1 S olomon a poruncit să se zidească o casă Numelui Domnului şi o casă împărătească pentru el.

¶ And Solomon determined to build a house for the name of the LORD and a house for his kingdom.

2 S olomon a numărat şapte zeci de mii de oameni, ca să ducă sarcinile, optzeci de mii ca să taie pietre pe munte, şi trei mii şase sute ca să -i privegheze.

And Solomon counted seventy thousand men to bear burdens and eighty thousand to hew in the mountain, and three thousand six hundred to oversee them.

3 S olomon a trimes să spună lui Hiram, împăratul Tirului:,, Fă-mi şi mie cum ai făcut tatălui meu David, căruia i-ai trimes cedri, ca să-şi zidească o casă de locuit.

And Solomon sent to Hiram, the king of Tyre, saying, As thou didst deal with David, my father, sending him cedars to build himself a house to dwell in, even so deal with me.

4 I ată, eu înalţ o casă Numelui Domnului, Dumnezeului meu, ca să I -o închin Lui, să ard înaintea Lui tămîie mirositoare, să aduc necurmat în ea pînile pentru punerea înainte, şi să aduc arderile de tot de dimineaţă şi de seară, în zilele de Sabat, de lună nouă, şi de sărbătoare ale Domnului, Dumnezeului nostru, după o lege vecinică pentru Israel.

Behold, I must build a house unto the name of the LORD my God, to dedicate it to him and to burn aromatic incense before him and for the continual showbread and for the burnt offerings morning and evening on the sabbaths and on the new moons and on the solemn feasts of the LORD our God, which is to be perpetual in Israel.

5 C asa pe care o voi zidi trebuie să fie mare, căci Dumnezeul nostru este mai mare decît toţi dumnezeii.

And the house which I must build is great, for great is our God above all gods.

6 D ar cine poate să -I zidească o casă, cînd cerurile şi cerurile cerurilor nu -L pot cuprinde? Şi cine sînt eu, ca să -I zidesc o casă, decît doar ca să ard tămîie înaintea Lui?

But who is so powerful as to build him a house, seeing the heavens and heavens of the heavens cannot contain him? Who am I then that I should build him a house, except to burn incense before him?

7 T rimete-mi dar un om iscusit în lucrarea aurului, argintului, aramei şi ferului, a materiilor văpsite în purpură, a materiilor de coloarea cărmîzului şi de coloare albastră, şi care să cunoască săpătura în lemn, ca să lucreze cu meşterii iscusiţi cari sînt la mine în Iuda şi la Ierusalim şi pe cari i -a ales tatăl meu David.

Send me now, therefore, a wise man who knows how to work in gold and in silver and in brass and in iron and in purple and crimson and blue and that knows how to engrave figures with the craftsmen that are with me in Judah and in Jerusalem, whom David, my father, provided.

8 T rimete-mi din Liban şi lemn de cedru, de chiparos şi de santal; căci ştiu că slujitorii tăi se pricep să taie lemne din Liban. Iată că slujitorii mei vor fi cu ai tăi.

Send me also cedar trees, fir trees, and pine trees, out of Lebanon, for I know that thy slaves are skillful at cutting timber in Lebanon, and, behold, my slaves shall be with thy slaves

9 S ă mi se pregătească lemn din belşug, căci casa pe care o voi zidi, va fi mare şi măreaţă.

to prepare me timber in abundance, for the house which I am about to build shall be great and wonderful.

10 S lujitorilor tăi cari vor tăia, cari vor doborî jos lemnele, le voi da douăzeci de mii de cori de grîu treierat, douăzeci de mii de cori de orz, douăzeci de mii de baţi de vin şi douăzeci de mii de baţi de untdelemn.``

And, behold, I will give to thy slaves, the hewers that cut timber, twenty thousand measures of beaten wheat and twenty thousand measures of barley and twenty thousand baths of wine and twenty thousand baths of oil.

11 H iram, împăratul Tirului, a răspuns astfel, printr'o scrisoare, pe care a trimes -o lui Solomon:,, Pentrucă Domnul iubeşte pe poporul Său, de aceea te -a pus împărat peste ei.``

¶ Then Hiram, the king of Tyre, answered in writing, which he sent to Solomon, Because the LORD has loved his people, he has placed thee as king over them.

12 H iram a mai zis:,, Binecuvîntat să fie Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel, care a făcut cerurile şi pămîntul, că a dat împăratului David un fiu înţelept, priceput şi cuminte, care va zidi o casă Domnului şi o casă împărătească pentru el!

Hiram said, moreover, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, that made the heavens and the earth, who has given to King David a wise son with knowledge, good sense and understanding, that he might build a house for the LORD and a house for his kingdom.

13 Î ţi trimet dar un om meşter şi priceput, pe Huram-Abi,

And now I have sent a wise man, with knowledge and understanding, of Hiram my father,

14 f iul unei femei dintre fetele lui Dan, şi al unui tată Tirian. El este meşter pentru lucrările în aur, în argint, în aramă şi în fer, în piatră şi în lemn, în materii văpsite, în purpură şi în albastru, în materii de vison şi cîrmîz, şi pentru orice fel de săpături şi lucruri meşteşugite, cari i se dau de făcut. El va lucra cu oamenii tăi iscusiţi şi cu oamenii iscusiţi ai domnului meu David, tatăl tău.

the son of a woman of the daughters of Dan, and his father was a man of Tyre, skillful to work in gold and in silver, in brass, in iron, in stone, and in timber, in purple, in blue, in fine linen, and in crimson; also to engrave any manner of figure and to invent any design which shall be put to him, with thy craftsmen and with the craftsmen of my lord David, thy father.

15 A cum, domnul meu să trimeată slujitorilor tăi grîul, orzul, untdelemnul şi vinul de care a vorbit.

Now, therefore, let my lord send unto his slaves the wheat and the barley, the oil and the wine, which he has spoken of;

16 Ş i noi vom tăia lemne din Liban atît cît vei avea nevoie; ţi le vom trimete pe mare în plute pînă la Iafo, şi de acolo tu le vei sui la Ierusalim.``

and we will cut wood out of Lebanon, as much as thou shalt need, and we will bring it to thee in rafts by sea to Joppa, and thou shalt cause it to be carried up to Jerusalem.

17 S olomon a numărat pe toţi străinii cari erau în ţara lui Israel, şi a căror numărătoare fusese făcută de tatăl său David. S'au găsit o sută cincizeci şi trei de mii şase sute.

And Solomon numbered all the strangers that were in the land of Israel, after David, his father, had already numbered them; and one hundred and fifty-three thousand six hundred were found.

18 Ş i a luat din ei şaptezeci de mii, ca să poarte sarcinile, optzeci de mii să taie pietre în munte, şi trei mii şase sute, ca să privegheze şi să îndemne pe popor la lucru.

And he set seventy thousand of them to be bearers of burdens and eighty thousand to be hewers in the mountain, and three thousand six hundred overseers to make the people work.
