1 V ai de tine, pustiitorule, care totuş n'ai fost pustiit; care jăfuieşti, şi n'ai fost jăfuit încă! După ce vei sfîrşi de pustiit, vei fi pustiit şi tu, după ce vei isprăvi de jăfuit, vei fi jăfuit şi tu.``

¶ Woe to thee that dost spoil, and thou wast not spoiled; and dost deal treacherously, and they did not deal treacherously with thee! When thou shalt cease to spoil, thou shalt be spoiled; and when thou shalt make an end to dealing treacherously, they shall deal treacherously with thee.

2 D oamne, ai milă de noi! Noi nădăjduim în Tine. Fii ajutorul nostru în fiecare dimineaţă şi izbăvirea noastră la vreme de nevoie!

O LORD, have mercy on us; we wait for thee: thou wert the strength of thy people in the beginning, be also our saving health in the time of tribulation.

3 C înd răsună glasul Tău, popoarele fug; cînd Te scoli Tu, neamurile se împrăştie.``

At the noise of the tumult the peoples fled; at the lifting up of thyself the Gentiles were scattered.

4 p rada voastră va fi strînsă cum strînge muşiţa: sar peste ea cum sar lăcustele.``

And your spoil shall be gathered like the gathering of the caterpillar: as the running to and fro of locusts shall he run upon them.

5 D omnul este înălţat, şi locuieşte în înălţime. El umple Sionul de nepărtinire şi dreptate.

The LORD shall be exalted; he who dwells on the heights: for he has filled Zion with judgment and righteousness.

6 Z ilele tale sînt statornice, înţelepciunea şi priceperea sînt un izvor de mîntuire``; frica de Domnul, iată comoara Sionului.

And in thy times wisdom and knowledge, and the strength of salvation shall reign: the fear of the LORD shall be his treasure.

7 I ată, vitejii strigă afară; solii păcii plîng cu amar.

Behold, their ambassadors shall cry without: the messengers of peace shall weep bitterly.

8 D rumurile sînt pustii; nimeni nu mai umblă pe drumuri. Asur a rupt legămîntul, dispreţuieşte cetăţile, nu se uită la nimeni.

The highways shall be broken down; the travellers shall cease; he has broken the covenant; he has despised the cities; he does not regard man.

9 Ţ ara jăleşte şi este întristată; Libanul este plin de ruşine, tînjeşte; Saronul este ca o pustie; Basanul şi Carmelul îşi scutură frunza.

The earth mourns and languishes: Lebanon is ashamed and hewn down: Sharon is like a wilderness; and Bashan and Carmel were shaken.

10 A cum Mă voi scula, -zice Domnul, -acum Mă voi înălţa, acum Mă voi ridica.

Now I will rise up, saith the LORD; now I will be exalted; now I will be lifted up.

11 A ţi zămislit fîn, şi naşteţi paie de mirişte; suflarea vostră de mînie împotriva Ierusalimului este un foc, care pe voi înşivă vă va arde de tot.

Ye shall conceive chaff, ye shall bring forth stubble: your breath, as fire, shall devour you.

12 P opoarele vor fi ca nişte cuptoare de var, ca nişte spini tăiaţi cari ard în foc.``

And the peoples shall be as the burnings of lime: as thorns cut up they shall be burned in the fire.

13 V oi, cei de departe, ascultaţi ce am făcut! Şi voi, cei de aproape, vedeţi puterea mea!``

¶ Hear, ye that are far off, what I have done; and, ye that are near, acknowledge my might.

14 P ăcătoşii sînt îngroziţi, în Sion, un tremur a apucat pe cei nelegiuiţi, cari zic:,, Cine din noi va putea să rămînă lîngă un foc mistuitor?``,, Cine din noi va putea să rămînă lîngă nişte flacări vecinice?``

The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness has surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? Who among us shall dwell with eternal flames?

15 C elce umblă în neprihănire, şi vorbeşte fără vicleşug, celce nesocoteşte un cîştig scos prin stoarcere, celce îşi trage mînile înapoi, ca să nu primească mită, cel ce îşi astupă urechea să n'audă cuvinte setoase de sînge, şi îşi leagă ochii ca să nu vadă răul,

He that walks in righteousness, he that speaks uprightly; he that despises the gain of violence, he that shakes his hands from receiving bribes; he that stops his ears to not hear of blood; he who shuts his eyes to not see evil;

16 a cela va locui în locurile înalte; stînci întărite vor fi locul lui de scăpare; i se va da pîne, şi apa nu -i va lipsi.``

he shall dwell upon the high places: fortresses of rocks shall be his place of refuge: bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure.

17 O chii tăi vor vedea pe Împărat în strălucirea Lui, vor privi ţara în toată întinderea ei.

Thine eyes shall see the king in his beauty: they shall behold the land that is very far off.

18 I nima ta îşi va aduce aminte de groaza trecută şi va zice:, Unde este logofătul? Unde este vistiernicul? Unde este celce veghea asupra turnurilor?`

Thine heart shall imagine the terror. Where is the scribe? Where is the receiver of tribute? Where is he that counted the towers?

19 A tunci nu vei mai vedea pe poporul acela îndrăzneţ, pe poporul cu vorbirea încîlcită de n'o puteai înţelege, cu limba gîngavă, de n'o puteai pricepe.

Thou shalt not see that fierce people, a people of a darker speech than thou can perceive; of a stammering tongue, that thou can not understand.

20 P riveşte Sionul, cetatea sărbătorilor noastre! Ochii tăi vor vedea Ierusalimul, ca locuinţă liniştită, ca un cort, care nu va mai fi mutat, ai cărui ţăruşi nu vor mai fi scoşi niciodată, şi ale cărui funii nu vor mai fi deslegate.

Thou shalt see Zion, the city of our solemnities: thine eyes shall see Jerusalem a quiet habitation, a tabernacle that shall not be taken down; not one of its stakes shall ever be removed, neither shall any of its cords be broken.

21 D a, acolo cu adevărat Domnul este minunat pentru noi: El ne ţine loc de rîuri, de pîraie late, unde totuş nu pătrund corăbii cu lopeţi, şi nu trece niciun vas puternic.

For the LORD shall surely be strong unto us there, a place of broad rivers and wide streams in which no galley with oars shall go, neither shall any great ship pass thereby.

22 C ăci Domnul este Judecătorul nostru, Domnul este Legiuitorul nostru, Domnul este Împăratul nostru: El ne mîntueşte!

For the LORD shall be our judge, the LORD shall be our lawgiver, the LORD shall be our king; he himself will save us.

23 F uniile tale s'au slăbit, aşa că nu mai pot strînge piciorul catargului, şi nu mai pot întinde pînzele. Atunci se împarte prada, care -i aşa de mare, că pînă şi ologii iau parte la ea.

Thy tacklings are loosed; they did not strengthen well their mast, nor could they spread the sail: then the prey of a great spoil shall be divided; even the lame shall take prey.

24 N iciun locuitor nu zice:, Sînt bolnav!` Poporul Ierusalimului capătă iertarea fărădelegilor lui.``

And the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick: the people that dwell therein shall be absolved from sin.
