1 ¶ The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water, he turns it wherever he will.

Il cuore del re in mano all'Eterno è come i corsi d'acqua; lo dirige dovunque egli vuole.

2 ¶ Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD weighs the hearts.

Ogni via dell'uomo è diritta ai suoi occhi, ma l'Eterno pesa i cuori.

3 ¶ To do righteousness and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.

Praticare la giustizia e l'equità è cosa piú gradita all'Eterno che il sacrificio.

4 ¶ A high look and a proud heart, which is the fire of the wicked, is sin.

Gli occhi alteri e un cuore superbo, che sono la lampada degli empi, sono peccato.

5 ¶ The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness, but of every one that is too hasty, only to want.

I disegni dell'uomo solerte conducono certamente all'abbondanza, ma chi è frettoloso cadrà certamente nell'indigenza.

6 ¶ The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of those that seek death.

Ottenere tesori con lingua bugiarda è un vapore fugace di chi cerca la morte.

7 ¶ The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them because they refuse to do judgment.

La violenza degli empi li porta via, perché rifiutano di praticare la giustizia.

8 ¶ The way of the perverse man is crooked and strange, but as for the pure, his work is right.

La via dell'uomo colpevole è tortuosa, ma il puro agisce rettamente.

9 ¶ It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop than with a brawling woman in a wide house.

E' meglio abitare sull'angolo di un tetto, che in una casa condivisa con una donna litigiosa.

10 ¶ The soul of the wicked desires evil; his neighbour finds no favour in his eyes.

L'anima dell'empio desidera il male neppure il suo amico trova pietà ai suoi occhi.

11 ¶ When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise, and by instructing the wise, he receives wisdom.

Quando lo schernitore è punito, il semplice diventa saggio; ma quando viene istruito il saggio, egli acquista conoscenza.

12 ¶ The righteous man wisely considers the house of the wicked, how God overthrows the wicked for their evil.

Il giusto osserva attentamente la casa dell'empio e rovescia gli empi per la loro malvagità.

13 ¶ Whosoever stops his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself but shall not be heard.

Chi chiude l'orecchio al grido del povero, griderà anch'egli, ma non avrà risposta.

14 ¶ A gift in secret pacifies anger, and a bribe in the bosom strong wrath.

Un dono fatto in segreto placa la collera e un regalo sottomano calma l'ira violenta.

15 ¶ It is joy to the just to do judgment, but it shall be destruction to the workers of iniquity.

Fare ciò che è retto è una gioia per il giusto, ma è una rovina per gli operatori d'iniquità.

16 ¶ The man that wanders out of the way of wisdom shall end up in the congregation of the dead.

L'uomo che si allontana dalla via della prudenza, abiterà nell'assemblea dei morti.

17 ¶ He that loves pleasure shall be a poor man; he that loves wine and oil shall not be rich.

Chi ama il piacere sarà nell'indigenza, chi ama il vino e l'olio non arricchirà.

18 ¶ The wicked shall be a ransom for the righteous, and the transgressor for the upright.

L'empio servirà di riscatto al giusto; e il perfido al posto degli uomini retti.

19 ¶ It is better to dwell in the wilderness than with a contentious and an angry woman.

E' meglio abitare in un deserto, che con una donna litigiosa e irritante.

20 ¶ There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spends it up.

Nella casa del saggio c'è un tesoro prezioso e olio, ma l'uomo stolto sperpera tutto questo.

21 ¶ He that follows after righteousness and mercy shall find life, righteousness, and honour.

Chi persegue giustizia e misericordia troverà vita, giustizia e gloria.

22 ¶ The wise man took the city of the mighty and cast down its strength in which it trusted.

Il saggio dà la scalata alla città dei forti e abbatte la forza in cui confidava.

23 ¶ Whosoever keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps his soul from troubles.

Chi custodisce la sua bocca e la sua lingua preserva la sua vita dalle avversità.

24 ¶ Proud and haughty scorner is his name, who deals in proud wrath.

Il nome del superbo insolente è; "Schernitore" egli fa ogni cosa con superbia smisurata.

25 ¶ The desire of the slothful kills him; for his hands refuse to labour.

I desideri del pigro lo uccidono, perché le sue mani rifiutano di lavorare.

26 T here is one who covets greedily all day long, but the righteous gives and keeps on giving.

Egli desidera ardentemente tutto il giorno, ma il giusto dona senza mai rifiutare.

27 ¶ The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination; how much more, when he brings it with lewdness?

Il sacrificio dell'empio è cosa abominevole, tanto più se lo offre con intento malvagio.

28 ¶ The false witness shall perish, but the man that hears shall stand fast in his word.

Il testimone bugiardo perirà, ma l'uomo che lo ascolta potrà sempre parlare.

29 ¶ The wicked man hardens his face, but as for the upright, he orders his ways.

L'empio indurisce la sua faccia, ma l'uomo retto rende ferma la sua via.

30 ¶ There is no wisdom nor intelligence nor counsel against the LORD.

Non c'è sapienza né intelligenza né consiglio contro l'Eterno.

31 T he horse is prepared against the day of battle, but salvation is of the LORD.

Il cavallo è pronto per il giorno della battaglia, ma la vittoria appartiene all'Eterno.
