1 I will give thanks unto Jehovah with my whole heart; I will show forth all thy marvellous works.

2 I will be glad and exult in thee; I will sing praise to thy name, O thou Most High.

Gioirò e mi rallegrerò in te; canterò le lodi al tuo nome, o Altissimo.

3 W hen mine enemies turn back, They stumble and perish at thy presence.

Poiché i miei nemici voltano le spalle, cadono e periscono davanti a te.

4 F or thou hast maintained my right and my cause; Thou sittest in the throne judging righteously.

Tu infatti hai sostenuto la mia rettitudine e la mia causa, ti sei assiso sul trono come giusto giudice.

5 T hou hast rebuked the nations, thou hast destroyed the wicked; Thou hast blotted out their name for ever and ever.

Tu hai sgridato le nazioni, hai distrutto l'empio, hai cancellato il loro nome per sempre.

6 T he enemy are come to an end, they are desolate for ever; And the cities which thou hast overthrown, The very remembrance of them is perished.

Il nemico è perito, raggiunto da una desolazione eterna! E delle città che tu hai distrutto è scomparso persino il ricordo.

7 B ut Jehovah sitteth as king for ever: He hath prepared his throne for judgment;

Ma l'Eterno rimane per sempre; egli ha stabilito il suo trono per far giudizio.

8 A nd he will judge the world in righteousness, He will minister judgment to the peoples in uprightness.

Egli giudicherà il mondo con giustizia giudicherà i popoli con rettitudine.

9 J ehovah also will be a high tower for the oppressed, A high tower in times of trouble;

L'Eterno sarà un rifugio inespugnabile per l'oppresso, un rifugio inespugnabile in tempi di distretta.

10 A nd they that know thy name will put their trust in thee; For thou, Jehovah, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

E quelli che conoscono il tuo nome confideranno in te, perché tu, o Eterno, non abbandoni quelli che ti cercano.

11 S ing praises to Jehovah, who dwelleth in Zion: Declare among the people his doings.

Cantate lodi all'Eterno che abita in Sion; annunziate fra i popoli le sue opere.

12 F or he that maketh inquisition for blood remembereth them; He forgetteth not the cry of the poor.

Poiché colui che domanda ragione del sangue si ricorda di loro; egli non dimentica il grido degli afflitti.

13 H ave mercy upon me, O Jehovah; Behold my affliction which I suffer of them that hate me, Thou that liftest me up from the gates of death;

Abbi pietà di me, o Eterno, tu che mi fai risalire dalle porte della morte, vedi l'afflizione che soffro da parte di quelli che mi odiano,

14 T hat I may show forth all thy praise. In the gates of the daughter of Zion I will rejoice in thy salvation.

affinché possa raccontare tutte le tue lodi, e alle porte della figlia di Sion possa festeggiare per la tua liberazione.

15 T he nations are sunk down in the pit that they made: In the net which they hid is their own foot taken.

Le nazioni sono sprofondate nella fossa che avevano fatta; il loro piede è stato preso nella rete che avevano nascosta.

16 J ehovah hath made himself known, he hath executed judgment: The wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah

L'Eterno si è fatto conoscere per mezzo del giudizio che ha fatto; l'empio è stato preso al laccio dall'opera delle sue stesse mani. (Interludio. Sela)

17 T he wicked shall be turned back unto Sheol, Even all the nations that forget God.

Gli empi scenderanno nello Sceol; sí, tutte le nazioni che dimenticano DIO,

18 F or the needy shall not alway be forgotten, Nor the expectation of the poor perish for ever.

Poiché il bisognoso non sarà dimenticato per sempre; la speranza degli oppressi non perirà per sempre.

19 A rise, O Jehovah; let not man prevail: Let the nations be judged in thy sight.

Levati, o Eterno; non lasciare che il mortale abbia il sopravvento; siano giudicate le nazioni davanti a te.

20 P ut them in fear, O Jehovah: Let the nations know themselves to be but men. Selah

O Eterno, infondi in loro spavento; fa' che le nazioni riconoscano di essere semplicemente dei mortali. (Sela)
