1 A nd I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth are passed away; and the sea is no more.

Poi vidi un nuovo cielo e una nuova terra, perché il primo cielo e la prima terra erano passati, e il mare non c'era piú.

2 A nd I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven of God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband.

E io, Giovanni, vidi la santa città, la nuova Gerusalemme, che scendeva dal cielo da presso Dio, pronta come una sposa adorna per il suo sposo.

3 A nd I heard a great voice out of the throne saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he shall dwell with them, and they shall be his peoples, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God:

E udii una gran voce dal cielo, che diceva: «Ecco il tabernacolo di Dio con gli uomini! Ed egli abiterà con loro; e essi saranno suo popolo e Dio stesso sarà con loro e sarà il loro Dio.

4 a nd he shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; and death shall be no more; neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more: the first things are passed away.

E Dio asciugherà ogni lacrima dai loro occhi, e non ci sarà piú la morte né cordoglio né grido né fatica, perché le cose di prima son passate».

5 A nd he that sitteth on the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he saith, Write: for these words are faithful and true.

Allora colui che sedeva sul trono disse: «Ecco, io faccio tutte le cose nuove». Poi mi disse: «Scrivi, perché queste parole sono veraci e fedeli».

6 A nd he said unto me, They are come to pass. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

E mi disse ancora: «E' fatto! Io sono l'Alfa e l'Omega, il principio e la fine; a chi ha sete io darò in dono della fonte dell'acqua della vita.

7 H e that overcometh shall inherit these things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

Chi vince erediterà tutte le cose, e io sarò per lui Dio ed egli sarà per me figlio.

8 B ut for the fearful, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and fornicators, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, their part shall be in the lake that burneth with fire and brimstone; which is the second death.

Ma per i codardi, gl'increduli, gl'immondi, gli omicidi, i fornicatori, i maghi, gli idolatri e tutti i bugiardi, la loro parte sarà nello stagno che arde con fuoco e zolfo, che è la morte seconda».

9 A nd there came one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls, who were laden with the seven last plagues; and he spake with me, saying, Come hither, I will show thee the bride, the wife of the Lamb.

Poi venne uno dei sette angeli che avevano le sette coppe piene delle ultime sette piaghe, e parlò con me, dicendo: «Vieni, ti mostrerò la sposa, la moglie dell'Agnello».

10 A nd he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the holy city Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God,

E mi trasportò in spirito su di un grande ed alto monte, e mi mostrò la grande città, la santa Gerusalemme che scendeva dal cielo da presso Dio,

11 h aving the glory of God: her light was like unto a stone most precious, as it were a jasper stone, clear as crystal:

avendo la gloria di Dio. E il suo splendore era simile a quello di una pietra preziosissima, come una pietra di diaspro cristallino.

12 h aving a wall great and high; having twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels; and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:

Essa aveva un grande ed alto muro con dodici porte, e alle porte dodici angeli, e su di esse dei nomi scritti che sono i nomi delle dodici tribú dei figli d'Israele.

13 o n the east were three gates; and on the north three gates; and on the south three gates; and on the west three gates.

A oriente vi erano tre porte, a settentrione tre porte, a mezzogiorno tre porte e ad occidente tre porte.

14 A nd the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

Il muro della città aveva dodici fondamenti, e su quelli erano i dodici nomi dei dodici apostoli dell'Agnello.

15 A nd he that spake with me had for a measure a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof.

E colui che parlava con me aveva una canna d'oro, per misurare la città, le sue porte e il suo muro.

16 A nd the city lieth foursquare, and the length thereof is as great as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs: the length and the breadth and the height thereof are equal.

La città era a forma quadrangolare, e la sua lunghezza era uguale alla larghezza; egli misurò la città con la canna, ed era di dodicimila stadi; la sua lunghezza, larghezza e altezza erano uguali.

17 A nd he measured the wall thereof, a hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of an angel.

Misurò anche il muro ed era di centoquarantaquattro cubiti, a misura di uomo, cioè d'angelo.

18 A nd the building of the wall thereof was jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto pure glass.

Il muro era fatto di diaspro; e la città era di oro puro, simile a cristallo trasparente.

19 T he foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, chalcedony; the fourth, emerald;

Le fondamenta del muro della città erano adorne d'ogni pietra preziosa; il primo fondamento era di diaspro, il secondo di zaffiro, il terzo di calcedonio, il quarto di smeraldo,

20 t he fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, topaz; the tenth, chrysoprase; the eleventh, jacinth; the twelfth, amethyst.

il quinto di sardonico, il sesto di sardio, il settimo di crisolito l'ottavo di berillo, il nono di topazio, il decimo di crisopazio, l'undicesimo di giacinto, il dodicesimo di ametista.

21 A nd the twelve gates were twelve pearls; each one of the several gates was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.

E le dodici porte erano dodici perle; ciascuna delle porte era fatta di una sola perla; e la piazza della città era di oro puro, come di cristallo trasparente.

22 A nd I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God the Almighty, and the Lamb, are the temple thereof.

Non vidi in essa alcun tempio, perché il Signore Dio onnipotente e l'Agnello sono il suo tempio.

23 A nd the city hath no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine upon it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the lamp thereof is the Lamb.

E la città non ha bisogno del sole né della luna, che risplendano in lei, perché la gloria di Dio la illumina e l'Agnello è il suo luminare.

24 A nd the nations shall walk amidst the light thereof: and the kings of the earth bring their glory into it.

E le nazioni di quelli che sono salvati cammineranno alla sua luce, e i re della terra porteranno la loro gloria ed onore in lei.

25 A nd the gates thereof shall in no wise be shut by day (for there shall be no night there):

Le sue porte non saranno mai chiuse durante il giorno, perché lí non vi sarà notte alcuna.

26 a nd they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it:

In lei si porterà la gloria e l'onore delle nazioni.

27 a nd there shall in no wise enter into it anything unclean, or he that maketh an abomination and a lie: but only they that are written in the Lamb's book of life.

E nulla d'immondo e nessuno che commetta abominazione o falsità vi entrerà mai, ma soltanto quelli che sono scritti nel libro della vita dell'Agnello.
