1 N ow it came to pass on the third day, that Esther put on her royal apparel, and stood in the inner court of the king's house, over against the king's house: and the king sat upon his royal throne in the royal house, over against the gate of the house.

И вот, на третий день Есфирь надела свои царские одежды и встала во внутреннем дворе дворца, напротив царского тронного зала. Царь сидел на своем троне в зале, лицом ко входу. Когда он увидел стоявшую во дворе царицу Есфирь, он смилостивился над ней

2 A nd it was so, when the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, that she obtained favour in his sight: and the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre that was in his hand. So Esther drew near, and touched the top of the sceptre.

и протянул к ней золотой скипетр, который был у него в руке. Есфирь подошла и коснулась конца скипетра.

3 T hen said the king unto her, What wilt thou, queen Esther? and what is thy request? it shall be even given thee to the half of the kingdom.

Царь спросил ее: – Что тебе, царица Есфирь? О чем ты просишь? Все тебе будет, даже полцарства.

4 A nd Esther answered, If it seem good unto the king, let the king and Haman come this day unto the banquet that I have prepared for him.

– Если царю угодно, – ответила Есфирь, – то пусть царь вместе с Аманом придут сегодня на пир, который я для него устроила.

5 T hen the king said, Cause Haman to make haste, that he may do as Esther hath said. So the king and Haman came to the banquet that Esther had prepared.

– Немедленно сходите за Аманом, – сказал царь, – чтобы нам исполнить просьбу Есфири. Так царь с Аманом пошли на пир, который устроила Есфирь.

6 A nd the king said unto Esther at the banquet of wine, What is thy petition? and it shall be granted thee: and what is thy request? even to the half of the kingdom it shall be performed.

Когда они пили вино, царь спросил у Есфири: – Чего же ты хочешь? Все тебе будет. Какова твоя просьба? Даже полцарства – все получишь!

7 T hen answered Esther, and said, My petition and my request is;

Есфирь ответила: – Мое желание и моя просьба таковы:

8 I f I have found favour in the sight of the king, and if it please the king to grant my petition, and to perform my request, let the king and Haman come to the banquet that I shall prepare for them, and I will do to morrow as the king hath said.

если я нашла у царя расположение, и если царю угодно даровать мне то, чего я хочу, и исполнить мою просьбу, то пусть царь с Аманом придут и завтра на пир, который я для них устрою. Тогда я и отвечу на царский вопрос. План Амана погубить Мардохея

9 T hen went Haman forth that day joyful and with a glad heart: but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king's gate, that he stood not up, nor moved for him, he was full of indignation against Mordecai.

Аман вышел в тот день веселый и в прекрасном настроении. Но, увидев у царских ворот Мардохея и заметив, что тот не встал и не выказал перед ним страха, он разозлился на него.

10 N evertheless Haman refrained himself: and when he came home, he sent and called for his friends, and Zeresh his wife.

Однако, Аман сдержался и пошел домой. Собрав вместе своих друзей и свою жену Зерешь,

11 A nd Haman told them of the glory of his riches, and the multitude of his children, and all the things wherein the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king.

Аман хвастался им своим огромным богатством, множеством сыновей и всеми почестями, которыми удостоил его царь, и тем, как он возвысил его над всеми сановниками и чиновниками.

12 H aman said moreover, Yea, Esther the queen did let no man come in with the king unto the banquet that she had prepared but myself; and to morrow am I invited unto her also with the king.

– Но это еще не все, – добавил Аман. – Я − единственный, кого царица Есфирь пригласила вместе с царем на пир, который она устроила. Она пригласила меня вместе с царем и на завтра.

13 Y et all this availeth me nothing, so long as I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king's gate.

Но меня это не радует, пока я вижу иудея Мардохея, сидящего у царских ворот.

14 T hen said Zeresh his wife and all his friends unto him, Let a gallows be made of fifty cubits high, and to morrow speak thou unto the king that Mordecai may be hanged thereon: then go thou in merrily with the king unto the banquet. And the thing pleased Haman; and he caused the gallows to be made.

Его жена Зерешь и все друзья сказали ему: – Вели построить виселицу пятидесяти локтей высотой и утром попроси царя, чтобы Мардохея на ней повесили. А потом спокойно иди с царем на пир. Этот совет понравился Аману, и он велел построить виселицу.
