1 N o ano em que o rei Uzias morreu, eu vi o Senhor assentado num trono alto e exaltado, e a aba de sua veste enchia o templo.

In the year of King Uzziah’s death I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, lofty and exalted, with the train of His robe filling the temple.

2 A cima dele estavam serafins; cada um deles tinha seis asas: com duas cobriam o rosto, com duas cobriam os pés e com duas voavam.

Seraphim stood above Him, each having six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew.

3 E proclamavam uns aos outros: “Santo, santo, santo é o Senhor dos Exércitos, a terra inteira está cheia da sua glória”.

And one called out to another and said, “ Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord of hosts, The whole earth is full of His glory.”

4 A o som das suas vozes os batentes das portas tremeram, e o templo ficou cheio de fumaça.

And the foundations of the thresholds trembled at the voice of him who called out, while the temple was filling with smoke.

5 E ntão gritei: Ai de mim! Estou perdido! Pois sou um homem de lábios impuros e vivo no meio de um povo de lábios impuros; os meus olhos viram o Rei, o Senhor dos Exércitos!

Then I said, “ Woe is me, for I am ruined! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I live among a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.”

6 L ogo um dos serafins voou até mim trazendo uma brasa viva, que havia tirado do altar com uma tenaz.

Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a burning coal in his hand, which he had taken from the altar with tongs.

7 C om ela tocou a minha boca e disse: “Veja, isto tocou os seus lábios; por isso, a sua culpa será removida, e o seu pecado será perdoado”.

He touched my mouth with it and said, “Behold, this has touched your lips; and your iniquity is taken away and your sin is forgiven.” Isaiah’s Commission

8 E ntão ouvi a voz do Senhor, conclamando: “Quem enviarei? Quem irá por nós?” E eu respondi: Eis-me aqui. Envia-me!

Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

9 E le disse: “Vá, e diga a este povo: “Estejam sempre ouvindo, mas nunca entendam; estejam sempre vendo, e jamais percebam.

He said, “Go, and tell this people: ‘Keep on listening, but do not perceive; Keep on looking, but do not understand.’

10 T orne insensível o coração deste povo; torne surdos os seus ouvidos e feche os seus olhos. Que eles não vejam com os olhos, não ouçam com os ouvidos, e não entendam com o coração, para que não se convertam e sejam curados”.

“ Render the hearts of this people insensitive, Their ears dull, And their eyes dim, Otherwise they might see with their eyes, Hear with their ears, Understand with their hearts, And return and be healed.”

11 E ntão eu perguntei: Até quando, Senhor? E ele respondeu: “Até que as cidades estejam em ruínas e sem habitantes, até que as casas fiquem abandonadas e os campos estejam totalmente devastados,

Then I said, “Lord, how long?” And He answered, “Until cities are devastated and without inhabitant, Houses are without people And the land is utterly desolate,

12 a té que o Senhor tenha enviado todos para longe e a terra esteja totalmente desolada.

“The Lord has removed men far away, And the forsaken places are many in the midst of the land.

13 E ainda que um décimo fique no país, esses também serão destruídos. Mas, assim como o terebinto e o carvalho deixam o tronco quando são derrubados, assim a santa semente será o seu tronco”.

“Yet there will be a tenth portion in it, And it will again be subject to burning, Like a terebinth or an oak Whose stump remains when it is felled. The holy seed is its stump.”
