1 I srael partiu com tudo o que lhe pertencia. Ao chegar a Berseba, ofereceu sacrifícios ao Deus de Isaque, seu pai.

So Israel traveled with all he had to Beersheba. There he gave gifts to the God of his father Isaac.

4 E u mesmo descerei ao Egito com você e certamente o trarei de volta. E a mão de José fechará os seus olhos.”

I will go with you to Egypt. I will bring you out again. And Joseph’s hand will close your eyes.”

5 E ntão Jacó partiu de Berseba. Os filhos de Israel levaram seu pai Jacó, seus filhos e as suas mulheres nas carruagens que o faraó tinha enviado.

Then Jacob left Beersheba. The sons of Israel carried their father Jacob, their little ones and their wives in the wagons which Pharaoh had sent to carry him.

6 T ambém levaram os seus rebanhos e os bens que tinham adquirido em Canaã. Assim Jacó foi para o Egito com toda a sua descendência.

They took their animals and all the things they owned from the land of Canaan. And they came to Egypt, Jacob and all his children with him,

9 E stes foram os filhos de Rúben: Enoque, Palu, Hezrom e Carmi.

10 E stes foram os filhos de Simeão: Jemuel, Jamim, Oade, Jaquim, Zoar e Saul, filho de uma cananéia.

The sons of Simeon were Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jachin, Zohar, and Shaul, the son of a Canaanite woman.

11 E stes foram os filhos de Levi: Gérson, Coate e Merari.

The sons of Levi were Gershon, Kohath and Merari.

12 E stes foram os filhos de Judá: Er, Onã, Selá, Perez e Zerá. Er e Onã morreram na terra de Canaã. Estes foram os filhos de Perez: Hezrom e Hamul.

These are the sons who were born to Leah and Jacob in Paddan-aram, with his daughter Dinah. He had thirty-three sons and daughters.

16 E stes foram os filhos de Gade: Zefom, Hagi, Suni, Esbom, Eri, Arodi e Areli.

22 F oram esses os catorze descendentes que Raquel deu a Jacó.

These are the sons of Jacob and Rachel, fourteen sons in all.

23 O filho de Dã foi Husim.

Dan’s son was Hushim.

24 E stes foram os filhos de Naftali: Jazeel, Guni, Jezer e Silém.

The sons of Naphtali were Jahzeel, Guni, Jezer, and Shillem.

25 F oram esses os sete descendentes que Bila, serva que Labão tinha dado à sua filha Raquel, deu a Jacó.

These are the sons of Jacob and Bilhah, the woman whom Laban gave to his daughter Rachel. There were seven sons in all.

26 T odos os que foram para o Egito com Jacó, todos os seus descendentes, sem contar as mulheres de seus filhos, totalizaram sessenta e seis pessoas.

All the people who came to Egypt with Jacob, the children of his own body, were sixty-six people in all. Added to this were the wives of Jacob’s sons.

27 C om mais os dois filhos que nasceram a José no Egito, os membros da família de Jacó que foram para o Egito chegaram a setenta.

Two sons were born to Joseph in Egypt. So all the people of Jacob’s family when he came to Egypt were seventy. Jacob Lives in Goshen

28 O ra, Jacó enviou Judá à sua frente a José, para saber como ir a Gósen. Quando lá chegaram,

29 J osé, de carruagem pronta, partiu para Gósen para encontrar-se com seu pai Israel. Assim que o viu, correu para abraçá-lo e, abraçado a ele, chorou longamente.

Then Joseph made his wagon ready and went to Goshen to meet his father Israel. When he came to him, they put their arms around each other and cried for a long time.

Then Israel said to Joseph, “Now let me die, since I have seen your face and know that you are still alive.”

31 E ntão José disse aos seus irmãos e a toda a família de seu pai: “Vou partir e informar ao faraó que os meus irmãos e toda a família de meu pai, que viviam em Canaã, vieram para cá.

Joseph said to his brothers and to his father’s family, “I will go and tell Pharaoh, ‘My brothers and my father’s family have come to me from the land of Canaan.

32 D irei que os homens são pastores, cuidam de rebanhos, e trouxeram consigo suas ovelhas, seus bois e tudo quanto lhes pertence.

And the men are shepherds, for they have taken care of animals. They have brought their flocks and cattle and all they have.’

33 Q uando o faraó mandar chamá-los e perguntar: ‘Em que vocês trabalham?’,

When Pharaoh calls you and says, ‘What is your work?’

34 r espondam-lhe assim: ‘Teus servos criam rebanhos desde pequenos, como o fizeram nossos antepassados’. Assim lhes será permitido habitar na região de Gósen, pois todos os pastores são desprezados pelos egípcios”.

you answer, ‘Your servants have taken care of cattle since we were young, both we and our fathers.’ Then he will let you live in the land of Goshen. For the Egyptians look down upon every shepherd.”
