1 ¶ I love the LORD, because he has heard my voice and my supplications.

amo l'Eterno, perché egli ha dato ascolto alla mia voce e alle mie suppliche.

2 B ecause he has inclined his ear unto me, therefore I will call upon him all of my days.

Poiché ha teso verso di me il suo orecchio, io lo invocherò tutti i giorni della mia vita.

3 T he sorrows of death compassed me and the pains of Sheol found me; I encountered trouble and sorrow.

I legami della morte mi avevano circondato e le angosce dello Sceol mi avevano colto; sventura e dolore mi avevano sopraffatto.

4 T hen I called upon the name of the LORD, saying, O LORD, I beseech thee, deliver my soul.

Allora invocai il nome dell'Eterno: «O Eterno, ti supplico salvami».

5 G racious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful.

L'Eterno è pietoso e giusto, il nostro DIO è misericordioso.

6 T he LORD preserves the simple; I was brought low, and he saved me.

L'Eterno protegge i semplici; io ero ridotto in misero stato, ed egli mi ha salvato.

7 R eturn unto thy rest, O my soul, for the LORD has dealt bountifully with thee.

Ritorna, anima mia, al tuo riposo, perché l'Eterno ti ha colmata di beni.

8 F or thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.

Sí, perché tu hai liberato la mia vita dalla morte, i miei occhi dalle lacrime e i miei piedi da cadute.

9 I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living.

Io camminerò alla presenza dell'Eterno nella terra dei viventi.

10 ¶ I believed, therefore I spoke, and was greatly afflicted;

ho creduto e perciò parlo, ero grandemente afflitto,

11 I said in my haste, All men are liars.

e dicevo nel mio smarrimento: «Ogni uomo è bugiardo».

12 W hat shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me?

Che darò all'Eterno in cambio di tutti i benefici che mi ha fatto?

13 I will take the cup of saving health and invoke the name of the LORD.

Io alzerò il calice della salvezza, e invocherò il nome dell'Eterno.

14 I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people.

Adempirò i miei voti all'Eterno in presenza di tutto il suo popolo.

15 P recious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his merciful ones.

E' preziosa agli occhi dell'Eterno la morte dei suoi santi.

16 T his is so, O LORD, because I am thy slave; I am thy slave, the son of thine handmaid; thou hast loosed my bonds.

Io sono veramente il tuo servo, o Eterno, sono il tuo servo, il figlio della tua serva; tu hai sciolto i miei legami.

17 I will offer unto thee the sacrifice of praise and will invoke the name of the LORD.

ti offrirò un sacrificio di ringraziamento e invocherò il nome dell'Eterno.

18 I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people,

Adempirò i miei voti all'Eterno in presenza di tutto il suo popolo.

19 i n the courts of the LORD’s house, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Halelu-JAH.

nei cortili della casa dell'Eterno, in mezzo a te, o Gerusalemme. Alleluia.
