1 Y ou are the children of Yahweh your God. You shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes for the dead.

»Ustedes son hijos del Señor su Dios, así que no deben hacerse heridas en el cuerpo ni raparse por causa de un muerto.

2 F or you are a holy people to Yahweh your God, and Yahweh has chosen you to be a people for his own possession, above all peoples who are on the face of the earth.

Tú eres un pueblo santo, y perteneces al Señor tu Dios. De entre todos los pueblos de la tierra, el Señor te ha escogido para que seas un pueblo único, un pueblo suyo. Animales limpios e inmundos

3 Y ou shall not eat any abominable thing.

»No comerás nada que sea repugnante.

4 T hese are the animals which you may eat: the ox, the sheep, the goat,

Los animales que ustedes podrán comer son los siguientes: el buey, la oveja, la cabra,

5 t he deer, the gazelle, the roebuck, the wild goat, the ibex, the antelope, and the chamois.

el ciervo, la gacela, el corzo, la cabra montés, el íbice, el antílope y el carnero montés.

6 E very animal that parts the hoof, and has the hoof cloven in two and chews the cud, among the animals, that may you eat.

También podrán comer todo animal que sea rumiante y tenga pezuñas hendidas con dos uñas.

7 N evertheless these you shall not eat of them that chew the cud, or of those who have the hoof cloven: the camel, the hare, and the rabbit. Because they chew the cud but don’t part the hoof, they are unclean to you.

Pero de los rumiantes, o de los que tengan la pezuña hendida, no podrán comer los siguientes: el camello, la liebre y el damán, porque rumian pero no tienen la pezuña hendida. Son animales impuros.

8 T he pig, because it has a split hoof but doesn’t chew the cud, is unclean to you. You shall not eat their flesh, and you shall not touch their carcasses.

Tampoco podrán comer cerdo, porque éste tiene la pezuña hendida, pero no rumia. Deberán considerarlo un animal impuro. No comerán la carne de estos animales, ni tocarán sus cadáveres.

9 T hese you may eat of all that are in the waters: whatever has fins and scales may you eat.

»Podrán comer, de todo lo que hay en el agua, todo lo que tenga aletas y escamas.

10 Y ou shall not eat whatever doesn’t have fins and scales. It is unclean to you.

Pero no podrán comer nada que no tenga aletas ni escamas; lo considerarán impuro.

11 O f all clean birds you may eat.

»Podrán comer toda ave limpia,

12 B ut these are they of which you shall not eat: the eagle, the vulture, the osprey,

Pero las aves que no podrán comer son las siguientes: el águila, el quebrantahuesos, el azor,

13 t he red kite, the falcon, the kite after its kind,

el gallinazo, ninguna especie de milano,

14 e very raven after its kind,

ninguna especie de cuervo,

15 t he ostrich, the owl, the seagull, the hawk after its kind,

el avestruz, la lechuza, la gaviota, ninguna especie de gavilán,

16 t he little owl, the great owl, the horned owl,

el búho, el ibis, el calamón,

17 t he pelican, the vulture, the cormorant,

el pelícano, el buitre, el somormujo,

18 t he stork, the heron after its kind, the hoopoe, and the bat.

la cigüeña, ninguna especie de garza, la abubilla y el murciélago.

19 A ll winged creeping things are unclean to you. They shall not be eaten.

No comerán ningún insecto alado; lo considerarán impuro.

20 O f all clean birds you may eat.

Pero podrán comer toda ave limpia.

21 Y ou shall not eat of anything that dies of itself. You may give it to the foreigner living among you who is within your gates, that he may eat it; or you may sell it to a foreigner; for you are a holy people to Yahweh your God. You shall not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk.

»No comerán ningún animal que encuentren muerto, porque ustedes son un pueblo consagrado al Señor su Dios. Podrán dárselo o vendérselo a los extranjeros que vivan en sus ciudades; ellos sí podrán comerlo. »No guisarás el cabrito en la leche de su madre. La ley del diezmo

22 Y ou shall surely tithe all the increase of your seed, that which comes out of the field year by year.

»Cada año deberás presentar, sin falta, la décima parte de todo el grano que tu campo produzca.

23 Y ou shall eat before Yahweh your God, in the place which he chooses, to cause his name to dwell there, the tithe of your grain, of your new wine, and of your oil, and the firstborn of your herd and of your flock; that you may learn to fear Yahweh your God always.

Y esa décima parte de tu grano, de tu vino y de tu aceite, y las primicias de tus rebaños y ganados la comerás delante del Señor tu Dios, en el lugar que él escoja como residencia de su nombre, para que aprendas a temer siempre al Señor tu Dios.

24 I f the way is too long for you, so that you are not able to carry it, because the place is too far from you, which Yahweh your God shall choose, to set his name there, when Yahweh your God shall bless you;

Si el Señor tu Dios te bendice, pero el camino es demasiado largo y te queda lejos llevar esa décima parte hasta el lugar donde el Señor tu Dios escogió como residencia de su nombre,

25 t hen you shall turn it into money, and bind up the money in your hand, and shall go to the place which Yahweh your God shall choose.

entonces venderás esa décima parte y, con el dinero en la mano, te presentarás en el lugar que el Señor tu Dios ha escogido.

26 Y ou shall trade the money for whatever your soul desires, for cattle, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatever your soul asks of you; and you shall eat there before Yahweh your God, and you shall rejoice, you and your household.

Con ese dinero podrás también comprar todo lo que desees: vacas, ovejas, vino, sidra, o cualquier otra cosa que tú desees, y lo comerás delante del Señor tu Dios, y tú y tu familia se regocijarán.

27 Y ou shall not forsake the Levite who is within your gates, for he has no portion nor inheritance with you.

»No desampares al levita que habite en tus ciudades, pues ellos no comparten contigo ninguna propiedad.

28 A t the end of every three years you shall bring all the tithe of your increase in the same year, and shall store it within your gates.

»Cada tres años cumplidos sacarás todo el diezmo de tus productos de aquel año, y lo almacenarás en tus ciudades.

29 T he Levite, because he has no portion nor inheritance with you, and the foreigner living among you, and the fatherless, and the widow, who are within your gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that Yahweh your God may bless you in all the work of your hand which you do.

Como los levitas no comparten contigo ninguna propiedad, podrán entonces venir y comer hasta quedar satisfechos, lo mismo que los extranjeros, los huérfanos y las viudas que haya en tus ciudades. Así el Señor tu Dios te bendecirá en todo lo que hagas.
