1 T he priests the Levites, even all the tribe of Levi, shall have no portion nor inheritance with Israel: they shall eat the offerings of Jehovah made by fire, and his inheritance.

I sacerdoti levitici, tutta la tribú di Levi, non avranno parte né eredità con Israele; vivranno dei sacrifici fatti col fuoco all'Eterno, la sua eredità.

2 A nd they shall have no inheritance among their brethren: Jehovah is their inheritance, as he hath spoken unto them.

Non avranno alcuna eredità tra i loro fratelli; poiché l'Eterno è la loro eredità, come ha detto loro.

3 A nd this shall be the priests' due from the people, from them that offer a sacrifice, whether it be ox or sheep, that they shall give unto the priest the shoulder, and the two cheeks, and the maw.

Questo è ciò che è dovuto al sacerdote da parte del popolo, da quelli che offrono un sacrificio, sia esso un bue o una pecora o capra: essi daranno al sacerdote la spalla, le mascelle e lo stomaco.

4 T he first-fruits of thy grain, of thy new wine, and of thine oil, and the first of the fleece of thy sheep, shalt thou give him.

Gli darai le primizie del tuo frumento, del tuo mosto e del tuo olio, e le primizie della tosatura delle tue pecore;

5 F or Jehovah thy God hath chosen him out of all thy tribes, to stand to minister in the name of Jehovah, him and his sons for ever.

poiché l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, lo ha scelto fra tutte le tue tribú, per compiere il servizio nel nome dell'Eterno, lui e i suoi figli per sempre.

6 A nd if a Levite come from any of thy gates out of all Israel, where he sojourneth, and come with all the desire of his soul unto the place which Jehovah shall choose;

Or se un Levita, proveniente da una delle tue città dell'intero Israele, dove egli risiedeva, viene con tutto il desiderio del suo cuore al luogo che l'Eterno ha scelto,

7 t hen he shall minister in the name of Jehovah his God, as all his brethren the Levites do, who stand there before Jehovah.

allora egli potrà servire nel nome dell'Eterno, il suo DIO, come tutti i suoi fratelli Leviti che stanno là davanti all'Eterno.

8 T hey shall have like portions to eat, besides that which cometh of the sale of his patrimony.

Essi riceveranno per il loro sostentamento parti uguali, oltre al ricavato della vendita del suo patrimonio.

9 W hen thou art come into the land which Jehovah thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.

Quando entrerai nel paese che l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, ti dà, non imparerai a seguire le abominazioni di quelle nazioni.

10 T here shall not be found with thee any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, one that useth divination, one that practiseth augury, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer,

Non si trovi in mezzo a te chi faccia passare il proprio figlio o la propria figlia per il fuoco, né chi pratichi la divinazione, né indovino, né chi interpreta presagi, né chi pratica la magia,

11 o r a charmer, or a consulter with a familiar spirit, or a wizard, or a necromancer.

né chi usa incantesimi, né un medium che consulta spiriti, né uno stregone, né chi evoca i morti,

12 F or whosoever doeth these things is an abomination unto Jehovah: and because of these abominations Jehovah thy God doth drive them out from before thee.

perché tutti quelli che fanno queste cose sono in abominio all'Eterno; e a motivo di queste abominazioni, l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, sta per scacciarli davanti a te.

13 T hou shalt be perfect with Jehovah thy God.

Tu sarai integro davanti all'Eterno, il tuo DIO;

14 F or these nations, that thou shalt dispossess, hearken unto them that practise augury, and unto diviners; but as for thee, Jehovah thy God hath not suffered thee so to do.

poiché quelle nazioni, che tu scaccerai, hanno dato ascolto a indovini e a maghi; ma, quanto a te, l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, non ha permesso che tu faccia così.

15 J ehovah thy God will raise up unto thee a prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;

L'Eterno, il tuo DIO, susciterà per te un profeta come me, in mezzo a te, fra i tuoi fratelli; a lui darete ascolto,

16 a ccording to all that thou desiredst of Jehovah thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of Jehovah my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not.

in base a tutto ciò che chiedesti all'Eterno, il tuo DIO, in Horeb, il giorno dell'assemblea, quando dicesti: "Che io non oda piú la voce dell'Eterno, il mio DIO, e non veda piú questo gran fuoco, perché non muoia".

17 A nd Jehovah said unto me, They have well said that which they have spoken.

E l'Eterno mi disse: "Ciò che hanno detto, va bene;

18 I will raise them up a prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee; and I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.

io susciterò per loro un profeta come te di mezzo ai loro fratelli e porrò le mie parole nella sua bocca, ed egli dirà loro tutto ciò che io gli comanderò.

19 A nd it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.

E avverrà che se qualcuno non ascolterà le mie parole che egli dice in mio nome, io gliene domanderò conto.

20 B ut the prophet, that shall speak a word presumptuously in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, that same prophet shall die.

Ma il profeta che ha la presunzione di dire in mio nome una cosa che io non gli ho comandato di dire o che parla in nome di altri dèi, quel profeta sarà messo a morte".

21 A nd if thou say in thy heart, How shall we know the word which Jehovah hath not spoken?

E se tu dici in cuor tuo: "Come faremo a riconoscere la parola che l'Eterno non ha proferito?".

22 w hen a prophet speaketh in the name of Jehovah, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which Jehovah hath not spoken: the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously, thou shalt not be afraid of him.

Quando il profeta parla in nome dell'Eterno e la cosa non succede e non si avvera, quella è una cosa che l'Eterno non ha proferito; l'ha detta il profeta per presunzione; non aver paura di lui».
