3 B lessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ;

Bendito sea el Dios y Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, que en Cristo nos ha bendecido con toda bendición espiritual en los lugares celestiales.

4 e ven as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and without defect before him in love;

En él, Dios nos escogió antes de la fundación del mundo, para que en su presencia seamos santos e intachables. Por amor

5 h aving predestined us for adoption as children through Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his desire,

nos predestinó para que por medio de Jesucristo fuéramos adoptados como hijos suyos, según el beneplácito de su voluntad,

6 t o the praise of the glory of his grace, by which he freely gave us favor in the Beloved,

para alabanza de la gloria de su gracia, con la cual nos hizo aceptos en el Amado.

7 i n whom we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,

En él tenemos la redención por medio de su sangre, el perdón de los pecados según las riquezas de su gracia,

8 w hich he made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence,

la cual desbordó sobre nosotros en toda sabiduría y entendimiento,

9 m aking known to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he purposed in him

y nos dio a conocer el misterio de su voluntad, según su beneplácito, el cual se había propuesto en sí mismo,

10 t o an administration of the fullness of the times, to sum up all things in Christ, the things in the heavens, and the things on the earth, in him;

para que cuando llegara el tiempo señalado reuniera todas las cosas en Cristo, tanto las que están en los cielos, como las que están en la tierra.

11 i n whom also we were assigned an inheritance, having been foreordained according to the purpose of him who does all things after the counsel of his will;

En él asimismo participamos de la herencia, pues fuimos predestinados conforme a los planes del que todo lo hace según el designio de su voluntad,

12 t o the end that we should be to the praise of his glory, we who had before hoped in Christ:

a fin de que nosotros, los primeros en esperar en Cristo, alabemos su gloria.

13 i n whom you also, having heard the word of the truth, the Good News of your salvation—in whom, having also believed, you were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit,

También ustedes, luego de haber oído la palabra de verdad, que es el evangelio que los lleva a la salvación, y luego de haber creído en él, fueron sellados con el Espíritu Santo de la promesa,

14 w ho is a pledge of our inheritance, to the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of his glory.

que es la garantía de nuestra herencia hasta la redención de la posesión adquirida, para alabanza de su gloria. El espíritu de sabiduría y de revelación

15 F or this cause I also, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which is among you, and the love which you have toward all the saints,

Por esta causa también yo, desde que supe de la fe de ustedes en el Señor Jesús y del amor que ustedes tienen para con todos los santos,

16 d on’t cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers,

no ceso de dar gracias por ustedes al recordarlos en mis oraciones,

17 t hat the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him;

para que el Dios de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, el Padre de gloria, les dé espíritu de sabiduría y de revelación en el conocimiento de él.

18 h aving the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

Pido también que Dios les dé la luz necesaria para que sepan cuál es la esperanza a la cual los ha llamado, cuáles son las riquezas de la gloria de su herencia en los santos,

19 a nd what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to that working of the strength of his might

y cuál la supereminente grandeza de su poder para con nosotros, los que creemos, según la acción de su fuerza poderosa,

20 w hich he worked in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and made him to sit at his right hand in the heavenly places,

la cual operó en Cristo, y lo resucitó de entre los muertos y lo sentó a su derecha en los lugares celestiales,

21 f ar above all rule, and authority, and power, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in that which is to come.

muy por encima de todo principado, autoridad, poder y señorío, y por encima de todo nombre que se nombra, no sólo en este tiempo, sino también en el venidero.

22 H e put all things in subjection under his feet, and gave him to be head over all things for the assembly,

Dios sometió todas las cosas bajo sus pies, y lo dio a la iglesia, como cabeza de todo,

23 w hich is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.

pues la iglesia es su cuerpo, la plenitud de Aquel que todo lo llena a plenitud.
