2 T o speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.

não caluniem ninguém, sejam pacíficos, amáveis e mostrem sempre verdadeira mansidão para com todos os homens.

3 F or we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

Houve tempo em que nós também éramos insensatos e desobedientes, vivíamos enganados e escravizados por toda espécie de paixões e prazeres. Vivíamos na maldade e na inveja, sendo detestáveis e odiando uns aos outros.

4 B ut after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,

Mas quando, da parte de Deus, nosso Salvador, se manifestaram a bondade e o amor pelos homens,

5 N ot by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

não por causa de atos de justiça por nós praticados, mas devido à sua misericórdia, ele nos salvou pelo lavar regenerador e renovador do Espírito Santo,

6 W hich he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;

que ele derramou sobre nós generosamente, por meio de Jesus Cristo, nosso Salvador.

7 T hat being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Ele o fez a fim de que, justificados por sua graça, nos tornemos seus herdeiros, tendo a esperança da vida eterna.

8 T his is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.

Fiel é esta palavra, e quero que você afirme categoricamente essas coisas, para que os que crêem em Deus se empenhem na prática de boas obras. Tais coisas são excelentes e úteis aos homens.

9 B ut avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.

Evite, porém, controvérsias tolas, genealogias, discussões e contendas a respeito da Lei, porque essas coisas são inúteis e sem valor.

10 A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject;

Quanto àquele que provoca divisões, advirta-o uma primeira e uma segunda vez. Depois disso, rejeite-o.

11 K nowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.

Você sabe que tal pessoa se perverteu e está em pecado; por si mesma está condenada. Observações Finais

12 W hen I shall send Artemas unto thee, or Tychicus, be diligent to come unto me to Nicopolis: for I have determined there to winter.

13 B ring Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their journey diligently, that nothing be wanting unto them.

Providencie tudo o que for necessário para a viagem de Zenas, o jurista, e de Apolo, de modo que nada lhes falte.

14 A nd let our's also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful.

Quanto aos nossos, que aprendam a dedicar-se à prática de boas obras, a fim de que supram as necessidades diárias e não sejam improdutivos.

15 A ll that are with me salute thee. Greet them that love us in the faith. Grace be with you all. Amen.
