1 “ Vocês são os filhos do Senhor, o seu Deus. Não façam cortes no corpo nem rapem a frente da cabeça por causa dos mortos,

“You are the sons of the Lord your God; you shall not cut yourselves nor shave your forehead for the sake of the dead.

2 p ois vocês são povo consagrado ao Senhor, o seu Deus. Dentre todos os povos da face da terra, o Senhor os escolheu para serem o seu tesouro pessoal.

For you are a holy people to the Lord your God, and the Lord has chosen you to be a people for His own possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.

3 “ Não comam nada que seja proibido.

“ You shall not eat any detestable thing.

4 S ão estes os animais que vocês podem comer: o boi, a ovelha, o bode,

These are the animals which you may eat: the ox, the sheep, the goat,

5 o veado, a gazela, a corça, o bode montês, o antílope, o bode selvagem e a ovelha montês.

the deer, the gazelle, the roebuck, the wild goat, the ibex, the antelope and the mountain sheep.

6 V ocês poderão comer qualquer animal que tenha o casco fendido e dividido em duas unhas e que rumine.

Any animal that divides the hoof and has the hoof split in two and chews the cud, among the animals, that you may eat.

7 C ontudo, dos que ruminam ou têm o casco fendido, vocês não poderão comer o camelo, o coelho e o rato silvestre. Embora ruminem, não têm casco fendido; são impuros para vocês.

Nevertheless, you are not to eat of these among those which chew the cud, or among those that divide the hoof in two: the camel and the rabbit and the shaphan, for though they chew the cud, they do not divide the hoof; they are unclean for you.

8 O porco também é impuro; embora tenha casco fendido, não rumina. Vocês não poderão comer a carne desses animais nem tocar em seus cadáveres.

The pig, because it divides the hoof but does not chew the cud, it is unclean for you. You shall not eat any of their flesh nor touch their carcasses.

9 “ De todas as criaturas que vivem nas águas vocês poderão comer as que possuem barbatanas e escamas.

“These you may eat of all that are in water: anything that has fins and scales you may eat,

10 M as não poderão comer nenhuma criatura que não tiver barbatanas nem escamas; é impura para vocês.

but anything that does not have fins and scales you shall not eat; it is unclean for you.

11 “ Vocês poderão comer qualquer ave pura.

“You may eat any clean bird.

12 M as estas vocês não poderão comer: a águia, o urubu, a águia-marinha,

But these are the ones which you shall not eat: the eagle and the vulture and the buzzard,

13 o milhafre, qualquer espécie de falcão,

and the red kite, the falcon, and the kite in their kinds,

14 q ualquer espécie de corvo,

and every raven in its kind,

15 a coruja-de-chifre, a coruja-de-orelha-pequena, a coruja-orelhuda, qualquer espécie de gavião,

and the ostrich, the owl, the sea gull, and the hawk in their kinds,

16 o mocho, o corujão, a coruja-branca,

the little owl, the great owl, the white owl,

17 a coruja-do-deserto, o abutre, a coruja-pescadora,

the pelican, the carrion vulture, the cormorant,

18 a cegonha, qualquer tipo de garça, a poupa e o morcego.

the stork, and the heron in their kinds, and the hoopoe and the bat.

19 “ Todas as pequenas criaturas que enxameiam e têm asas são impuras para vocês; não as comam.

And all the teeming life with wings are unclean to you; they shall not be eaten.

20 M as qualquer criatura que têm asas, sendo pura, vocês poderão comer.

You may eat any clean bird.

21 “ Não comam nada que encontrarem morto. Vocês poderão dá-lo a um estrangeiro residente de qualquer cidade de vocês, e ele poderá comê-lo, ou vocês poderão vendê-lo a outros estrangeiros. Mas vocês são povo consagrado ao Senhor, o seu Deus. “Não cozinhem o cabrito no leite da própria mãe. A Entrega dos Dízimos

“ You shall not eat anything which dies of itself. You may give it to the alien who is in your town, so that he may eat it, or you may sell it to a foreigner, for you are a holy people to the Lord your God. You shall not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk.

22 “ Separem o dízimo de tudo o que a terra produzir anualmente.

“You shall surely tithe all the produce from what you sow, which comes out of the field every year.

23 C omam o dízimo do cereal, do vinho novo e do azeite, e a primeira cria de todos os seus rebanhos na presença do Senhor, o seu Deus, no local que ele escolher como habitação do seu Nome, para que aprendam a temer sempre o Senhor, o seu Deus.

You shall eat in the presence of the Lord your God, at the place where He chooses to establish His name, the tithe of your grain, your new wine, your oil, and the firstborn of your herd and your flock, so that you may learn to fear the Lord your God always.

24 M as, se o local for longe demais e vocês tiverem sido abençoados pelo Senhor, o seu Deus, e não puderem carregar o dízimo, pois o local escolhido pelo Senhor para ali pôr o seu Nome é longe demais,

If the distance is so great for you that you are not able to bring the tithe, since the place where the Lord your God chooses to set His name is too far away from you when the Lord your God blesses you,

25 t roquem o dízimo por prata, e levem a prata ao local que o Senhor, o seu Deus, tiver escolhido.

then you shall exchange it for money, and bind the money in your hand and go to the place which the Lord your God chooses.

26 C om prata comprem o que quiserem: bois, ovelhas, vinho ou outra bebida fermentada, ou qualquer outra coisa que desejarem. Então juntamente com suas famílias comam e alegrem-se ali, na presença do Senhor, o seu Deus.

You may spend the money for whatever your heart desires: for oxen, or sheep, or wine, or strong drink, or whatever your heart desires; and there you shall eat in the presence of the Lord your God and rejoice, you and your household.

27 E nunca se esqueçam dos levitas que vivem em suas cidades, pois eles não possuem propriedade nem herança próprias.

Also you shall not neglect the Levite who is in your town, for he has no portion or inheritance among you.

28 “ Ao final de cada três anos, tragam todos os dízimos da colheita do terceiro ano, armazenando-os em sua própria cidade,

“ At the end of every third year you shall bring out all the tithe of your produce in that year, and shall deposit it in your town.

29 p ara que os levitas, que não possuem propriedade nem herança, e os estrangeiros, os órfãos e as viúvas que vivem na sua cidade venham comer e saciar-se, e para que o Senhor, o seu Deus, os abençoe em todo o trabalho das suas mãos.

The Levite, because he has no portion or inheritance among you, and the alien, the orphan and the widow who are in your town, shall come and eat and be satisfied, in order that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hand which you do.
