3 B low the shofar in the new moon in the time appointed on our solemn feast day.

4 F or this is a statute of Israel and an ordinance of the God of Jacob.

8 ¶ Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto thee; O Israel, if thou wilt hearken unto me,

Ascolta, o popolo mio, e ti ammonirò. O Israele, se tu mi ascoltassi!

9 n o strange god shall be in thee, neither shalt thou worship any strange god.

Non vi sia in mezzo a te alcun dio straniero e non adorare alcun dio forestiero.

10 I am the LORD thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt; open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.

sono l'Eterno, il DIO tuo, che ti ha fatto uscire dal paese di Egitto; apri la tua bocca e io la riempirò.

11 B ut my people did not hearken to my voice, and Israel did not love me.

Ma il mio popolo non ha ascoltato la mia voce e Israele non mi ha ubbidito.

12 S o I gave them up unto the hardness of their heart, and they walked in their own counsels.

Perciò li abbandonai alla durezza del loro cuore, affinché camminassero secondo i loro consigli.

13 O h, if my people would hearken unto me and Israel would walk in my ways!

Oh, se il mio popolo mi ascoltasse, se Israele camminasse nelle mie vie!

14 I would soon subdue their enemies and turn my hand against their adversaries.

Umilierei subito i suoi nemici e volgerei la mia mano contro i suoi avversari.

15 T he haters of the LORD would have submitted themselves unto him, and their time would endure for ever.

Quelli che odiano l'Eterno gli sarebbero sottomessi, e la loro sorte sarebbe segnata per sempre.

16 A nd God would have fed them also the finest of the wheat, and with honey out of the rock I would have satisfied thee.

E io lo nutrirei (Israele) con fior di frumento e lo sazierei di miele che stilla dalla roccia».
