1 T he king shall joy in thy strength, O Jehovah; And in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!

Tu gli hai concesso il desiderio del suo cuore e non gli hai rifiutato la richiesta delle sue labbra. (Sela)

3 F or thou meetest him with the blessings of goodness: Thou settest a crown of fine gold on his head.

Poiché tu gli sei venuto incontro con benedizioni di prosperità, gli hai posto sul capo una corona d'oro finissimo.

4 H e asked life of thee, thou gavest it him, Even length of days for ever and ever.

Egli ti aveva chiesto vita e tu gli hai dato lunghi giorni in eterno.

5 H is glory is great in thy salvation: Honor and majesty dost thou lay upon him.

Grande è la sua gloria per la tua salvezza; tu gli hai conferito maestà e gloria,

6 F or thou makest him most blessed for ever: Thou makest him glad with joy in thy presence.

perché lo rendi grandemente benedetto per sempre, ricolmi di gioia alla tua presenza.

7 F or the king trusteth in Jehovah; And through the lovingkindness of the Most High he shall not be moved.

Poiché il re confida nell'Eterno e nella benignità dell'Altissimo, non sarà mai smosso.

8 T hy hand will find out all thine enemies; Thy right hand will find out those that hate thee.

La tua mano raggiungerà tutti i tuoi nemici la tua destra raggiungerà quelli che ti odiano.

9 T hou wilt make them as a fiery furnace in the time of thine anger: Jehovah will swallow them up in his wrath, And the fire shall devour them.

Tu li renderai come un forno ardente, quando apparirai adirato, nella sua ira l'Eterno li inabisserà, e il fuoco li divorerà.

10 T heir fruit wilt thou destroy from the earth, And their seed from among the children of men.

Tu farai perire il loro frutto dalla terra e la loro progenie tra i figli degli uomini,

11 F or they intended evil against thee; They conceived a device which they are not able to perform.

perché hanno ordito del male contro di te e hanno ideato piani malvagi, ma non riusciranno.

12 F or thou wilt make them turn their back; Thou wilt make ready with thy bowstrings against their face.

Poiché tu farai voltar loro le spalle e punterai le frecce del tuo arco contro la loro faccia.

13 B e thou exalted, O Jehovah, in thy strength: So will we sing and praise thy power.

Innalzati, o Eterno, con la tua forza; noi canteremo e celebreremo le lodi della tua potenza.
