1 H e looked up, and saw the rich people who were putting their gifts into the treasury.

Jesús estaba observando a los ricos que depositaban sus ofrendas en el arca del templo,

2 H e saw a certain poor widow casting in two small brass coins.

y vio que una viuda muy pobre depositaba allí dos moneditas de poco valor.

3 H e said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow put in more than all of them,

Entonces dijo: «En verdad les digo, que esta viuda pobre ha echado más que todos.

4 f or all these put in gifts for God from their abundance, but she, out of her poverty, put in all that she had to live on.”

Porque todos aquellos ofrendaron a Dios de lo que les sobra, pero ella puso, en su pobreza, todo lo que tenía para su sustento.» Jesús predice la destrucción del templo

5 A s some were talking about the temple and how it was decorated with beautiful stones and gifts, he said,

Algunos hablaban de las hermosas piedras con las que el templo estaba adornado, y de las ofrendas dedicadas a Dios, así que Jesús les dijo:

6 “ As for these things which you see, the days will come, in which there will not be left here one stone on another that will not be thrown down.”

«En cuanto a lo que ustedes ven, vienen días en que no quedará piedra sobre piedra. Todo será destruido.» Señales antes del fin

7 T hey asked him, “Teacher, so when will these things be? What is the sign that these things are about to happen?”

Entonces le preguntaron: «Y esto, Maestro, ¿cuándo sucederá? ¿Y qué señal habrá cuando esto ya esté por suceder?»

8 H e said, “Watch out that you don’t get led astray, for many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The time is at hand.’ Therefore don’t follow them.

Jesús les respondió: «Cuídense de no ser engañados. Porque muchos vendrán en mi nombre, y dirán: “Yo soy”, y también: “El tiempo está cerca.” Pero ustedes no los sigan.

9 W hen you hear of wars and disturbances, don’t be terrified, for these things must happen first, but the end won’t come immediately.”

Y cuando oigan hablar de guerras y de levantamientos, no se alarmen, porque es necesario que esto suceda primero, pero el fin no llegará de manera repentina.»

10 T hen he said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.

También les dijo: «Se levantará nación contra nación, y reino contra reino.

11 T here will be great earthquakes, famines, and plagues in various places. There will be terrors and great signs from heaven.

Habrá impresionantes terremotos, y hambre y pestilencias en diferentes lugares; también sucederán cosas espantosas y habrá grandes señales del cielo.

12 B ut before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and will persecute you, delivering you up to synagogues and prisons, bringing you before kings and governors for my name’s sake.

Pero antes de que todo esto suceda, a ustedes les echarán mano, los perseguirán, y los entregarán a las sinagogas y a las cárceles, y por causa de mi nombre los harán comparecer ante reyes y gobernantes.

13 I t will turn out as a testimony for you.

Pero esto les servirá para dar testimonio.

14 S ettle it therefore in your hearts not to meditate beforehand how to answer,

Propónganse en su interior no ponerse a pensar cómo responder en su defensa,

15 f or I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to withstand or to contradict.

porque yo les daré las palabras y la sabiduría, las cuales no podrán resistir ni contradecir todos sus oponentes.

16 Y ou will be handed over even by parents, brothers, relatives, and friends. They will cause some of you to be put to death.

Ustedes serán entregados incluso por sus padres, hermanos, parientes y amigos, y a algunos de ustedes los matarán.

17 Y ou will be hated by all men for my name’s sake.

Por causa de mi nombre, todo el mundo los odiará,

18 A nd not a hair of your head will perish.

pero ustedes no perderán ni un solo cabello de su cabeza.

19 “ By your endurance you will win your lives.

Tengan paciencia, que así ganarán sus almas.

20 “ But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is at hand.

»Pero cuando vean a Jerusalén rodeada de ejércitos, sepan que su destrucción ha llegado.

21 T hen let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Let those who are in the middle of her depart. Let those who are in the country not enter therein.

Entonces, los que estén en Judea, huyan a los montes; y los que estén en la ciudad, salgan de allí. Los que estén en los campos, no entren en la ciudad.

22 F or these are days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

Porque esos días serán de retribución, para que se cumplan todas las cosas que están escritas.

23 W oe to those who are pregnant and to those who nurse infants in those days! For there will be great distress in the land, and wrath to this people.

Pero ¡ay de las que en esos días estén embarazadas, o amamantando! Porque vendrá sobre la tierra una gran calamidad, y sobre este pueblo vendrá la ira.

24 T hey will fall by the edge of the sword, and will be led captive into all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

Y caerán a filo de espada, y serán llevados cautivos a todas las naciones; y Jerusalén será pisoteada por los paganos, hasta que se cumplan los tiempos que a ellos les esperan. La venida del Hijo del Hombre

25 T here will be signs in the sun, moon, and stars; and on the earth anxiety of nations, in perplexity for the roaring of the sea and the waves;

»Habrá entonces señales en el sol, en la luna y en las estrellas. En la tierra, la gente se angustiará y quedará confundida por causa del bramido del mar y de las olas.

26 m en fainting for fear, and for expectation of the things which are coming on the world: for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

El miedo y la expectación de las cosas que sobrevendrán en la tierra hará que los hombres desfallezcan, y los poderes celestiales se estremecerán.

27 T hen they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

Entonces verán al Hijo del Hombre venir en una nube, con poder y gran gloria.

28 B ut when these things begin to happen, look up, and lift up your heads, because your redemption is near.”

Cuando esto comience a suceder, anímense y levanten la cabeza, porque su redención estará cerca.»

29 H e told them a parable. “See the fig tree, and all the trees.

También les contó una parábola: «Fíjense en la higuera y en todos los árboles.

30 W hen they are already budding, you see it and know by your own selves that the summer is already near.

Cuando ustedes ven que brotan sus hojas, pueden saber que ya se acerca el verano.

31 E ven so you also, when you see these things happening, know that God’s Kingdom is near.

De la misma manera, cuando ustedes vean que todo esto sucede, podrán saber que ya se acerca el reino de Dios.

32 M ost certainly I tell you, this generation will not pass away until all things are accomplished.

De cierto les digo, que todo esto sucederá antes de que pase esta generación.

33 H eaven and earth will pass away, but my words will by no means pass away.

El cielo y la tierra pasarán, pero mis palabras no pasarán.

34 “ So be careful, or your hearts will be loaded down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that day will come on you suddenly.

»Pero tengan cuidado de que su corazón no se recargue de glotonería y embriaguez, ni de las preocupaciones de esta vida, para que aquel día no les sobrevenga de repente.

35 F or it will come like a snare on all those who dwell on the surface of all the earth.

Porque caerá como un lazo sobre todos los que habitan la faz de la tierra.

36 T herefore be watchful all the time, praying that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will happen, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

Por lo tanto, manténganse siempre atentos, y oren para que se les considere dignos de escapar de todo lo que habrá de suceder, y de presentarse ante el Hijo del Hombre.»

37 E very day Jesus was teaching in the temple, and every night he would go out and spend the night on the mountain that is called Olivet.

De día, Jesús enseñaba en el templo; de noche, se quedaba en el monte llamado de los Olivos.

38 A ll the people came early in the morning to him in the temple to hear him.

Y toda la gente acudía a él por la mañana, para escucharlo en el templo.
