1 ¶ And it came to pass when king Hezekiah heard it, that he rent his clothes and covered himself with sackcloth and went into the house of the LORD.

Когда услышал это царь Езекия, то разодрал одежды свои и покрылся вретищем, и пошел в дом Господень;

2 A nd he sent Eliakim, who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe and the elders of the priests covered with sackcloth unto Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz.

и послал Елиакима, начальника дворца, и Севну писца, и старших священников, покрытых вретищами, к пророку Исаии, сыну Амосову.

3 A nd they said unto him, Thus saith Hezekiah, This day is a day of trouble and of rebuke and of blasphemy, for the sons are come to the breaking of the water, and there is no strength in her who is to bring them forth.

И они сказали ему: так говорит Езекия: день скорби и наказания и посрамления день сей, ибо младенцы дошли до отверстия утробы матерней, а силы нет родить.

4 I t may be the LORD thy God will hear the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master has sent to blaspheme the living God and to reprove with the words which the LORD thy God has heard; therefore lift up thy prayer for the remnant that is still left.

Может быть, услышит Господь Бог твой слова Рабсака, которого послал царь Ассирийский, господин его, хулить Бога живаго и поносить словами, какие слышал Господь, Бог твой; вознеси же молитву об оставшихся, которые находятся еще в живых.

5 S o the slaves of king Hezekiah came to Isaiah.

И пришли слуги царя Езекии к Исаии.

6 A nd Isaiah said unto them, Thus shall ye say unto your master, Thus saith the LORD, Do not be afraid of the words that thou hast heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.

И сказал им Исаия: так скажите господину вашему: так говорит Господь: не бойся слов, которые слышал ты, которыми поносили Меня слуги царя Ассирийского.

7 B ehold, that I am sending a spirit in him, and he shall hear a rumour and return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.

Вот, Я пошлю в него дух, и он услышит весть, и возвратится в землю свою, и Я поражу его мечом в земле его.

8 ¶ So Rabshakeh returned, and found the king of Assyria warring against Libnah, for he had heard that he was departed from Lachish.

И возвратился Рабсак и нашел царя Ассирийского воюющим против Ливны; ибо он слышал, что тот отошел от Лахиса.

9 A nd he heard say concerning Tirhakah king of Ethiopia, He is come forth to make war with thee. And when he heard it, he sent messengers to Hezekiah, saying,

И услышал он о Тиргаке, царе Ефиопском; сказали: вот, он вышел сразиться с тобою. Услышав это, он послал послов к Езекии, сказав:

10 T hus shall ye speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, Do not let thy God, in whom thou dost trust, deceive thee, saying, Jerusalem shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.

так скажите Езекии, царю Иудейскому: пусть не обманывает тебя Бог твой, на Которого ты уповаешь, думая: 'не будет отдан Иерусалим в руки царя Ассирийского'.

11 B ehold, thou hast heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands by destroying them utterly, and shalt thou be delivered?

Вот, ты слышал, что сделали цари Ассирийские со всеми землями, положив на них заклятие; ты ли уцелеешь?

12 H ave the gods of the Gentiles delivered those whom my fathers have destroyed, as Gozan and Haran and Rezeph and the sons of Eden which were in Telassar?

Боги народов, которых разорили отцы мои, спасли ли их, Гозан и Харан, и Рецеф, и сынов Едена, что в Фалассаре?

13 W here is the king of Hamath and the king of Arphad and the king of the city of Sepharvaim Hena, and Ivah?

Где царь Емафа и царь Арпада, и царь города Сепарваима, Ены и Иввы?

14 A nd Hezekiah took the letters from the hand of the messengers and read them; and Hezekiah went up unto the house of the LORD and spread them before the LORD.

И взял Езекия письмо из руки послов и прочитал его, и пошел в дом Господень, и развернул его Езекия пред лицем Господним;

15 A nd Hezekiah prayed unto the LORD, saying,

и молился Езекия пред лицем Господним и говорил:

16 O LORD of the hosts, God of Israel, that dwellest between the cherubim, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast made the heavens and earth.

Господи Саваоф, Боже Израилев, седящий на Херувимах! Ты один Бог всех царств земли; Ты сотворил небо и землю.

17 I ncline thine ear, O LORD, and hear; open thine eyes, O LORD, and see and hear all the words of Sennacherib, who has sent his messengers to blaspheme the living God.

Приклони, Господи, ухо Твое и услышь; открой, Господи, очи Твои и воззри, и услышь слова Сеннахирима, который послал поносить Тебя, Бога живаго.

18 O f a truth, LORD, the kings of Assyria have laid waste all the nations and their countries

Правда, о, Господи! цари Ассирийские опустошили все страны и земли их

19 a nd have cast their gods into the fire, for they were no gods, but the work of men’s hands, wood and stone; therefore they have destroyed them.

и побросали богов их в огонь; но это были не боги, а изделие рук человеческих, дерево и камень, потому и истребили их.

20 N ow therefore, O LORD our God, save us from his hand that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the LORD, even thou only.

И ныне, Господи Боже наш, спаси нас от руки его; и узнают все царства земли, что Ты, Господи, Бог один.

21 ¶ Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent unto Hezekiah, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Whereas thou hast prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria:

И послал Исаия, сын Амосов, к Езекии сказать: так говорит Господь, Бог Израилев: о чем ты молился Мне против Сеннахирима, царя Ассирийского, --

22 T his is the word which the LORD has spoken concerning him, Has he despised thee? Has he laughed thee to scorn O virgin daughter of Zion? Has he shaken his head behind thy back O daughter of Jerusalem?

вот слово, которое Господь изрек о нем: презрит тебя, посмеется над тобою девствующая дочь Сиона, покачает вслед тебя головою дочь Иерусалима.

23 W hom hast thou reproached and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exalted thy voice and lifted up thine eyes on high? even against the Holy One of Israel.

Кого ты порицал и поносил? и на кого возвысил голос и поднял так высоко глаза твои? на Святаго Израилева.

24 B y the hand of thy slaves thou hast reproached the Lord, and hast said, By the multitude of my chariots I shall come up to the height of the mountains to the sides of Lebanon, and I will cut down the tall cedars thereof and the choice fir trees thereof; and I will enter into the height of his border and the forest of his Carmel.

Чрез рабов твоих ты порицал Господа и сказал: 'со множеством колесниц моих я взошел на высоту гор, на ребра Ливана, и срубил рослые кедры его, отличные кипарисы его, и пришел на самую вершину его, в рощу сада его;

25 I have dug and drunk water; and with the sole of my feet shall I dry up all the rivers of sustenance.

и откапывал я, и пил воду; и осушу ступнями ног моих все реки Египетские'.

26 H ast thou not heard long ago how I have done it and of ancient times that I have formed it? Now I have brought it to pass, that thou should be to lay waste defenced cities into ruinous heaps.

Разве не слышал ты, что Я издавна сделал это, в древние дни предначертал это, а ныне выполнил тем, что ты опустошаешь крепкие города, их в груды развалин?

27 A nd their inhabitants, of little strength, dismayed and confounded shall be as the grass of the field and as the green shrub as the grass on the housetops, that before it comes to maturity it is dried up.

И жители их сделались маломощны, трепещут и остаются в стыде; они стали как трава на поле и нежная зелень, как порост на кровлях и опаленный хлеб, прежде нежели выколосился.

28 I have understood thy state, thy going out and thy coming in, and thy rage against me.

Сядешь ли ты, выйдешь ли, войдешь ли, Я знаю и дерзость твою против Меня.

29 B ecause thy rage against me, and thy tumult, is come up into my ears, therefore I will put my hook in thy nose and my bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou didst come.

За твою дерзость против Меня и за то, что надмение твое дошло до ушей Моих, Я вложу кольцо Мое в ноздри твои и удила Мои в рот твой, и возвращу тебя назад тою же дорогою, которою ты пришел.

30 A nd this shall be a sign unto thee, Ye shall eat this year such as grows of itself; and the second year that which springs of the same: and in the third year ye shall sow and shall reap and shall plant vineyards and shall eat the fruit thereof.

И вот, тебе, Езекия, знамение: ешьте в этот год выросшее от упавшего зерна, и на другой год--самородное; а на третий год сейте и жните, и садите виноградные сады, и ешьте плоды их.

31 A nd the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall again take root downward and bear fruit upward:

И уцелевший в доме Иудином остаток пустит опять корень внизу и принесет плод вверху,

32 F or out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant and from Mount Zion shall come an escape; the zeal of the LORD of the hosts shall do this.

ибо из Иерусалима произойдет остаток, и спасенное--от горы Сиона. Ревность Господа Саваофа соделает это.

33 T herefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shields, nor cast a bank against it.

Посему так говорит Господь о царе Ассирийском: 'не войдет он в этот город и не бросит туда стрелы, и не приступит к нему со щитом, и не насыплет против него вала.

34 B y the way that he came, by the same shall he return and shall not come into this city, saith the LORD.

По той же дороге, по которой пришел, возвратится, а в город сей не войдет, говорит Господь.

35 F or I will defend this city to save it for my own sake and for my slave David’s sake.

Я буду охранять город сей, чтобы спасти его ради Себя и ради Давида, раба Моего'.

36 T hen the angel of the LORD went forth and smote in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred and eighty-five thousand; and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.

И вышел Ангел Господень и поразил в стане Ассирийском сто восемьдесят пять тысяч. И встали поутру, и вот, всё тела мертвые.

37 S o Sennacherib king of Assyria departed and went and returned and dwelt at Nineveh.

И отступил, и пошел, и возвратился Сеннахирим, царь Ассирийский, и жил в Ниневии.

38 A nd it came to pass, as he was worshipping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons smote him with the sword; and they escaped into the land of Ararat and Esarhaddon his son reigned in his stead.

И когда он поклонялся в доме Нисроха, бога своего, Адрамелех и Шарецер, сыновья его, убили его мечом, а сами убежали в землю Араратскую. И воцарился Асардан, сын его, вместо него.
