Israel, ca să se zidească acolo o casă în care să locuiască Numele Meu, şi n-am ales pe niciun om, care să fie căpetenia poporului Meu Israel.

Since the day that I brought forth my people out of the land of Egypt, I chose no city among all the tribes of Israel to build a house in, that my name might be there; neither did I choose any man to be a prince over my people Israel.

6 C i Ierusalimul l-am ales, pentruca în el să locuiască Numele Meu, şi pe David l-am ales, ca să domnească peste poporul Meu Israel!`

But I have chosen Jerusalem that my name might be there and have chosen David to be over my people Israel.

7 T atăl meu David avea de gînd să zidească o casă Numelui Domnului, Dumnezeului lui Israel.

Now it was in the heart of David, my father, to build a house unto the name of the LORD God of Israel.

8 Ş i Domnul a zis tatălui meu David:, Fiindcă ai avut de gînd să zideşti o casă Numelui Meu, bine ai făcut că ai avut gîndul acesta.

But the LORD said to David, my father, Forasmuch as it was in thy heart to build a house for my name, thou didst well in that it was in thy heart;

9 N umai că nu tu vei zidi casa; ci fiul tău, ieşit din tine, va zidi Numelui Meu o casă.`

notwithstanding, thou shalt not build the house, but thy son which shall come forth out of thy loins, he shall build a house for my name.

10 D omnul a împlinit cuvîntul pe care -l spusese. Eu m'am ridicat în locul tatălui meu David, şi am şezut pe scaunul de domnie al lui Israel, cum vestise Domnul, şi am zidit o casă Numelui Domnului, Dumnezeului lui Israel.

The LORD, therefore, has performed his word that he has spoken, for I am risen up in the place of David, my father, and am set on the throne of Israel, as the LORD had said, and have built the house unto the name of the LORD God of Israel.

11 A m aşezat în ea chivotul, în care este legămîntul Domnului, legămîntul pe care l -a făcut El cu copiii lui Israel.``

And in it I have put the ark, in which is the covenant of the LORD that he made with the sons of Israel.

12 S olomon s'a aşezat înaintea altarului Domnului, în faţa întregei adunări a lui Israel, şi a întins mînile.

¶ Then he stood before the altar of the LORD in the presence of all the congregation of Israel and spread forth his hands.

13 C ăci Solomon făcuse o treaptă de aramă, şi o pusese în mijlocul curţii. Ea era lungă de cinci coţi, lată de cinci coţi, şi înaltă de trei coţi; a şezut pe ea, s'a aşezat în genunchi în faţa întregei adunări a lui Israel, şi a întins mînile spre cer.

For Solomon had made a brasen scaffold, five cubits long and five cubits wide and three cubits high, and had set it in the midst of the court; and upon it he stood and knelt down upon his knees before all the congregation of Israel and spread forth his hands toward heaven

14 Ş i a zis:,, Doamne, Dumnezeul lui Israel! Nu este Dumnezeu ca Tine, în ceruri şi pe pămînt: Tu ţii legămîntul şi îndurarea Ta faţă de robii Tăi, cari umblă înaintea Ta cu toată inima lor!

and said, O LORD God of Israel, there is no God like thee in the heaven nor in the earth who keeps covenant and shows mercy unto thy slaves that walk before thee with all their hearts;

15 A stfel, Ţi-ai ţinut cuvîntul dat robului Tău David, tatăl meu; şi ce ai spus cu gura Ta, împlineşti astăzi prin puterea Ta.

who hast kept unto thy slave David, my father, that which thou hast promised him; thou didst say it with thy mouth and hast fulfilled it with thy hand, as it is this day.

16 A cum, Doamne, Dumnezeul lui Israel, ţine făgăduinţa pe care ai făcut -o tatălui meu David, cînd ai zis:, Niciodată nu vei fi lipsit înaintea Mea de un urmaş care să şadă pe scaunul de domnie al lui Israel, numai fiii tăi să ia seama la calea lor şi să meargă în legea Mea, cum ai mers tu înaintea Mea.`

Now, therefore, O LORD God of Israel, keep with thy slave David, my father, that which thou hast promised him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit upon the throne of Israel, under the condition that thy sons keep their way, walking in my law, as thou hast walked before me.

17 Î mplinească-se dar, Doamne, Dumnezeul lui Israel, făgăduinţa pe care ai făcut -o robului Tău David!

Now then, O LORD God of Israel, let thy word stand firm, which thou hast spoken unto thy slave David.

18 D ar ce! Să locuiască Dumnezeu cu adevărat împreună cu omul pe pămînt? Iată că cerurile, şi cerurile cerurilor nu Te pot cuprinde: cu cît mai puţin această casă, pe care am zidit -o eu!

Is it true that God is to dwell with men on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain thee, how much less this house which I have built!

19 T otuş, Doamne, Dumnezeul meu, ia aminte la rugăciunea robului Tău şi la cererea lui! Ascultă strigătul şi rugăciunea pe care Ţi -o face robul Tău.

But thou shalt look upon the prayer of thy slave and upon his supplication, O LORD my God, to hearken unto the cry and the prayer with which thy slave prays before thee

20 O chii Tăi să fie zi şi noapte deschişi peste casa aceasta, peste locul despre care ai zis că acolo va fi Numele Tău! Ascultă rugăciunea pe care o face robul Tău în locul acesta!

that thine eyes may be open upon this house day and night, upon the place of which thou hast said, My name shall be there, to hearken unto the prayer which thy slave prays in this place.

21 A scultă cererile robului Tău şi ale poporului Tău Israel, cînd se vor ruga în locul acesta! Ascultă din locul locuinţei Tale, din ceruri, ascultă şi iartă!

Hearken, likewise, unto the supplications of thy slave and of thy people Israel when they shall pray in this place; hear thou from the heavens, from thy dwelling place, even hear and forgive.

22 D acă va păcătui cineva împotriva aproapelui său, şi se va pune peste el un jurămînt ca să -l facă să jure, şi dacă va veni să jure înaintea altarului Tău, în casa aceasta, -

If a man sins against his neighbour and an oath is laid upon him to make him swear, and the oath comes before thy altar in this house,

23 a scultă -l din ceruri, lucrează, şi judecă pe robii Tăi: osîndeşte pe cel vinovat, şi fă ca purtarea lui să cadă asupra capului lui; fă dreptate celui nevinovat, şi răsplăteşte -i, după nevinovăţia lui!

thou shalt hear from heaven and do right unto thy slaves, by requiting the wicked, by recompensing his way upon his own head, and by justifying the righteous, by giving him according to his righteousness.

24 C înd poporul tău Israel va fi bătut de vrăjmaş, pentrucă a păcătuit împotriva Ta: dacă se vor întoarce la Tine şi vor da slavă Numelui Tău, dacă Îţi vor face rugăciuni şi cereri în casa aceasta, -

And if thy people Israel should fall before their enemies because they have sinned against thee and if they should convert and confess thy name and pray and make supplication before thee in this house,

25 a scultă -i din ceruri, iartă păcatul poporului Tău Israel, şi adu -i înapoi în ţara pe care ai dat -o lor şi părinţilor lor.

thou shalt hear from the heavens and forgive the sin of thy people Israel and bring them again unto the land which thou gavest to them and to their fathers.

26 C înd cerul va fi închis, şi nu va fi ploaie, din pricina păcatelor lor împotriva Ta: dacă se vor ruga în acest loc, şi vor da slavă Numelui Tău, şi dacă se vor întoarce dela păcatele lor (pentrucă -i vei fi pedepsit),

If the heavens should become shut up, that there be no rain because they have sinned against thee; yet if they pray in this place and confess thy name and become converted from their sins when thou dost afflict them,

27 a scultă -i din ceruri, iartă păcatul robilor Tăi şi al poporului Tău Israel, învaţă -i calea cea bună în care trebuie să meargă, şi trimete ploaie pe pămîntul pe care l-ai dat de moştenire poporului Tău!

thou shalt hear them from heaven and forgive the sin of thy slaves and of thy people Israel, and thou shalt teach them the good way, that they may walk therein, and send rain upon thy land which thou hast given unto thy people for an inheritance.

28 C înd vor fi în ţară foametea, ciuma, rugina în grîu, şi mălura, lăcustele de un soi sau altul, cînd vrăjmaşul va împresura pe poporul Tău, în ţara lui, în cetăţile lui, cînd vor fi urgii sau boli de vreun fel:

If there should be famine in the land, or if there should be pestilence, if there should be blasting, or mildew, locusts, or caterpillars; if their enemies besiege them in the cities of their land; whatever affliction or sickness there may be;

29 d acă un om, dacă tot poporul Tău Israel va face rugăciuni şi cereri, şi fiecare îşi va cunoaşte rana şi durerea şi va întinde mînile spre casa aceasta, -

every prayer and every supplication made of any man, or of all thy people Israel or of anyone who knows his affliction and his grief in his heart, if they shall extend their hands towards this house,

30 a scultă -l din ceruri, din locul locuinţei Tale, şi iartă -l; răsplăteşte fiecăruia după căile lui, Tu care cunoşti inima fiecăruia, -căci numai Tu cunoşti inima copiilor oamenilor, -

thou shalt hear from the heavens, from the place of thy habitation, and forgive and render unto each one according to his ways, having known his heart (for thou only knowest the hearts of the sons of men),

31 c a să se teamă de Tine, şi să umble în căile Tale tot timpul cît vor trăi în ţara, pe care ai dat -o părinţilor noştri!

that they may fear thee and walk in thy ways all the days that they live in the land which thou gavest unto our fathers.

32 C înd străinul, care nu este din poporul tău Israel, va veni dintr'o ţară depărtată, din pricina Numelui Tău celui mare, din pricina mînii Tale celei tari şi din pricina braţului Tău întins, cînd va veni să se roage în casa aceasta, -

And also unto the stranger, who is not of thy people Israel, but is come from a far country for thy great name’s sake and thy mighty hand and thy stretched out arm, if they come and pray in this house,

33 a scultă -l din ceruri, din locul locuinţei Tale, şi dă străinului aceluia tot ce-Ţi va cere, pentruca toate popoarele pămîntului să cunoască Numele Tău, să se teamă de Tine, ca poporul Tău Israel, şi să ştie că Numele Tău este chemat peste casa aceasta, pe care am zidit -o!

thou shalt hear from the heavens, from the habitation of thy dwelling place, and do according to all that the stranger calls unto thee for, that all the peoples of the earth may know thy name and fear thee, as do thy people Israel, and let them know that thy name is invoked upon this house which I have built.

34 C înd va ieşi poporul Tău la luptă împotriva vrăjmaşilor lui, urmînd calea pe care îi vei porunci s'o urmeze: dacă Îţi vor face rugăciuni, cu privirile îndreptate spre cetatea aceasta pe care ai ales -o şi spre casa pe care am zidit -o în Numele Tău, -

If thy people go out to war against their enemies by the way that thou shalt send them and they pray unto thee toward this city which thou hast chosen, toward the house which I have built for thy name,

35 a scultă din ceruri rugăciunile şi cererile lor, şi fă-le dreptate!

thou shalt hear from the heavens their prayer and their supplication and do them judgment.

36 C înd vor păcătui împotriva Ta, -căci nu este om care să nu păcătuiască, -şi cînd vei fi mîniat împotriva lor şi -i vei da în mîna vrăjmaşului, care -i va duce robi într'o ţară depărtată sau apropiată:

If they sin against thee (for there is no man who does not sin,)and thou art angry with them and deliver them over before their enemies so that those that take them carry them away captives unto an enemy land far off or near,

37 d acă îşi vor veni în fire în ţara unde vor fi robi, dacă se vor întoarce la Tine, şi Îţi vor face cereri în ţara robiei lor, şi vor zice:, Am păcătuit, am săvîrşit fărădelegi, am făcut rău!`

and they come into their right mind in the land where they are carried captive, if they convert and pray unto thee in the land of their captivity, saying, We have sinned, we have done iniquity and have dealt wickedly,

38 d acă se vor întoarce la Tine din toată inima lor şi din tot sufletul lor, în ţara robiei lor, unde au fost duşi robi, dacă-Ţi vor face rugăciuni, cu privirile întoarse spre ţara lor, pe care ai dat -o părinţilor lor, spre cetatea pe care ai ales -o şi spre casa pe care am zidit -o Numelui Tău, -

if they convert unto thee with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their captivity, where they have been carried captives and pray toward their land, which thou didst give unto their fathers, and toward the city which thou hast chosen and toward the house which I have built unto thy name,

39 a scultă din ceruri, din locul locuinţei Tale, rugăciunile şi cererile lor, şi fă-le dreptate: iartă poporului Tău păcatele făcute împotriva Ta!

thou shalt hear from the heavens, from the dwelling place of thy habitation, their prayer and their supplications and do their judgment and forgive thy people who have sinned against thee.

40 A cum, Dumnezeule, ochii Tăi să fie deschişi, şi urechile să-Ţi fie cu luare aminte la rugăciunea făcută în locul acesta!

Now, my God, let, I beseech thee, thine eyes be open and let thine ears be attentive unto the prayer that is made in this place.

41 A cum, Doamne, Dumnezeule, scoală-Te, vino la locul Tău de odihnă, Tu şi chivotul măreţiei Tale. Preoţii Tăi, Doamne Dumnezeule, să fie îmbrăcaţi cu mîntuirea, şi prea iubiţii Tăi să se bucure de fericire!

Now, therefore, arise, O LORD God, to inhabit thy resting place, thou and the ark of thy strength; let thy priests, O LORD God, be clothed with salvation and let thy merciful ones rejoice in goodness.

42 D oamne Dumnezeule, nu îndepărta pe unsul Tău, adu-Ţi aminte de bunătăţile făgăduite robului Tău David!``

O LORD God, do not turn away the face of thy anointed one; remember the mercies of David, thy slave.
