1 J ehovah, I have called upon thee; make haste unto me: Give ear unto my voice, when I call unto thee.

«Salmo di Davide.» O Eterno, io grido a te; affrettati a rispondermi. Porgi orecchio alla mia voce, quando grido a te.

2 L et my prayer be set forth as incense before thee; The lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

Giunga la mia preghiera davanti a te come l'incenso, l'elevazione delle mie mani come il sacrificio della sera.

3 S et a watch, O Jehovah, before my mouth; Keep the door of my lips.

O Eterno, poni una guardia davanti alla mia bocca.

4 I ncline not my heart to any evil thing, To practise deeds of wickedness With men that work iniquity: And let me not eat of their dainties.

Non permettere che il mio cuore sia attirato da alcuna cosa malvagia, per commettere opere malvagie con gli operatori d'iniquità, e fa' che io non mangi dei loro cibi squisiti.

5 L et the righteous smite me, it shall be a kindness; And let him reprove me, it shall be as oil upon the head; Let not my head refuse it: For even in their wickedness shall my prayer continue.

Mi percuota pure il giusto, sarà una cortesia; mi riprenda pure, sarà come olio sul capo; il mio capo non lo rifiuterà. Ma la mia preghiera continua ad essere contro le loro opere malvagie.

6 T heir judges are thrown down by the sides of the rock; And they shall hear my words; for they are sweet.

I loro principi sono stati precipitati dai dirupi, ed essi daranno ascolto alle mie parole, perché sono piacevoli.

7 A s when one ploweth and cleaveth the earth, Our bones are scattered at the mouth of Sheol.

Come quando uno ara e apre la terra, cosí le nostre ossa sono sparse all'ingresso dello Sceol.

8 F or mine eyes are unto thee, O Jehovah the Lord: In thee do I take refuge; leave not my soul destitute.

Ma i miei occhi sono rivolti a te, o Eterno, mio Signore; io mi rifugio in te, non lasciarmi indifeso.

9 K eep me from the snare which they have laid for me, And from the gins of the workers of iniquity.

Preservami dal laccio che mi hanno teso e dai tranelli degli operatori d'iniquità.

10 L et the wicked fall into their own nets, Whilst that I withal escape.

Cadano gli empi nelle loro stesse reti, mentre io passerò oltre.
