¶ In the year twenty-seven of Jeroboam, king of Israel, Azariah, son of Amaziah, king of Judah, began to reign.

2 A vea şasesprezece ani cînd a ajuns împărat, şi a domnit cinci zeci şi doi de ani la Ierusalim. Mamă-sa se chema Iecolia din Ierusalim.

He was sixteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jecholiah of Jerusalem.

3 E l a făcut ce este plăcut înaintea Domnului, întocmai cum făcuse tatăl său Amaţia.

And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Amaziah had done.

4 N umai că înălţimile nu le -a stricat; poporul tot mai aducea jertfe şi tămîie pe înălţimi.

But with all this, the high places were not removed; the people sacrificed and burnt incense still on the high places.

5 D omnul a lovit pe împărat cu lepră şi el a fost lepros pînă în ziua morţii, şi a locuit într'o casă deosebită. Şi Iotam, fiul împăratului, era în fruntea casei şi judeca poporul ţării.

And the LORD smote the king so that he was a leper unto the day of his death and dwelt in a separate house. And Jotham, the king’s son, was over the house, judging the people of the land.

7 A zaria a adormit cu părinţii săi, şi l-au îngropat cu părinţii săi în cetatea lui David. Şi, în locul lui, a domnit fiul său Iotam.

So Azariah slept with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David; and Jotham, his son, reigned in his stead.

8 Î n al treizeci şi optulea an al lui Azaria, împăratul lui Iuda, a început să domnească peste Israel la Samaria Zaharia, fiul lui Ieroboam. A domnit şase luni.

¶ In the year thirty-eight of Azariah, king of Judah, Zachariah, the son of Jeroboam, began to reign over Israel in Samaria six months.

9 E l a făcut ce este rău înaintea Domnului, ca şi părinţii lui; nu s'a abătut dela păcatele lui Ieroboam, fiul lui Nebat, care făcuse pe Israel să păcătuiască.

And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, as his fathers had done; he did not depart from the sins of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin.

10 Ş alum, fiul lui Iabeş, a uneltit împotriva lui, l -a lovit înaintea poporului, şi l -a omorît; şi, în locul lui, a domnit el.

And Shallum, the son of Jabesh, conspired against him, and smote him before the people and slew him, and reigned in his stead.

And the rest of the acts of Zachariah, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.

12 A stfel s'a împlinit ce spusese lui Iehu Domnul, cînd zisese:,, Fiii tăi pînă în al patrulea neam vor şedea pe scaunul de domnie al lui Israel.``

This was the word of the LORD which he spoke unto Jehu, saying, Thy sons shall sit on the throne of Israel unto the fourth generation. And so it came to pass.

13 Ş alum, fiul lui Iabeş, a început să domnească în al treizeci şi nouălea an al lui Ozia, împăratul lui Iuda. A domnit o lună la Samaria.

Shallum, the son of Jabesh, began to reign in the year thirty-nine of Uzziah, king of Judah; and he reigned a full month in Samaria.

14 M enahem, fiul lui Gadi, s'a suit din Tirţa şi a venit la Samaria, a lovit în Samaria pe Şalum, fiul lui Iabeş, şi l -a omorît; şi, în locul lui, a domnit el.

For Menahem, the son of Gadi, went up from Tirzah and came to Samaria and smote Shallum, the son of Jabesh, in Samaria and slew him and reigned in his stead.

16 A tunci Menahem a bătut Tifsahul şi pe toţi ceice erau în el, cu ţinutul lui dinspre Tirţa; l -a bătut pentrucă nu-şi deschisese porţile. Şi a spintecat pîntecele tuturor femeilor însărcinate.

Then Menahem smote Tiphsah and all that were therein and the borders thereof from Tirzah because they had not opened to him, therefore, he smote it; and all the women therein that were with child he ripped up.

17 Î n al treizeci şi nouălea an al lui Azaria, împăratul lui Iuda, a început să domnească peste Israel Menahem, fiul lui Gadi. A domnit zece ani la Samaria.

In the year thirty-nine of Azariah, king of Judah, Menahem, the son of Gadi, began to reign over Israel and reigned ten years in Samaria.

18 E l a făcut ce este rău înaintea Domnului; nu s'a abătut, cît a trăit, dela păcatele lui Ieroboam, fiul lui Nebat, care făcuse pe Israel să păcătuiască.

And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD; he did not depart all his days from the sins of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin.

19 P ul, împăratul Asiriei, a venit în ţară. Şi Menahem a dat lui Pul o mie de talanţi de argint, ca să -l ajute să-şi întărească domnia.

And Pul, the king of Assyria, came against the land; and Menahem gave Pul a thousand talents of silver that his hand might be with him to confirm the kingdom in his hand.

20 M enahem a ridicat argintul acesta dela toţi cei cu avere din Israel, ca să -l dea împăratului Asiriei; i -a pus să dea fiecare cîte cincizeci de sicli de argint. Împăratul Asiriei s'a întors înapoi, şi nu s'a oprit atunci în ţară.

And Menahem exacted the money upon Israel, from all the mighty men of virtue, from each man fifty shekels of silver, to give to the king of Assyria. So the king of Assyria turned back and did not stay there in the land.

In the year fifty of Azariah, king of Judah, Pekahiah, the son of Menahem, began to reign over Israel in Samaria and reigned two years.

24 E l a făcut ce este rău înaintea Domnului; nu s'a abătut dela păcatele lui Ieroboam, fiul lui Nebat, care făcuse pe Israel să păcătuiască.

And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD; he did not depart from the sins of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin.

25 P ecah, fiul lui Remalia, slujbaşul lui, a uneltit împotriva lui; l -a lovit la Samaria, în palatul casei împăratului, ca şi pe Argob şi Arie; avea cu el cincizeci de oameni dintre fiii Galaadiţilor. A omorît astfel pe Pecahia, şi a domnit în locul lui.

But Pekah, the son of Remaliah a captain of his, conspired against him and smote him in Samaria, in the palace of the king’s house, with Argob and Arieh and with him fifty men of the sons of Gilead; and he killed him and reigned in his place.

In the year fifty-two of Azariah, king of Judah, Pekah, the son of Remaliah, began to reign over Israel in Samaria and reigned twenty years.

28 E l a făcut ce este rău înaintea Domnului; nu s'a abătut dela păcatele lui Ieroboam, fiul lui Nebat, care făcuse pe Israel să păcătuiască.

And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD; he did not depart from the sins of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin.

29 P e vremea lui Pecah, împăratul lui Israel, a venit Tiglat-Pileser, împăratul Asiriei, şi a luat Iionul, Abel-Bet-Maaca, Ianoah, Chedeş, Haţor, Galaad şi Galileia, toată ţara lui Neftali, şi pe locuitori i -a dus în prinsoare în Asiria.

In the days of Pekah, king of Israel, came Tiglathpileser, king of Assyria, and took Ijon, Abelbethmaachah, Janoah, Kedesh, Hazor, Gilead, Galilee, and all the land of Naphtali and carried them captive to Assyria.

And Hosea, the son of Elah, made a conspiracy against Pekah, the son of Remaliah, and smote him and slew him and reigned in his stead, in the year twenty of Jotham, the son of Uzziah.

¶ In the second year of Pekah, the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, began to reign.

33 A vea douăzeci şi cinci de ani cînd a ajuns împărat, şi a domnit şasesprezece ani la Ierusalim. Mamă-sa se chema Ieruşa, fata lui Ţadoc.

He was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jerusha, the daughter of Zadok.

34 E l a făcut ce este plăcut înaintea Domnului; a lucrat întocmai ca tatăl său Ozia.

And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD; he did according to all that his father Uzziah had done.

35 N umai că înălţimile nu le -a stricat; poporul tot mai aducea jertfe şi tămîie pe înălţimi. Iotam a zidit poarta cea mai înaltă a Casei Domnului.

With all this, the high places were not removed; the people sacrificed and burned incense still in the high places. He built the higher gate of the house of the LORD.

36 C elelalte fapte ale lui Iotam, şi tot ce a făcut el, nu sînt scrise oare în cartea Cronicilor împăraţilor lui Iuda?

Now the rest of the acts of Jotham and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

37 Î n vremea aceea, Domnul a început să trimeată împotriva lui Iuda pe Reţin, împăratul Siriei, şi pe Pecah, fiul lui Remalia.

In those days the LORD began to send against Judah Rezin, the king of Syria and Pekah, the son of Remaliah.

38 I otam a adormit cu părinţii săi, şi a fost îngropat cu părinţii săi în cetatea tatălui său David. Şi, în locul lui a domnit fiul său Ahaz.

And Jotham slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David, his father; and Ahaz, his son, reigned in his stead.
