1 D isse o Senhor a Moisés:

Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

2 “ Diga aos israelitas: Quando uma mulher engravidar e der à luz um menino, estará impura por sete dias, assim como está impura durante o seu período menstrual.

“Speak to the sons of Israel, saying: ‘When a woman gives birth and bears a male child, then she shall be unclean for seven days, as in the days of her menstruation she shall be unclean.

3 N o oitavo dia o menino terá que ser circuncidado.

On the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.

4 E ntão a mulher aguardará trinta e três dias para ser purificada do seu sangramento. Não poderá tocar em nenhuma coisa sagrada e não poderá ir ao santuário, até que se completem os dias da sua purificação.

Then she shall remain in the blood of her purification for thirty-three days; she shall not touch any consecrated thing, nor enter the sanctuary until the days of her purification are completed.

5 S e der à luz uma menina, estará impura por duas semanas, como durante o seu período menstrual. Nesse caso aguardará sessenta e seis dias para ser purificada do seu sangramento.

But if she bears a female child, then she shall be unclean for two weeks, as in her menstruation; and she shall remain in the blood of her purification for sixty-six days.

6 “ Quando se completarem os dias da sua purificação pelo nascimento de um menino ou de uma menina, ela trará ao sacerdote, à entrada da Tenda do Encontro, um cordeiro de um ano para o holocausto e um pombinho ou uma rolinha como oferta pelo pecado.

‘ When the days of her purification are completed, for a son or for a daughter, she shall bring to the priest at the doorway of the tent of meeting a one year old lamb for a burnt offering and a young pigeon or a turtledove for a sin offering.

7 E le os oferecerá ao Senhor para fazer propiciação por ela, que ficará pura do fluxo do seu sangramento. Essa é a regulamentação para a mulher que der à luz um menino ou uma menina.

Then he shall offer it before the Lord and make atonement for her, and she shall be cleansed from the flow of her blood. This is the law for her who bears a child, whether a male or a female.

8 S e ela não tiver recursos para oferecer um cordeiro, poderá trazer duas rolinhas ou dois pombinhos, um para o holocausto e o outro para a oferta pelo pecado. Assim o sacerdote fará propiciação por ela, e ela ficará pura”.

But if she cannot afford a lamb, then she shall take two turtledoves or two young pigeons, the one for a burnt offering and the other for a sin offering; and the priest shall make atonement for her, and she will be clean.’”
