1 C ome, and let us return unto the Lord: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.

“Venham, voltemos para o Senhor. Ele nos despedaçou, mas nos trará cura; ele nos feriu, mas sarará nossas feridas.

2 A fter two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.

Depois de dois dias ele nos dará vida novamente; ao terceiro dia nos restaurará, para que vivamos em sua presença.

3 T hen shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.

Conheçamos o Senhor; esforcemo-nos por conhecê-lo. Tão certo como nasce o sol, ele aparecerá; virá para nós como as chuvas de inverno, como as chuvas de primavera que regam a terra.”

4 O Ephraim, what shall I do unto thee? O Judah, what shall I do unto thee? for your goodness is as a morning cloud, and as the early dew it goeth away.

“Que posso fazer com você, Efraim? Que posso fazer com você, Judá? Seu amor é como a neblina da manhã, como o primeiro orvalho que logo evapora.

5 T herefore have I hewed them by the prophets; I have slain them by the words of my mouth: and thy judgments are as the light that goeth forth.

Por isso eu os despedacei por meio dos meus profetas, eu os matei com as palavras da minha boca; os meus juízos reluziram como relâmpagos sobre vocês.

6 F or I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

Pois desejo misericórdia, e não sacrifícios; conhecimento de Deus em vez de holocaustos.

7 B ut they like men have transgressed the covenant: there have they dealt treacherously against me.

Na cidade de Adão, eles quebraram a aliança, e me foram infiéis.

8 G ilead is a city of them that work iniquity, and is polluted with blood.

9 A nd as troops of robbers wait for a man, so the company of priests murder in the way by consent: for they commit lewdness.

10 I have seen an horrible thing in the house of Israel: there is the whoredom of Ephraim, Israel is defiled.

Vi uma coisa terrível na terra de Israel. Ali Efraim se prostitui, e Israel está contaminado.

11 A lso, O Judah, he hath set an harvest for thee, when I returned the captivity of my people.
