1 T em misericórdia de mim, ó Deus, por teu amor; por tua grande compaixão apaga as minhas transgressões.

O God, favor me because of Your loving-kindness. Take away my wrong-doing because of the greatness of Your loving-pity.

2 L ava-me de toda a minha culpa e purifica-me do meu pecado.

Wash me inside and out from my wrong-doing and make me clean from my sin.

3 P ois eu mesmo reconheço as minhas transgressões, e o meu pecado sempre me persegue.

For I know my wrong-doing, and my sin is always in front of me.

4 C ontra ti, só contra ti, pequei e fiz o que tu reprovas, de modo que justa é a tua sentença e tens razão em condenar-me.

I have sinned against You, and You only. I have done what is sinful in Your eyes. You are always right when You speak, and fair when You judge.

5 S ei que sou pecador desde que nasci, sim, desde que me concebeu minha mãe.

See, I was born in sin and was in sin from my very beginning.

6 S ei que desejas a verdade no íntimo; e no coração me ensinas a sabedoria.

See, You want truth deep within the heart. And You will make me know wisdom in the hidden part.

7 P urifica-me com hissopo, e ficarei puro; lava-me, e mais branco do que a neve serei.

Take away my sin, and I will be clean. Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.

8 F aze-me ouvir de novo júbilo e alegria, e os ossos que esmagaste exultarão.

Make me hear joy and happiness. Let the bones that You have broken be full of joy.

9 E sconde o rosto dos meus pecados e apaga todas as minhas iniqüidades.

Hide Your face from my sins. And take away all my wrong-doing.

10 C ria em mim um coração puro, ó Deus, e renova dentro de mim um espírito estável.

Make a clean heart in me, O God. Give me a new spirit that will not be moved.

11 N ão me expulses da tua presença, nem tires de mim o teu Santo Espírito.

Do not throw me away from where You are. And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.

12 D evolve-me a alegria da tua salvação e sustenta-me com um espírito pronto a obedecer.

Let the joy of Your saving power return to me. And give me a willing spirit to obey you.

13 E ntão ensinarei os teus caminhos aos transgressores, para que os pecadores se voltem para ti.

Then I will teach wrong-doers Your ways. And sinners will turn to You.

14 L ivra-me da culpa dos crimes de sangue, ó Deus, Deus da minha salvação! E a minha língua aclamará a tua justiça.

Save me from the guilt of blood, O God. You are the God Who saves me. Then my tongue will sing with joy about how right and good You are.

15 Ó Senhor, dá palavras aos meus lábios, e a minha boca anunciará o teu louvor.

O Lord, open my lips, so my mouth will praise You.

16 N ão te deleitas em sacrifícios nem te agradas em holocaustos, se não eu os traria.

For You are not happy with a gift given on the altar in worship, or I would give it. You are not pleased with burnt gifts.

17 O s sacrifícios que agradam a Deus são um espírito quebrantado; um coração quebrantado e contrito, ó Deus, não desprezarás.

The gifts on an altar that God wants are a broken spirit. O God, You will not hate a broken heart and a heart with no pride.

18 P or tua boa vontade faze Sião prosperar; ergue os muros de Jerusalém.

Be pleased to do good to Zion. Build the walls of Jerusalem.

19 E ntão te agradarás dos sacrifícios sinceros, das ofertas queimadas e dos holocaustos; e novilhos serão oferecidos sobre o teu altar.

Then You will be happy with gifts given on the altar that are right and good, with burnt gifts and whole burnt gifts. Then young bulls will be given on Your altar.
