3 N ão confiem em príncipes, em meros mortais, incapazes de salvar.

Do not trust in princes, In mortal man, in whom there is no salvation.

4 Q uando o espírito deles se vai, eles voltam ao pó; naquele mesmo dia acabam-se os seus planos.

His spirit departs, he returns to the earth; In that very day his thoughts perish.

5 C omo é feliz aquele cujo auxílio é o Deus de Jacó, cuja esperança está no Senhor, no seu Deus,

How blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, Whose hope is in the Lord his God,

6 q ue fez os céus e a terra, o mar e tudo o que neles há, e que mantém a sua fidelidade para sempre!

Who made heaven and earth, The sea and all that is in them; Who keeps faith forever;

7 E le defende a causa dos oprimidos e dá alimento aos famintos. O Senhor liberta os presos,

Who executes justice for the oppressed; Who gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets the prisoners free.

8 o Senhor dá vista aos cegos, o Senhor levanta os abatidos, o Senhor ama os justos.

The Lord opens the eyes of the blind; The Lord raises up those who are bowed down; The Lord loves the righteous;

9 O Senhor protege o estrangeiro e sustém o órfão e a viúva, mas frustra o propósito dos ímpios.

The Lord protects the strangers; He supports the fatherless and the widow, But He thwarts the way of the wicked.

10 O Senhor reina para sempre! O teu Deus, ó Sião, reina de geração em geração. Aleluia!
