1 M oreover the Lord answered Job, and said,

Disse ainda o Senhor a Jó:

2 S hall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct him? he that reproveth God, let him answer it.

“Aquele que contende com o Todo-poderoso poderá repreendê-lo? Que responda a Deus aquele que o acusa!”

3 T hen Job answered the Lord, and said,

Então Jó respondeu ao Senhor:

4 B ehold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay mine hand upon my mouth.

“Sou indigno; como posso responder-te? Ponho a mão sobre a minha boca.

5 O nce have I spoken; but I will not answer: yea, twice; but I will proceed no further.

Falei uma vez, mas não tenho resposta; sim, duas vezes, mas não direi mais nada”.

6 T hen answered the Lord unto Job out of the whirlwind, and said,

Depois, o Senhor falou a Jó do meio da tempestade:

7 G ird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.

“Prepare-se como simples homem que é; eu lhe farei perguntas, e você me responderá.

8 W ilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous?

“Você vai pôr em dúvida a minha justiça? Vai condenar-me para justificar-se?

9 H ast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him?

Seu braço é como o de Deus, e sua voz pode trovejar como a dele?

10 D eck thyself now with majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty.

Adorne-se, então, de esplendor e glória, e vista-se de majestade e honra.

11 C ast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold every one that is proud, and abase him.

Derrame a fúria da sua ira, olhe para todo orgulhoso e lance-o por terra,

12 L ook on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place.

13 H ide them in the dust together; and bind their faces in secret.

Enterre-os todos juntos no pó; encubra os rostos deles no túmulo.

14 T hen will I also confess unto thee that thine own right hand can save thee.

Então admitirei que a sua mão direita pode salvar você.

15 B ehold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.

“Veja o Beemote que criei quando criei você e que come capim como o boi.

16 L o now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.

Que força ele tem em seus lombos! Que poder nos músculos do seu ventre!

17 H e moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.

Sua cauda balança como o cedro; os nervos de suas coxas são firmemente entrelaçados.

18 H is bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron.

Seus ossos são canos de bronze, seus membros são varas de ferro.

19 H e is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him.

Ele ocupa o primeiro lugar entre as obras de Deus. No entanto, o seu Criador pode chegar a ele com sua espada.

20 S urely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.

Os montes lhe oferecem tudo o que produzem, e todos os animais selvagens brincam por perto.

21 H e lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens.

Sob os lotos se deita, oculto entre os juncos do brejo.

22 T he shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about.

Os lotos o escondem à sua sombra; os salgueiros junto ao regato o cercam.

23 B ehold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.

Quando o rio se enfurece, ele não se abala; mesmo que o Jordão encrespe as ondas contra a sua boca, ele se mantém calmo.

24 H e taketh it with his eyes: his nose pierceth through snares.

Poderá alguém capturá-lo pelos olhos, ou prendê-lo em armadilha e enganchá-lo pelo nariz?
