1 O give thanks unto the Lord; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people.

Dêem graças ao Senhor, proclamem o seu nome; divulguem os seus feitos entre as nações.

2 S ing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works.

Cantem para ele e louvem-no; relatem todas as suas maravilhas.

3 G lory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord.

Gloriem-se no seu santo nome; alegre-se o coração dos que buscam o Senhor.

4 S eek the Lord, and his strength: seek his face evermore.

Recorram ao Senhor e ao seu poder; busquem sempre a sua presença.

5 R emember his marvellous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;

Lembrem-se das maravilhas que ele fez, dos seus prodígios e das sentenças de juízo que pronunciou,

6 O ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye children of Jacob his chosen.

ó descendentes de Abraão, seu servo, ó filhos de Jacó, seus escolhidos.

7 H e is the Lord our God: his judgments are in all the earth.

Ele é o Senhor, o nosso Deus; seus decretos são para toda a terra.

8 H e hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations.

Ele se lembra para sempre da sua aliança, por mil gerações, da palavra que ordenou,

9 W hich covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac;

da aliança que fez com Abraão, do juramento que fez a Isaque.

10 A nd confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant:

Ele o confirmou como decreto a Jacó, a Israel como aliança eterna, quando disse:

11 S aying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance:

“Darei a você a terra de Canaã, a herança que lhe pertence”.

12 W hen they were but a few men in number; yea, very few, and strangers in it.

Quando ainda eram poucos, um punhado de peregrinos na terra,

13 W hen they went from one nation to another, from one kingdom to another people;

e vagueavam de nação em nação, de um reino a outro,

14 H e suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes;

ele não permitiu que ninguém os oprimisse, mas a favor deles repreendeu reis, dizendo:

15 S aying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.

“Não toquem nos meus ungidos; não maltratem os meus profetas”.

16 M oreover he called for a famine upon the land: he brake the whole staff of bread.

Ele mandou vir fome sobre a terra e destruiu todo o seu sustento;

17 H e sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant:

mas enviou um homem adiante deles, José, que foi vendido como escravo.

18 W hose feet they hurt with fetters: he was laid in iron:

Machucaram-lhe os pés com correntes e com ferros prenderam-lhe o pescoço,

19 U ntil the time that his word came: the word of the Lord tried him.

até cumprir-se a sua predição e a palavra do Senhor confirmar o que dissera.

20 T he king sent and loosed him; even the ruler of the people, and let him go free.

O rei mandou soltá-lo, o governante dos povos o libertou.

21 H e made him lord of his house, and ruler of all his substance:

Ele o constituiu senhor de seu palácio e administrador de todos os seus bens,

22 T o bind his princes at his pleasure; and teach his senators wisdom.

para instruir os seus oficiais como desejasse e ensinar a sabedoria às autoridades do rei.

23 I srael also came into Egypt; and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.

Então Israel foi para o Egito, Jacó viveu como estrangeiro na terra de Cam.

24 A nd he increased his people greatly; and made them stronger than their enemies.

Deus fez proliferar o seu povo, tornou-o mais poderoso do que os seus adversários,

25 H e turned their heart to hate his people, to deal subtilly with his servants.

e mudou o coração deles para que odiassem o seu povo, para que tramassem contra os seus servos.

26 H e sent Moses his servant; and Aaron whom he had chosen.

Então enviou seu servo Moisés, e Arão, a quem tinha escolhido,

27 T hey shewed his signs among them, and wonders in the land of Ham.

por meio dos quais realizou os seus sinais miraculosos e as suas maravilhas na terra de Cam.

28 H e sent darkness, and made it dark; and they rebelled not against his word.

Ele enviou trevas, e houve trevas, e eles não se rebelaram contra as suas palavras.

29 H e turned their waters into blood, and slew their fish.

Ele transformou as águas deles em sangue, causando a morte dos seus peixes.

30 T heir land brought forth frogs in abundance, in the chambers of their kings.

A terra deles ficou infestada de rãs, até mesmo os aposentos reais.

31 H e spake, and there came divers sorts of flies, and lice in all their coasts.

Ele ordenou, e enxames de moscas e piolhos invadiram o território deles.

32 H e gave them hail for rain, and flaming fire in their land.

Deu-lhes granizo, em vez de chuva, e raios flamejantes por toda a sua terra;

33 H e smote their vines also and their fig trees; and brake the trees of their coasts.

arrasou as suas videiras e figueiras e destruiu as árvores do seu território.

34 H e spake, and the locusts came, and caterpillers, and that without number,

Ordenou, e vieram enxames de gafanhotos, gafanhotos inumeráveis,

35 A nd did eat up all the herbs in their land, and devoured the fruit of their ground.

e devoraram toda a vegetação daquela terra, e consumiram tudo o que a lavoura produziu.

36 H e smote also all the firstborn in their land, the chief of all their strength.

Depois matou todos os primogênitos da terra deles, todas as primícias da sua virilidade.

37 H e brought them forth also with silver and gold: and there was not one feeble person among their tribes.

Ele tirou de lá Israel, que saiu cheio de prata e ouro. Não havia em suas tribos quem fraquejasse.

38 E gypt was glad when they departed: for the fear of them fell upon them.

Os egípcios alegraram-se quando eles saíram, pois estavam com verdadeiro pavor dos israelitas.

39 H e spread a cloud for a covering; and fire to give light in the night.

Ele estendeu uma nuvem para lhes dar sombra, e fogo para iluminar a noite.

40 T he people asked, and he brought quails, and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.

Pediram, e ele enviou codornizes, e saciou-os com pão do céu.

41 H e opened the rock, and the waters gushed out; they ran in the dry places like a river.

Ele fendeu a rocha, e jorrou água, que escorreu como um rio pelo deserto.

42 F or he remembered his holy promise, and Abraham his servant.

Pois ele se lembrou da santa promessa que fizera ao seu servo Abraão.

43 A nd he brought forth his people with joy, and his chosen with gladness:

Fez o seu povo sair cheio de júbilo, e os seus escolhidos, com cânticos alegres.

44 A nd gave them the lands of the heathen: and they inherited the labour of the people;

Deu-lhes as terras das nações, e eles tomaram posse do fruto do trabalho de outros povos,

45 T hat they might observe his statutes, and keep his laws. Praise ye the Lord.

para que obedecessem aos seus decretos e guardassem as suas leis. Aleluia!
