After this David won the battle against the Philistines. And he took the most important city from the Philistines.
2 D avi derrotou também os moabitas. Ele os fez deitar-se no chão e mandou que os medissem com uma corda; os moabitas que ficavam dentro das duas primeiras medidas da corda eram mortos, mas os que ficavam dentro da terceira eram poupados. Assim, os moabitas ficaram sujeitos a Davi, pagando-lhe impostos.
He won the battle against Moab, and had them lie down on the ground in straight groups. Two groups were put to death, and one group was kept alive. The Moabites became servants to David and paid taxes to him.
3 A lém disso, Davi derrotou Hadadezer, filho de Reobe, rei de Zobá, quando Hadadezer tentava recuperar o controle na região do rio Eufrates.
Then David won the battle against Hadadezer the son of Rehob king of Zobah, as he went to get his power again at the Euphrates River.
4 D avi se apossou de mil dos seus carros de guerra, sete mil cavaleiros e vinte mil soldados de infantaria. Ainda levou cem cavalos de carros de guerra, e aleijou todos o outros.
David took 1, 700 horsemen and 20, 000 foot soldiers from him. He cut the legs of some of the war-wagon horses, but saved enough of them for 100 war-wagons.
5 Q uando os arameus de Damasco vieram ajudar Hadadezer, rei de Zobá, Davi matou vinte e dois mil deles.
When the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David killed 22, 000 of them.
6 E m seguida estabeleceu guarnições militares no reino dos arameus de Damasco, sujeitando-os a lhe pagarem impostos. E o Senhor dava vitórias a Davi em todos os lugares aonde ia.
Then he put groups of soldiers in Damascus of Syria. The Syrians became servants to David and were made to pay taxes to him. The Lord helped David every place he went.
7 D avi também levou para Jerusalém os escudos de ouro usados pelos oficiais de Hadadezer.
David took the coverings of gold which were carried by Hadadezer’s army, and brought them to Jerusalem.
8 D e Tebá e Berotai, cidades que pertenciam a Hadadezer, o rei Davi levou grande quantidade de bronze.
And he took a very large amount of brass from Hadadezer’s cities, Betah and Berothai.
9 Q uando Toú, rei de Hamate, soube que Davi tinha derrotado todo o exército de Hadadezer,
Now Toi king of Hamath heard that David had won the battle against the whole army of Hadadezer.
10 e nviou seu filho Jorão ao rei Davi para saudá-lo e parabenizá-lo por sua vitória na batalha contra Hadadezer, que tinha estado em guerra contra Toú. E, com Jorão, mandou todo tipo de utensílios de prata, de ouro e de bronze.
So Toi sent his son Joram to King David, to greet him and pray that good would come to him, because David had fought against Hadadezer and had won. Hadadezer had been at war with Toi. Joram brought with him objects of silver, gold and brass.
11 O rei Davi consagrou esses utensílios ao Senhor, como fizera com a prata e com o ouro tomados de todas as nações que havia subjugado:
David set these apart to the Lord, together with the silver and gold he had set apart from all the nations he had taken in battle.
12 E dom e Moabe, os amonitas e os filisteus, e Amaleque. Também consagrou os bens tomados de Hadadezer, filho de Reobe, rei de Zobá.
He had taken silver and gold from Syria, Moab, the sons of Ammon, the Philistines, Amalek, and from the things taken from Hadadezer the son of Rehob, king of Zobah.
13 D avi ficou ainda mais famoso ao retornar da batalha em que matou dezoito mil edomitas no vale do Sal.
So David’s name was very respected when he returned from killing 18, 000 Syrians in the Valley of Salt.
14 E le estabeleceu guarnições militares por todo o território de Edom, sujeitando todos os edomitas. O Senhor dava vitórias a Davi em todos os lugares aonde ia. Os Oficiais de Davi
And he put groups of soldiers in Edom. In all Edom he put soldiers, and all the Edomites became servants to David. The Lord helped David every place he went.
15 D avi reinou sobre todo o Israel, administrando o direito e a justiça a todo o seu povo.
So David ruled all of Israel. He did what was right and good and fair for all his people.
16 J oabe, filho de Zeruia, era comandante do exército; Josafá, filho de Ailude, era o arquivista real;
Joab the son of Zeruiah was the head of the army. Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud wrote down the important things of the nation.
17 Z adoque, filho de Aitube, e Aimeleque, filho de Abiatar, eram sacerdotes; Seraías era secretário;
Ahitub’s son Zadok and Abiathar’s son Ahimelech were religious leaders. Seraiah was the writer.
18 B enaia, filho de Joiada, comandava os queretitas e os peletitas; e os filhos de Davi eram sacerdotes.
Benaiah the son of Jehoiada ruled the Cherethites and the Pelethites. And David’s sons were the king’s helpers.
