1 W hat shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

Что же теперь? Продолжать грешить, чтобы умножалась благодать?

2 G od forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Ни в коем случае! Мы умерли для греха, как же мы можем продолжать жить в нем?

3 K now ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

Неужели вы не знаете, что все мы, крестившиеся в Иисуса Христа, были крещены в Его смерть?

4 T herefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Мы при крещении были погребены с Ним в смерть, чтобы жить новой жизнью, как и Христос был воскрешен из мертвых славой Отца.

5 F or if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

Если мы соединились с Ним подобием Его смерти, то будем соединены и подобием Его воскресения.

6 K nowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

Мы знаем, что наша прежняя греховная природа была распята с Ним для того, чтобы освободить нашу жизнь из-под власти греха, и чтобы мы не были более рабами греху,

7 F or he that is dead is freed from sin.

ведь умерший освобожден от греха.

8 N ow if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:

Если мы умерли с Христом, то верим, что и жить будем с Ним.

9 K nowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.

Мы знаем, что Христос воскрес из мертвых и больше не умрет: смерть уже не имеет власти над Ним.

10 F or in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.

Когда Он умер, то умер для греха раз и навсегда, но живя, Он живет для Бога.

11 L ikewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Так же и вы смотрите на себя, как на мертвых для греха, но живых для Бога в Иисусе Христе.

12 L et not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

Поэтому не позволяйте греху царствовать в вашем смертном теле и не идите на поводу у его похотей.

13 N either yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

Не отдавайте членов вашего тела греху, в орудия неправедности. Лучше отдайте себя Богу, как оживших из мертвых, и члены вашего тела отдайте Ему в орудия праведности.

14 F or sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

Грех не должен господствовать над вами, потому что вы не под Законом, а под благодатью. Свободны от рабства греха

15 W hat then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

Что же, будем грешить, потому что мы не под Законом, а под благодатью? Ни в коем случае!

16 K now ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

Вы ведь знаете, что если вы отдаете себя кому-то в рабство, то делаетесь его покорными рабами: рабами греха, что ведет к смерти, или рабами послушания, что ведет к праведности.

17 B ut God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.

Но благодарение Богу, что вы, хотя и были рабами греха, решили всем сердцем следовать учению, которое вы получили.

18 B eing then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

Вы освободились от греха и стали рабами праведности.

19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.

Я говорю об этом простым языком, принимая в расчет ваше возможное недопонимание. Как вы раньше отдавали члены вашего тела в рабство нечистоте, чтобы творить беззаконие, так отдайте их теперь в рабство праведности, которая ведет к святости.

20 F or when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.

Когда вы были рабами греха, вы были свободны от праведности.

21 W hat fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.

Какую же пользу вы получали тогда, совершая поступки, которых теперь стыдитесь? Их конец – смерть!

22 B ut now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

Сейчас же вы освобождены от греха и стали рабами Бога, и плодом этого будет святость, а концом – вечная жизнь.

23 F or the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Ведь возмездие за грех – смерть, а дар Божий – вечная жизнь в единении с Иисусом Христом, нашим Господом.
