1 T he word of Jehovah came again unto me, saying,

3 a nd say unto Tyre, O thou that dwellest at the entry of the sea, that art the merchant of the peoples unto many isles, thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Thou, O Tyre, hast said, I am perfect in beauty.

e di' a Tiro: O tu che sei posta all'ingresso del mare tu che commerci con i popoli in molte isole, cosí dice il Signore, l'Eterno: O Tiro, tu hai detto: "Io sono di una bellezza perfetta".

4 T hy borders are in the heart of the seas; thy builders have perfected thy beauty.

I tuoi confini sono nel cuore dei mari i tuoi costruttori ti hanno fatta di una bellezza perfetta.

5 T hey have made all thy planks of fir-trees from Senir; they have taken a cedar from Lebanon to make a mast for thee.

Hanno fatto tutte le assi delle tue navi con cipressi di Senira, hanno preso dei cedri del Libano per farti l'albero maestro;

6 O f the oaks of Bashan have they made thine oars; they have made thy benches of ivory inlaid in boxwood, from the isles of Kittim.

hanno fatto i tuoi remi con querce di Bashan, hanno fatto il tuo ponte con legno di bosco intarsiato d'avorio portato dalle isole di Kittim.

7 O f fine linen with broidered work from Egypt was thy sail, that it might be to thee for an ensign; blue and purple from the isles of Elishah was thine awning.

Era di lino fino d'Egitto lavorato a ricami, la vela che hai spiegata perché ti servisse da bandiera; ciò che ti ricopriva era di giacinto e di porpora e proveniva dalle isole di Elishah.

8 T he inhabitants of Sidon and Arvad were thy rowers: thy wise men, O Tyre, were in thee, they were thy pilots.

Gli abitanti di Sidone e di Arvad erano i tuoi rematori; i tuoi savi, o Tiro, erano in te, essi erano i tuoi piloti.

9 T he old men of Gebal and the wise men thereof were in thee thy calkers: all the ships of the sea with their mariners were in thee to deal in thy merchandise.

In te c'erano gli anziani di Ghebal e i suoi esperti per riparare le tue falle; in te c'erano tutte le navi del mare e i loro marinai per scambiare le tue merci.

10 P ersia and Lud and Put were in thine army, thy men of war: they hanged the shield and helmet in thee; they set forth thy comeliness.

Quelli della Persia, di Lud e di Put erano nel tuo esercito, come uomini di guerra; essi appendevano in te scudo ed elmo e conferivano a te splendore.

11 T he men of Arvad with thine army were upon thy walls round about, and valorous men were in thy towers; they hanged their shields upon thy walls round about; they have perfected thy beauty.

I figli di Arvad e il tuo esercito erano tutt'intorno sulle tue mura e uomini prodi stavano sulle tue torri; essi appendevano i loro scudi intorno alle tue mura; essi rendevano perfetta la tua bellezza.

12 T arshish was thy merchant by reason of the multitude of all kinds of riches; with silver, iron, tin, and lead, they traded for thy wares.

Tarshish commerciava con te per l'abbondanza delle tue ricchezze, in cambio delle tue mercanzie ti davano argento, ferro, stagno e piombo.

13 J avan, Tubal, and Meshech, they were thy traffickers; they traded the persons of men and vessels of brass for thy merchandise.

Anche Javan, Tubal e Mescek commerciavano con te; in cambio delle tue merci davano esseri umani e utensili di bronzo.

14 T hey of the house of Togarmah traded for thy wares with horses and war-horses and mules.

Quelli della casa di Togarmah davano in cambio delle tue merci cavalli da tiro, cavalli da corsa e muli.

15 T he men of Dedan were thy traffickers; many isles were the mart of thy hand: they brought thee in exchange horns of ivory and ebony.

I figli di Dedan trafficavano con te; il commercio di molte isole passava per le tue mani; come compenso ti davano zanne d'avorio e ebano.

16 S yria was thy merchant by reason of the multitude of thy handiworks: they traded for thy wares with emeralds, purple, and broidered work, and fine linen, and coral, and rubies.

La Siria commerciava con te per la moltitudine dei tuoi prodotti; in cambio delle tue mercanzie ti davano pietre preziose porpora, stoffe ricamate, bisso, corallo e rubini.

17 J udah, and the land of Israel, they were thy traffickers: they traded for thy merchandise wheat of Minnith, and pannag, and honey, and oil, and balm.

Giuda e il paese d'Israele commerciavano con te; in cambio delle tue merci ti davano grano di Minnith, paste, miele, olio e balsamo.

18 D amascus was thy merchant for the multitude of thy handiworks, by reason of the multitude of all kinds of riches, with the wine of Helbon, and white wool.

Damasco commerciava con te per il gran numero dei tuoi prodotti e per l'abbondanza delle tue ricchezze con vino di Helbon e con lana candida.

19 V edan and Javan traded with yarn for thy wares: bright iron, cassia, and calamus, were among thy merchandise.

Vedan e Javan portavano da Uzah prodotti in cambio delle tue mercanzie; ferro lavorato, cassia e canna aromatica erano tra le tue merci di scambio

20 D edan was thy trafficker in precious cloths for riding.

Dedan commerciava con te in vestimenti per cavalcare.

21 A rabia, and all the princes of Kedar, they were the merchants of thy hand; in lambs, and rams, and goats, in these were they thy merchants.

L'Arabia e tutti i principi di Kedar commerciavano con te, facendo con te scambi in agnelli, montoni e capri.

22 T he traffickers of Sheba and Raamah, they were thy traffickers; they traded for thy wares with the chief of all spices, and with all precious stones, and gold.

I mercanti di Sceba e di Raamah commerciavano con te; in cambio delle tue mercanzie essi davano tutti i migliori aromi, ogni genere di pietre preziose e d'oro.

23 H aran and Canneh and Eden, the traffickers of Sheba, Asshur and Chilmad, were thy traffickers.

Haran, Kanneh, Eden, i mercanti di Sceba, di Assiria e di Kilmad commerciavano con te.

24 T hese were thy traffickers in choice wares, in wrappings of blue and broidered work, and in chests of rich apparel, bound with cords and made of cedar, among thy merchandise.

In cambio delle tue merci negoziavano con te oggetti di lusso, mantelli di porpora, stoffe ricamate, casse di vesti variegate, legate con corde.

25 T he ships of Tarshish were thy caravans for thy merchandise: and thou wast replenished, and made very glorious in the heart of the seas.

Le navi di Tarshish trasportavano le tue merci. Cosí ti sei riempita e grandemente arricchita nel cuore dei mari.

26 T hy rowers have brought thee into great waters: the east wind hath broken thee in the heart of the seas.

I tuoi rematori ti hanno portato su molte acque, ma il vento dell'est ti ha distrutta nel cuore dei mari.

27 T hy riches, and thy wares, thy merchandise, thy mariners, and thy pilots, thy calkers, and the dealers in thy merchandise, and all thy men of war, that are in thee, with all thy company which is in the midst of thee, shall fall into the heart of the seas in the day of thy ruin.

Le tue ricchezze, le tue mercanzie, le tue merci, i tuoi marinai, i tuoi piloti, quelli che riparavano le tue falle, i trafficanti delle tue merci, tutti gli uomini di guerra che sono in te e tutta la moltitudine che è in mezzo a te cadranno nel cuore dei mari nel giorno della tua rovina.

28 A t the sound of the cry of thy pilots the suburbs shall shake.

Al clamore del grido dei tuoi piloti le campagne aperte tremeranno;

29 A nd all that handled the oar, the mariners, and all the pilots of the sea, shall come down from their ships; they shall stand upon the land,

tutti quelli che maneggiano il remo, i marinai e tutti i piloti del mare scenderanno dalle loro navi e rimarranno a terra.

30 a nd shall cause their voice to be heard over thee, and shall cry bitterly, and shall cast up dust upon their heads, they shall wallow themselves in the ashes:

Faranno sentire la loro voce su di te grideranno amaramente, si getteranno polvere sul capo, si rotoleranno nella cenere.

31 a nd they shall make themselves bald for thee, and gird them with sackcloth, and they shall weep for thee in bitterness of soul with bitter mourning.

A causa di te si raderanno il capo, si vestiranno di sacco e piangeranno per te con amarezza d'animo, con cordoglio amaro.

32 A nd in their wailing they shall take up a lamentation for thee, and lament over thee, saying, Who is there like Tyre, like her that is brought to silence in the midst of the sea?

Nella loro angoscia innalzeranno per te una lamentazione e si lamenteranno su di te: Chi è come Tiro, devastata in mezzo al mare?"

33 W hen thy wares went forth out of the seas, thou filledst many peoples; thou didst enrich the kings of the earth with the multitude of thy riches and of thy merchandise.

Quando le tue mercanzie uscivano dai mari saziavi molti popoli; con l'abbondanza delle ricchezze e delle tue merci arricchivi i re della terra.

34 I n the time that thou wast broken by the seas in the depths of the waters, thy merchandise and all thy company did fall in the midst of thee.

Ma quando sei stata infranta dai mari nelle profondità delle acque le tue merci e tutta la moltitudine in mezzo a te sono cadute.

35 A ll the inhabitants of the isles are astonished at thee, and their kings are horribly afraid; they are troubled in their countenance.

Tutti gli abitanti delle isole sono sbigottiti di te; i loro re sono presi da grande spavento, il loro aspetto è sconvolto.

36 T he merchants among the peoples hiss at thee; thou art become a terror, and thou shalt nevermore have any being.

I mercanti fra i popoli fischiano su di te; sei diventata uno spavento e non esisterai mai piú».
