1 I srael partiu com tudo o que lhe pertencia. Ao chegar a Berseba, ofereceu sacrifícios ao Deus de Isaque, seu pai.

So Israel set out with all that he had, and came to Beersheba, and offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac.

2 E Deus falou a Israel por meio de uma visão noturna: “Jacó! Jacó!” “Eis-me aqui”, respondeu ele.

God spoke to Israel in visions of the night and said, “ Jacob, Jacob.” And he said, “Here I am.”

3 “ Eu sou Deus, o Deus de seu pai”, disse ele. “Não tenha medo de descer ao Egito, porque lá farei de você uma grande nação.

He said, “ I am God, the God of your father; do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will make you a great nation there.

4 E u mesmo descerei ao Egito com você e certamente o trarei de volta. E a mão de José fechará os seus olhos.”

I will go down with you to Egypt, and I will also surely bring you up again; and Joseph will close your eyes.”

5 E ntão Jacó partiu de Berseba. Os filhos de Israel levaram seu pai Jacó, seus filhos e as suas mulheres nas carruagens que o faraó tinha enviado.

Then Jacob arose from Beersheba; and the sons of Israel carried their father Jacob and their little ones and their wives in the wagons which Pharaoh had sent to carry him.

6 T ambém levaram os seus rebanhos e os bens que tinham adquirido em Canaã. Assim Jacó foi para o Egito com toda a sua descendência.

They took their livestock and their property, which they had acquired in the land of Canaan, and came to Egypt, Jacob and all his descendants with him:

8 E stes são os nomes dos israelitas, Jacó e seus descendentes, que foram para o Egito: Rúben, o filho mais velho de Jacó.

These are the sons of Leah, whom she bore to Jacob in Paddan-aram, with his daughter Dinah; all his sons and his daughters numbered thirty-three.

16 E stes foram os filhos de Gade: Zefom, Hagi, Suni, Esbom, Eri, Arodi e Areli.

17 E stes foram os filhos de Aser: Imna, Isvá, Isvi e Berias, e a irmã deles, Sera. Estes foram os filhos de Berias: Héber e Malquiel.

21 E stes foram os filhos de Benjamim: Belá, Bequer, Asbel, Gera, Naamã, Eí, Rôs, Mupim, Hupim e Arde.

22 F oram esses os catorze descendentes que Raquel deu a Jacó.

These are the sons of Rachel, who were born to Jacob; there were fourteen persons in all.

23 O filho de Dã foi Husim.

The sons of Dan: Hushim.

24 E stes foram os filhos de Naftali: Jazeel, Guni, Jezer e Silém.

The sons of Naphtali: Jahzeel and Guni and Jezer and Shillem.

25 F oram esses os sete descendentes que Bila, serva que Labão tinha dado à sua filha Raquel, deu a Jacó.

These are the sons of Bilhah, whom Laban gave to his daughter Rachel, and she bore these to Jacob; there were seven persons in all.

26 T odos os que foram para o Egito com Jacó, todos os seus descendentes, sem contar as mulheres de seus filhos, totalizaram sessenta e seis pessoas.

All the persons belonging to Jacob, who came to Egypt, his direct descendants, not including the wives of Jacob’s sons, were sixty-six persons in all,

27 C om mais os dois filhos que nasceram a José no Egito, os membros da família de Jacó que foram para o Egito chegaram a setenta.

and the sons of Joseph, who were born to him in Egypt were two; all the persons of the house of Jacob, who came to Egypt, were seventy.

28 O ra, Jacó enviou Judá à sua frente a José, para saber como ir a Gósen. Quando lá chegaram,

Now he sent Judah before him to Joseph, to point out the way before him to Goshen; and they came into the land of Goshen.

Joseph prepared his chariot and went up to Goshen to meet his father Israel; as soon as he appeared before him, he fell on his neck and wept on his neck a long time.

32 D irei que os homens são pastores, cuidam de rebanhos, e trouxeram consigo suas ovelhas, seus bois e tudo quanto lhes pertence.

and the men are shepherds, for they have been keepers of livestock; and they have brought their flocks and their herds and all that they have.’

33 Q uando o faraó mandar chamá-los e perguntar: ‘Em que vocês trabalham?’,

When Pharaoh calls you and says, ‘ What is your occupation?’

34 r espondam-lhe assim: ‘Teus servos criam rebanhos desde pequenos, como o fizeram nossos antepassados’. Assim lhes será permitido habitar na região de Gósen, pois todos os pastores são desprezados pelos egípcios”.

you shall say, ‘Your servants have been keepers of livestock from our youth even until now, both we and our fathers,’ that you may live in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is loathsome to the Egyptians.”
