1 Й осия беше на възраст осем години, когато се възцари, и царува̀ в Йерусалим тридесет и една година.

Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign; and he reigned thirty and one years in Jerusalem.

2 Т ой вършѝ това, което беше право пред Господа, като ходи в пътищата на баща си Давид, без да се отклони надясно или наляво.

And he did that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah, and walked in the ways of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left.

3 В осмата година на царуването си, като беше още млад, почна да търси Бога на баща си Давид; а в дванадесетата година почна да чисти Юдея и Йерусалим от високите места, от ашерите, от ваяните и летите идоли.

For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet young, he began to seek after the God of David his father; and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the Asherim, and the graven images, and the molten images.

4 В негово присъствие събориха жертвениците на ваалимите; той изсече кумирите на слънцето, които бяха върху тях, и сломи ашерите и ваяните и летите идоли, и като ги стри на прах, го разпръсна върху гробовете на онези, които бяха им жертвали.

And they brake down the altars of the Baalim in his presence; and the sun-images that were on high above them he hewed down; and the Asherim, and the graven images, and the molten images, he brake in pieces, and made dust of them, and strewed it upon the graves of them that had sacrificed unto them.

5 И згори и костите на жреците на жертвениците им и така очисти Юдея и Йерусалим.

And he burnt the bones of the priests upon their altars, and purged Judah and Jerusalem.

6 С ъщото направи и в градовете на Манасия, Ефрем и Симеон и чак до Нефталим сред околните им развалини;

And so did he in the cities of Manasseh and Ephraim and Simeon, even unto Naphtali, in their ruins round about.

7 с ъбори жертвениците, стри на прах ашерите и ваяните идоли и изсече всички кумири на слънцето по цялата Израелева земя. Тогава се върна в Йерусалим.

And he brake down the altars, and beat the Asherim and the graven images into powder, and hewed down all the sun-images throughout all the land of Israel, and returned to Jerusalem.

8 А в осемнадесетата година от царуването си, когато беше очистил земята и Божия дом, прати Сафан, Азалиевия син, и градския началник Маасия, и летописеца Йоах, син на Йоахаз, за да поправят дома на Господа, неговия Бог.

Now in the eighteenth year of his reign, when he had purged the land and the house, he sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, and Maaseiah the governor of the city, and Joah the son of Joahaz the recorder, to repair the house of Jehovah his God.

9 Т е отидоха при първосвещеника Хелкия и предадоха парите, внесени в Божия дом, които вратарите левити бяха събрали от Манасия и Ефрем и от всички останали от Израел, и от целия Юда и Вениамин, и от жителите на Йерусалим.

And they came to Hilkiah the high priest, and delivered the money that was brought into the house of God, which the Levites, the keepers of the threshold, had gathered of the hand of Manasseh and Ephraim, and of all the remnant of Israel, and of all Judah and Benjamin, and of the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

10 П редадоха ги в ръката на работниците, които надзираваха Господния дом; а те ги дадоха на работниците, които работеха в Господния дом, за да поправят и обновят дома -

And they delivered it into the hand of the workmen that had the oversight of the house of Jehovah; and the workmen that wrought in the house of Jehovah gave it to mend and repair the house;

11 д адоха ги на дърводелците и зидарите, за да купят дялани камъни и дървета за греди и да поправят зданията, които Юдейските царе бяха съборили.

even to the carpenters and to the builders gave they it, to buy hewn stone, and timber for couplings, and to make beams for the houses which the kings of Judah had destroyed.

12 И мъжете вършеха работата честно; а надзиратели над тях бяха левитите Яат и Авдий от Мерариевите потомци, Захария и Месулам от Каатовите потомци, за да наблюдават, а от другите левити - всички изкусни свирачи на музикалните инструменти.

And the men did the work faithfully: and the overseers of them were Jahath and Obadiah, the Levites, of the sons of Merari; and Zechariah and Meshullam, of the sons of the Kohathites, to set it forward; and others of the Levites, all that were skilful with instruments of music.

13 И маше още и настойници над носачите на товари и над всички, които работеха в каквато и да било работа; а някои от левитите бяха писари, надзиратели и вратари.

Also they were over the bearers of burdens, and set forward all that did the work in every manner of service: and of the Levites there were scribes, and officers, and porters.

14 А като изнасяха внесените в Господния дом пари, свещеник Хелкия намери книгата на Господния закон, даден чрез Моисей.

And when they brought out the money that was brought into the house of Jehovah, Hilkiah the priest found the book of the law of Jehovah given by Moses.

15 Т огава Хелкия каза на секретаря Сафан: Намерих книгата на закона в Господния дом. И Хелкия даде книгата на Сафан.

And Hilkiah answered and said to Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of Jehovah. And Hilkiah delivered the book to Shaphan.

16 А Сафан донесе книгата на царя, занесе и вест на царя, като каза: Слугите ти вършат всичко, което им е определено;

And Shaphan carried the book to the king, and moreover brought back word to the king, saying, All that was committed to thy servants, they are doing.

17 т е събраха намерените в Господния дом пари и ги предадоха в ръката на настоятелите и в ръката на работниците.

And they have emptied out the money that was found in the house of Jehovah, and have delivered it into the hand of the overseers, and into the hand of the workmen.

18 С ъщо секретарят Сафан извести на царя: Свещеник Хелкия ми даде една книга. И Сафан я прочете пред царя.

And Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest hath delivered me a book. And Shaphan read therein before the king.

19 А царят, като чу думите на закона, раздра дрехите си.

And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the law, that he rent his clothes.

20 Ц арят заповяда на Хелкия, на Ахикам, Сафановия син, на Авдон, Михеевия син, на секретаря Сафан и на царския слуга Асайя:

And the king commanded Hilkiah, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Abdon the son of Micah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah the king's servant, saying,

21 И дете, допитайте се до Господа за мен и за останалите в Израел и Юда относно думите на намерената книга; защото голям е Господният гняв, който се изля на нас, понеже бащите ни не опазиха Господнето слово да постъпват напълно, както е писано в тази книга.

Go ye, inquire of Jehovah for me, and for them that are left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the book that is found; for great is the wrath of Jehovah that is poured out upon us, because our fathers have not kept the word of Jehovah, to do according unto all that is written in this book.

22 И така, Хелкия и онези, които царят беше определил, отидоха при пророчицата Олда, жена на одеждопазителя Селум, син на Текуя, Арасовия син. А тя живееше в Йерусалим, във втората част; и те ѝ говориха според поръчаното.

So Hilkiah, and they whom the king had commanded, went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tokhath, the son of Hasrah, keeper of the wardrobe; (now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the second quarter;) and they spake to her to that effect.

23 А тя им отговори: Така казва Господ, Израелевият Бог: Кажете на човека, който ви е пратил до мене:

And she said unto them, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel: Tell ye the man that sent you unto me,

24 Т ака казва Господ: Ето, Аз ще докарам зло на това място и на жителите му - всички проклятия, написани в книгата, която прочетоха пред Юдейския цар.

Thus saith Jehovah, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, even all the curses that are written in the book which they have read before the king of Judah.

25 П онеже Ме изоставиха и кадяха на други богове, и Ме разгневиха с всичките дела на ръцете си, затова гневът Ми ще се излее на това място и няма да угасне.

Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore is my wrath poured out upon this place, and it shall not be quenched.

26 А на Юдейския цар, който ви прати да се допитате до Господа, така да му кажете: Така казва Господ, Израелевият Бог: Относно думите, които ти си чул,

But unto the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of Jehovah, thus shall ye say to him, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel: As touching the words which thou hast heard,

27 п онеже сърцето ти е омекнало и ти си се смирил пред Бога, когато си чул Неговите думи против това място и против жителите му, и ти си се смирил пред Мене, раздрал си дрехите си и си плакал пред Мене, затова и Аз те послушах, казва Господ.

because thy heart was tender, and thou didst humble thyself before God, when thou heardest his words against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, and hast humbled thyself before me, and hast rent thy clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard thee, saith Jehovah.

28 Е то, Аз ще те прибера при бащите ти и ще се прибереш в гроба си с мир; и твоите очи няма да видят нищо от цялото зло, което ще докарам на това място и на жителите му. И те доложиха на царя.

Behold, I will gather thee to thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered to thy grave in peace, neither shall thine eyes see all the evil that I will bring upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof. And they brought back word to the king.

29 Т огава царят прати и събра всичките Юдейски и йерусалимски старейшини.

Then the king sent and gathered together all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem.

30 С лед това царят отиде в Господния дом заедно с всички Юдейски мъже и йерусалимските жители - свещениците, левитите и целия народ от голям до малък; и прочете на всеослушание пред тях всички думи от книгата на завета, която бе намерена в Господния дом.

And the king went up to the house of Jehovah, and all the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the priests, and the Levites, and all the people, both great and small: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant that was found in the house of Jehovah.

31 Ц арят застана на мястото си и сключи завет пред Господа - да следва Господа, да пази заповедите Му, откровенията Му и наредбите Му с цялото си сърце и с цялата си душа, за да изпълнява думите на завета, които са записани в тази книга.

And the king stood in his place, and made a covenant before Jehovah, to walk after Jehovah, and to keep his commandments, and his testimonies, and his statutes, with all his heart, and with all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant that were written in this book.

32 И накара всички, които се намираха в Йерусалим и във Вениамин, да потвърдят завета. И йерусалимските жители постъпиха според завета на Бога, Бога на бащите си.

And he caused all that were found in Jerusalem and Benjamin to stand to it. And the inhabitants of Jerusalem did according to the covenant of God, the God of their fathers.

33 Й осия премахна всички мерзости от всички места, принадлежащи на израелтяните, и накара всички, които се намираха в Израел, да служат на Господа, своя Бог; през всичките му дни те не се отклониха от следване Господа, Бога на бащите си.

And Josiah took away all the abominations out of all the countries that pertained to the children of Israel, and made all that were found in Israel to serve, even to serve Jehovah their God. All his days they departed not from following Jehovah, the God of their fathers.
