1 С лед това Самуил каза на Саул: Господ ме изпрати да те помажа за цар над народа Му, над Израел; а сега послушай Господните думи.

And Samuel said unto Saul, Jehovah sent me to anoint thee to be king over his people, over Israel: now therefore hearken thou unto the voice of the words of Jehovah.

2 Т ака казва Господ на Силите: Забелязал съм онова, което стори Амалик на Израел - как му се възпротиви по пътя, когато идваше от Египет.

Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, I have marked that which Amalek did to Israel, how he set himself against him in the way, when he came up out of Egypt.

3 И ди сега и порази Амалик, обречи на изтребление всичко, което има. Не го жали, а избий мъж и жена, дете и кърмаче, говедо и овца, камила и осел.

Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.

4 И така, Саул повика народа и ги преброи в Телаам - бяха двеста хиляди души пешаци израелтяни и десет хиляди Юдови мъже.

And Saul summoned the people, and numbered them in Telaim, two hundred thousand footmen, and ten thousand men of Judah.

5 И Саул стигна до един амаликов град и постави засада в долината.

And Saul came to the city of Amalek, and laid wait in the valley.

6 А Саул каза на кенейците: Идете, оттеглете се, излезте измежду амаличаните, за да не ви изтребя заедно с тях; защото вие постъпихте с благост към всички израелтяни, когато идваха от Египет. И така, кенейците се оттеглиха отсред амаличаните.

And Saul said unto the Kenites, Go, depart, get you down from among the Amalekites, lest I destroy you with them; for ye showed kindness to all the children of Israel, when they came up out of Egypt. So the Kenites departed from among the Amalekites.

7 И Саул порази амаличаните от Евила до прохода на Сур, срещу Египет.

And Saul smote the Amalekites, from Havilah as thou goest to Shur, that is before Egypt.

8 Т ой залови жив амаликския цар Агаг, а изтреби целия народ с острието на меча.

And he took Agag the king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword.

9 О баче Саул и народът пощадиха Агаг и по-добрите от овцете и говедата и от угоените животни и агнетата. Всичко, което беше добро, не искаха да го обрекат на изтребление; а всичко, което беше изхабено и нямаше стойност, него изтребиха.

But Saul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs, and all that was good, and would not utterly destroy them: but everything that was vile and refuse, that they destroyed utterly.

10 Т огава Господнето слово дойде към Самуил и каза:

Then came the word of Jehovah unto Samuel, saying,

11 Р азкаях се, че поставих Саул за цар, понеже той престана да Ме следва и не изпълнява повеленията Ми. А това възмути Самуил и той викаше към Господа цялата нощ.

It repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king; for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments. And Samuel was wroth; and he cried unto Jehovah all night.

12 Н а сутринта Самуил стана рано, за да посрещне Саул. Тогава известиха на Самуил следното: Саул дойде в Кармил и след като си издигна паметник, обърна се и замина, и слезе в Галгал.

And Samuel rose early to meet Saul in the morning; and it was told Samuel, saying, Saul came to Carmel, and, behold, he set him up a monument, and turned, and passed on, and went down to Gilgal.

13 И когато Самуил дойде при Саул, Саул му каза: Благословен да си от Господа! Изпълних Господнята заповед.

And Samuel came to Saul; and Saul said unto him, Blessed be thou of Jehovah: I have performed the commandment of Jehovah.

14 Н о Самуил попита: Как да разбирам тогава това блеене на овце, което чувам, и този рев на говеда, който слушам?

And Samuel said, What meaneth then this bleating of the sheep in mine ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?

15 А Саул отговори: От амаличаните ги докараха. Народът пощади по-добрите от овцете и говедата, за да пожертва на Господа, твоя Бог; а останалото обрекохме на изтребление.

And Saul said, They have brought them from the Amalekites: for the people spared the best of the sheep and of the oxen, to sacrifice unto Jehovah thy God; and the rest we have utterly destroyed.

16 Т огава Самуил каза на Саул: Почакай и ще ти известя какво ми говори Господ през нощта. А Саул отговори: Казвай.

Then Samuel said unto Saul, Stay, and I will tell thee what Jehovah hath said to me this night. And he said unto him, Say on.

17 С амуил каза: Когато ти беше малък в собствените си очи, не стана ли глава на Израелевите племена? Господ те помаза за цар над Израел

And Samuel said, Though thou wast little in thine own sight, wast thou not made the head of the tribes of Israel? And Jehovah anointed thee king over Israel;

18 и Господ те изпрати на път и ти каза: Иди и изтреби грешните амаличани и воювай против тях, докато бъдат довършени.

and Jehovah sent thee on a journey, and said, Go, and utterly destroy the sinners the Amalekites, and fight against them until they be consumed.

19 И така, ти защо не послуша Господния глас, а се нахвърли върху плячката и извърши това зло пред Господа?

Wherefore then didst thou not obey the voice of Jehovah, but didst fly upon the spoil, and didst that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah?

20 А Саул отговори на Самуил: Да! Послушах Господния глас и отидох в пътя, по който Господ ме изпрати, и доведох амаликския цар Агаг, а амаличаните обрекох на изтребление.

And Saul said unto Samuel, Yea, I have obeyed the voice of Jehovah, and have gone the way which Jehovah sent me, and have brought Agag the king of Amalek, and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites.

21 Н о народът взе от плячката: овце и говеда, по-добрите от обречените неща, за да пожертват на Господа, твоя Бог, в Галгал.

But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the devoted things, to sacrifice unto Jehovah thy God in Gilgal.

22 И Самуил каза: Всеизгарянията и жертвите по същия начин ли са угодни на Господа, както послушанието на Господния глас? Ето, послушанието е по-приемливо от жертвата и покорността - от тлъстината на овни.

And Samuel said, Hath Jehovah as great delight in burnt-offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of Jehovah? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

23 З ащото непокорството е като греха на врачуването, а упорството - като нечестието и идолопоклонството. Понеже ти отхвърли словото на Господа, то и Той отхвърли тебе да не си цар.

For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as idolatry and teraphim. Because thou hast rejected the word of Jehovah, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

24 Т огава Саул каза на Самуил: Съгреших. Престъпих Господнето повеление и твоите думи, понеже се уплаших от народа и послушах техния глас.

And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned; for I have transgressed the commandment of Jehovah, and thy words, because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice.

25 А сега прости съгрешението ми и се върни с мене, за да се поклоня на Господа.

Now therefore, I pray thee, pardon my sin, and turn again with me, that I may worship Jehovah.

26 А Самуил отговори на Саул: Няма да се върна с тебе, защото ти отхвърли Господнето слово и Господ отхвърли тебе, за да не бъдеш цар над Израел.

And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not return with thee; for thou hast rejected the word of Jehovah, and Jehovah hath rejected thee from being king over Israel.

27 А когато Самуил се обърна да си върви, Саул хвана полата на мантията му и тя се раздра.

And as Samuel turned about to go away, Saul laid hold upon the skirt of his robe, and it rent.

28 Т огава Самуил му каза: Господ откъсна днес Израелевото царство от теб и го даде на един твой ближен, който е по-добър от теб.

And Samuel said unto him, Jehovah hath rent the kingdom of Israel from thee this day, and hath given it to a neighbor of thine, that is better than thou.

29 А и Силният Израелев няма да излъже, нито да се разкае, защото Той не е човек, за да се разкайва.

And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent; for he is not a man, that he should repent.

30 А Саул каза: Съгреших; но направи ми чест, моля, пред старейшините на народа ми и пред Израел - върни се с мене, за да се поклоня на Господа, твоя Бог.

Then he said, I have sinned: yet honor me now, I pray thee, before the elders of my people, and before Israel, and turn again with me, that I may worship Jehovah thy God.

31 И така, Самуил се върна и отиде след Саул. И Саул се поклони на Господа.

So Samuel turned again after Saul; and Saul worshipped Jehovah.

32 Т огава Самуил каза: Доведете ми тук амаликския цар Агаг. И Агаг дойде при него весело, защото си казваше: Непременно горчивината на смъртта ще е преминала.

Then said Samuel, Bring ye hither to me Agag the king of the Amalekites. And Agag came unto him cheerfully. And Agag said, Surely the bitterness of death is past.

33 А Самуил каза: Както мечът ти е лишавал жени от деца, така и твоята майка ще бъде лишена от деца между жените. И Самуил съсече Агаг пред Господа в Галгал.

And Samuel said, As thy sword hath made women childless, so shall thy mother be childless among women. And Samuel hewed Agag in pieces before Jehovah in Gilgal.

34 Т огава Самуил си отиде в Рама, а Саул се прибра у дома си в Гавая Саулова.

Then Samuel went to Ramah; and Saul went up to his house to Gibeah of Saul.

35 И Самуил не видя вече Саул до деня на смъртта си, обаче плачеше за него. И Господ се разкая затова, че беше поставил Саул за цар над Израел.

And Samuel came no more to see Saul until the day of his death; for Samuel mourned for Saul: and Jehovah repented that he had made Saul king over Israel.
