1 Y ou shall not sacrifice to Yahweh your God an ox, or a sheep, in which is a defect, or anything evil; for that is an abomination to Yahweh your God.

Ao Senhor teu Deus não sacrificarás boi ou ovelha em que haja defeito ou qualquer deformidade; pois isso é abominação ao senhor teu Deus.

2 I f there is found among you, within any of your gates which Yahweh your God gives you, a man or woman who does that which is evil in Yahweh your God’s sight, in transgressing his covenant,

Se no meio de ti, em alguma das tuas cidades que te dá o Senhor teu Deus, for encontrado algum homem ou mulher que tenha feito o que é mau aos olhos do Senhor teu Deus, transgredindo o seu pacto,

3 a nd has gone and served other gods, and worshiped them, or the sun, or the moon, or any of the stars of the sky, which I have not commanded;

que tenha ido e servido a outros deuses, adorando-os, a eles, ou ao sol, ou ã lua, ou a qualquer astro do exército do céu (o que não ordenei),

4 a nd you are told, and you have heard of it, then you shall inquire diligently. Behold, if it is true, and the thing certain, that such abomination is done in Israel,

e isso te for denunciado, e o ouvires, então o inquirirás bem; e eis que, sendo realmente verdade que se fez tal abominação em Israel,

5 t hen you shall bring out that man or that woman, who has done this evil thing, to your gates, even that same man or woman; and you shall stone them to death with stones.

6 A t the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, he who is to die shall be put to death. At the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death.

7 T he hand of the witnesses shall be first on him to put him to death, and afterward the hand of all the people. So you shall remove the evil from among you.

A mão das testemunhas será a primeira contra ele, para matá-lo, e depois a mão de todo o povo; assim exterminarás o mal do meio de ti.

8 I f there arises a matter too hard for you in judgment, between blood and blood, between plea and plea, and between stroke and stroke, being matters of controversy within your gates; then you shall arise, and go up to the place which Yahweh your God chooses.

Se alguma causa te for difícil demais em juizo, entre sangue e sangue, entre demanda e demanda, entre ferida e ferida, tornando-se motivo de controvérsia nas tuas portas, então te levantarás e subirás ao lugar que o Senhor teu Deus escolher;

9 Y ou shall come to the priests who are Levites, and to the judge who shall be in those days. You shall inquire, and they shall give you the verdict.

10 Y ou shall do according to the decisions of the verdict which they shall give you from that place which Yahweh chooses. You shall observe to do according to all that they shall teach you:

Depois cumprirás fielmente a sentença que te anunciarem no lugar que o Senhor escolher; e terás cuidado de fazer conforme tudo o que te ensinarem.

11 a ccording to the decisions of the law which they shall teach you, and according to the judgment which they shall tell you, you shall do. You shall not turn aside from the sentence which they shall show you, to the right hand, nor to the left.

Conforme o teor da lei que te ensinarem, e conforme o juízo que pronunciarem, farás da palavra que te disserem não te desviarás, nem para a direita nem para a esquerda.

12 T he man who does presumptuously, in not listening to the priest who stands to minister there before Yahweh your God, or to the judge, even that man shall die. You shall put away the evil from Israel.

O homem que se houver soberbamente, não dando ouvidos ao sacerdote, que está ali para servir ao Senhor teu Deus, nem ao juiz, esse homem morrerá; assumirá de Israel o mal.

13 A ll the people shall hear, and fear, and do no more presumptuously.

E todo o povo, ouvindo isso, temerá e nunca mais se ensoberbecerá.

14 W hen you have come to the land which Yahweh your God gives you, and possess it, and dwell in it, and say, “I will set a king over me, like all the nations that are around me”;

Quando entrares na terra que o Senhor teu Deus te dá, e a possuíres e, nela habitando, disseres: Porei sobre mim um rei, como o fazem todas as nações que estão em redor de mim;

15 y ou shall surely set him king over yourselves, whom Yahweh your God chooses. You shall set as king over you one from among your brothers. You may not put a foreigner over you, who is not your brother.

porás certamente sobre ti como rei aquele que o Senhor teu Deus escolher. Porás um dentre teus irmãos como rei sobre ti; não poderás pôr sobre ti um estrangeiro, homem que não seja de teus irmãos.

16 O nly he shall not multiply horses to himself, nor cause the people to return to Egypt, to the end that he may multiply horses; because Yahweh has said to you, “You shall not go back that way again.”

Ele, porém, não multiplicará para si cavalos, nem fará voltar o povo ao Egito, para multiplicar cavalos; pois o Senhor vos tem dito: Nunca mais voltareis por este caminho.

17 H e shall not multiply wives to himself, that his heart not turn away. He shall not greatly multiply to himself silver and gold.

Tampouco multiplicará para si mulheres, para que o seu coração não se desvie; nem multiplicará muito para si a prata e o ouro.

18 I t shall be, when he sits on the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write himself a copy of this law in a book, out of that which is before the priests the Levites.

Será também que, quando se assentar sobre o trono do seu reino, escreverá para si, num livro, uma cópia desta lei, do exemplar que está diante dos levitas sacerdotes.

19 I t shall be with him, and he shall read from it all the days of his life; that he may learn to fear Yahweh his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them;

E o terá consigo, e nele lerá todos os dias da sua vida, para que aprenda a temer ao Senhor seu Deus, e a guardar todas as palavras desta lei, e estes estatutos, a fim de os cumprir;

20 t hat his heart not be lifted up above his brothers, and that he not turn aside from the commandment, to the right hand, or to the left; to the end that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he and his children, in the middle of Israel.

para que seu coração não se exalte sobre seus irmãos, e não se aparte do mandamento, nem para a direita nem para a esquerda; a fim de que prolongue os seus dias no seu reino, ele e seus filhos, no meio de Israel.
