1 M oreover the Lord answered Job, and said,

Господь сказал Иову:

2 S hall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct him? he that reproveth God, let him answer it.

– Тебе ли, спорщик, наставлять Всемогущего? Пусть обвиняющий Бога Ему ответит!

3 T hen Job answered the Lord, and said,

Тогда Иов ответил Господу:

4 B ehold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay mine hand upon my mouth.

– Я столь ничтожен – как я Тебе отвечу? Руку свою кладу на уста.

5 O nce have I spoken; but I will not answer: yea, twice; but I will proceed no further.

Я говорил однажды – больше не буду продолжать, говорил дважды – но теперь умолкну.

6 T hen answered the Lord unto Job out of the whirlwind, and said,

И Господь сказал Иову из бури:

7 G ird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.

– Препояшь себя, как мужчина; Я буду спрашивать, а ты отвечай.

8 W ilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous?

Опровергнешь ли ты Мой суд? Обвинишь ли Меня, чтобы себя оправдать?

9 H ast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him?

Есть ли у тебя мощь, как у Бога, и гремит ли голос твой, как у Него?

10 D eck thyself now with majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty.

Что ж, укрась себя славой и величием, оденься в честь и великолепие.

11 C ast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold every one that is proud, and abase him.

Дай волю ярости своего гнева, посмотри на гордого и смири его,

12 L ook on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place.

посмотри на надменного и унизь его, придави злодеев к земле.

13 H ide them in the dust together; and bind their faces in secret.

Зарой их всех вместе в землю и окутай их лица тьмой.

14 T hen will I also confess unto thee that thine own right hand can save thee.

Тогда и Сам Я тебе скажу, что твоя правая рука тебя спасла.

15 B ehold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.

Присмотрись к чудовищу, Я создал его, как и тебя; он ест траву, как вол.

16 L o now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.

Что за сила в бедрах его, что за крепость в мускулах живота!

17 H e moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.

Машет он своим хвостом, как кедром; жилы бедер его сплетены.

18 H is bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron.

Ноги его, как медные трубы, кости его, как железные прутья.

19 H e is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him.

Он величайшее среди Божьих дел; лишь его Творец может меч к нему поднести.

20 S urely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.

Горы пищу ему дают, где резвятся все дикие звери.

21 H e lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens.

В зарослях лотоса он лежит, скрыт среди тростников болотных.

22 T he shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about.

Лотосы прячут его в тени, ивы у ручья его окружают.

23 B ehold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.

Бушует река – не страшно ему; невозмутим он, хоть хлынь ему в пасть Иордан.

24 H e taketh it with his eyes: his nose pierceth through snares.

Кто схватит его у него же на глазах? Кто багор в его нос проденет?
