1 A t the end of every seven years thou shalt make a release.

«Alla fine di ogni sette anni concederai la remissione dei debiti.

2 A nd this is the manner of the release: every creditor shall release that which he hath lent unto his neighbor; he shall not exact it of his neighbor and his brother; because Jehovah's release hath been proclaimed.

E questa sarà la forma della remissione: Ogni creditore condonerà ciò che ha dato in prestito al suo prossimo; non esigerà la restituzione dal suo prossimo e dal suo fratello, perché è stata proclamata la remissione dell'Eterno.

3 O f a foreigner thou mayest exact it: but whatsoever of thine is with thy brother thy hand shall release.

Potrai richiederlo dallo straniero; ma condonerai al tuo fratello quanto egli ti deve.

4 H owbeit there shall be no poor with thee; (for Jehovah will surely bless thee in the land which Jehovah thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it;)

Non vi sarà tuttavia alcun bisognoso tra di voi, poiché l'Eterno ti benedirà grandemente nel paese che l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, ti dà in eredità, perché tu lo possieda,

5 i f only thou diligently hearken unto the voice of Jehovah thy God, to observe to do all this commandment which I command thee this day.

solo però se tu ubbidisci diligentemente alla voce dell'Eterno, il tuo DIO, avendo cura di mettere in pratica tutti questi comandamenti, che oggi ti prescrivo.

6 F or Jehovah thy God will bless thee, as he promised thee: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, but thou shalt not borrow; and thou shalt rule over many nations, but they shall not rule over thee.

Poiché l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, ti benedirà come ti ha promesso; allora farai prestiti a molte nazioni, ma tu non chiederai prestiti; dominerai su molte nazioni, ma esse non domineranno su di te.

7 I f there be with thee a poor man, one of thy brethren, within any of thy gates in thy land which Jehovah thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thy heart, nor shut thy hand from thy poor brother;

Se vi sarà qualche tuo fratello bisognoso in mezzo a te, in alcuna delle tue città del paese che l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, ti dà, non indurirai il tuo cuore e non chiuderai la tua mano davanti al tuo fratello bisognoso;

8 b ut thou shalt surely open thy hand unto him, and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need in that which he wanteth.

ma gli aprirai generosamente la tua mano e gli presterai quanto gli occorre per venire incontro al bisogno in cui si trova.

9 B eware that there be not a base thought in thy heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand; and thine eye be evil against thy poor brother, and thou give him nought; and he cry unto Jehovah against thee, and it be sin unto thee.

Bada che non vi sia alcun cattivo pensiero nel tuo cuore, che ti faccia dire: "Il settimo anno, l'anno di remissione, è vicino", e il tuo occhio sia cattivo verso il tuo fratello bisognoso e tu non gli dia nulla; egli griderebbe contro di te all'Eterno e ci sarebbe del peccato in te.

10 T hou shalt surely give him, and thy heart shall not be grieved when thou givest unto him; because that for this thing Jehovah thy God will bless thee in all thy work, and in all that thou puttest thy hand unto.

Dàgli generosamente, e il tuo cuore non si rattristi quando gli dai, perché proprio per questo, l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, ti benedirà in ogni tuo lavoro e in ogni cosa a cui porrai mano.

11 F or the poor will never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt surely open thy hand unto thy brother, to thy needy, and to thy poor, in thy land.

Poiché i bisognosi non mancheranno mai nel paese, perciò io ti do questo comandamento e ti dico: "Apri generosamente la tua mano a tuo fratello, al tuo povero e al tuo bisognoso nel tuo paese".

12 I f thy brother, a Hebrew man, or a Hebrew woman, be sold unto thee, and serve thee six years; then in the seventh year thou shalt let him go free from thee.

Se un tuo fratello ebreo o una sorella ebrea si vende a te, ti servirà sei anni; ma il settimo, lo lascerai andare da te libero.

13 A nd when thou lettest him go free from thee, thou shalt not let him go empty:

Quando poi lo manderai via da te libero, non lo lascerai andare a mani vuote;

14 t hou shalt furnish him liberally out of thy flock, and out of thy threshing-floor, and out of thy winepress; as Jehovah thy God hath blessed thee thou shalt give unto him.

lo fornirai generosamente di doni del tuo gregge, della tua aia e del tuo strettoio; gli farai parte delle benedizioni di cui l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, ti avrà ricolmato;

15 A nd thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in the land of Egypt, and Jehovah thy God redeemed thee: therefore I command thee this thing to-day.

e ti ricorderai che sei stato schiavo nel paese d'Egitto e che l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, ti ha redento; perciò oggi io ti comandoquesto.

16 A nd it shall be, if he say unto thee, I will not go out from thee; because he loveth thee and thy house, because he is well with thee;

Ma se egli dovesse dirti: "Non voglio andarmene da te", perché ama te e la tua casa, dato che prospera con te,

17 t hen thou shalt take an awl, and thrust it through his ear unto the door, and he shall be thy servant for ever. And also unto thy maid-servant thou shalt do likewise.

allora prenderai un punteruolo, gli forerai l'orecchio contro la porta ed egli sarà tuo schiavo per sempre. Lo stesso farai per la tua schiava.

18 I t shall not seem hard unto thee, when thou lettest him go free from thee; for to the double of the hire of a hireling hath he served thee six years: and Jehovah thy God will bless thee in all that thou doest.

Non ti deve sembrare difficile rimandarlo da te libero, poiché t'ha servito sei anni a metà prezzo di un bracciante; e l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, ti benedirà in tutto ciò che farai.

19 A ll the firstling males that are born of thy herd and of thy flock thou shalt sanctify unto Jehovah thy God: thou shalt do no work with the firstling of thy herd, nor shear the firstling of thy flock.

Consacrerai all'Eterno, il tuo DIO, tutti i primogeniti maschi che nasceranno dalla tua mandria e dal tuo gregge. Non farai alcun lavoro con il primogenito della tua vacca e non toserai il primogenito della tua pecora.

20 T hou shalt eat it before Jehovah thy God year by year in the place which Jehovah shall choose, thou and thy household.

Li mangerai ogni anno, tu e la tua famiglia, davanti all'Eterno, il tuo DIO, nel luogo che l'Eterno ha scelto.

21 A nd if it have any blemish, as if it be lame or blind, any ill blemish whatsoever, thou shalt not sacrifice it unto Jehovah thy God.

Ma se l'animale ha qualche difetto, se è zoppo, cieco, o ha qualche altro grave difetto, non lo sacrificherai all'Eterno, il tuo DIO;

22 T hou shalt eat it within thy gates: the unclean and the clean shall eat it alike, as the gazelle, and as the hart.

lo mangerai entro le tue porte; l'impuro e il puro lo possono ugualmente mangiare, come se fosse una gazzella o un cervo.

23 O nly thou shalt not eat the blood thereof; thou shalt pour it out upon the ground as water.

Ma non ne mangerai il sangue; lo verserai per terra come l'acqua».
