1 С лед това гневът на Господа пак пламна против Израел и Той подбуди Давид против тях, като каза: Иди, преброй Израел и Юда.

And again the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them, saying, Go, number Israel and Judah.

2 И така, царят каза на началника на войската Йоав, който беше с него: Мини сега през всички Израелеви племена от Дан до Вирсавее и пребройте народа, за да узная броя на народа.

And the king said to Joab the captain of the host, who was with him, Go now to and fro through all the tribes of Israel, from Dan even to Beer-sheba, and number ye the people, that I may know the sum of the people.

3 А Йоав отвърна на царя: Господ, твоят Бог, дано прибави на народа стократно повече, отколкото са, и очите на господаря ми, царя, дано видят това. Но защо господарят ми, царят, намира наслада в това?

And Joab said unto the king, Now Jehovah thy God add unto the people, how many soever they may be, a hundredfold; and may the eyes of my lord the king see it: but why doth my lord the king delight in this thing?

4 О баче царската дума надделя над Йоав и над началниците на войската. Затова Йоав и началниците на войската тръгнаха от името на царя да преброят Израелевия народ.

Notwithstanding, the king's word prevailed against Joab, and against the captains of the host. And Joab and the captains of the host went out from the presence of the king, to number the people of Israel.

5 К ато преминаха Йордан, се разположиха при Ароир, към Гад и към Язир, отдясно на града, който е сред долината.

And they passed over the Jordan, and encamped in Aroer, on the right side of the city that is in the middle of the valley of Gad, and unto Jazer:

6 П осле отидоха в Галаад и в земята Тахтим-одси. Отидоха и в Дан-яан и в околността до Сидон.

then they came to Gilead, and to the land of Tahtim-hodshi; and they came to Dan-jaan, and round about to Sidon,

7 С лед това отидоха в Тирската крепост и във всички градове на евейците и на ханаанците; и излязоха във Вирсавее в южна Юда.

and came to the stronghold of Tyre, and to all the cities of the Hivites, and of the Canaanites; and they went out to the south of Judah, at Beer-sheba.

8 И така, като прекосиха цялата земя, се върнаха в Йерусалим след девет месеца и двадесет дни.

So when they had gone to and from through all the land, they came to Jerusalem at the end of nine months and twenty days.

9 Й оав доложи на царя броя на преброения народ. Броят беше: от Израел - осемстотин хиляди силни мъже, които можеха да си служат с меч; и от Юдовите мъже - петстотин хиляди.

And Joab gave up the sum of the numbering of the people unto the king: and there were in Israel eight hundred thousand valiant men that drew the sword; and the men of Judah were five hundred thousand men.

10 С лед като Давид преброи народа, сърцето му го изобличи. И Давид каза на Господа: Съгреших тежко, като извърших това. Сега, моля Ти се, Господи, премахни беззаконието на слугата Си, защото направих голяма глупост.

And David's heart smote him after that he had numbered the people. And David said unto Jehovah, I have sinned greatly in that which I have done: but now, O Jehovah, put away, I beseech thee, the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.

11 И когато Давид стана на сутринта, Господнето слово дойде към пророка Гад, Давидовия ясновидец, като му каза:

And when David rose up in the morning, the word of Jehovah came unto the prophet Gad, David's seer, saying,

12 И ди и кажи на Давид: Така казва Господ: Три неща ти предлагам; избери си едно от тях, за да го извърша над теб.

Go and speak unto David, Thus saith Jehovah, I offer thee three things: choose thee one of them, that I may do it unto thee.

13 И така, Гад отиде при Давид и му извести това. После му каза: Дали за седем години да има върху тебе глад по земята ти, или три месеца да бягаш от неприятелите си, като те преследват, или три дни да има мор в земята ти? Размисли сега и виж какъв отговор да отнеса на Онзи, Който ме е пратил.

So Gad came to David, and told him, and said unto him, Shall seven years of famine come unto thee in thy land? or wilt thou flee three months before thy foes while they pursue thee? or shall there be three days' pestilence in thy land? now advise thee, and consider what answer I shall return to him that sent me.

14 Д авид отвърна на Гад: Намирам се в голямо утеснение; обаче нека паднем в ръката на Господа, защото Неговите милости са много; но в ръката на човек да не изпадна.

And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let us fall now into the hand of Jehovah; for his mercies are great; and let me not fall into the hand of man.

15 И така, Господ прати мор върху Израел от онази сутрин до определеното време. И измряха от народа, от Дан до Вирсавее, седемдесет хиляди мъже.

So Jehovah sent a pestilence upon Israel from the morning even to the time appointed; and there died of the people from Dan even to Beer-sheba seventy thousand men.

16 А когато ангелът простря ръката си към Йерусалим, за да го погуби, Господ се разкая за злото и каза на ангела, който погубваше народа: Стига вече; оттегли сега ръката си. А ангелът Господен беше близо до хармана на йевусееца Орна.

And when the angel stretched out his hand toward Jerusalem to destroy it, Jehovah repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed the people, It is enough; now stay thy hand. And the angel of Jehovah was by the threshing-floor of Araunah the Jebusite.

17 И когато видя ангела, който поразяваше народа, Давид проговори на Господа: Ето, аз съгреших, аз извърших беззаконие. Тези овце какво са направили? Над мене, моля Ти се, нека бъде ръката Ти и над моя бащин дом.

And David spake unto Jehovah when he saw the angel that smote the people, and said, Lo, I have sinned, and I have done perversely; but these sheep, what have they done? let thy hand, I pray thee, be against me, and against my father's house.

18 В същия ден Гад дойде при Давид и му каза: Излез, издигни жертвеник на Господа на хармана на йевусееца Орна.

And Gad came that day to David, and said unto him, Go up, rear an altar unto Jehovah in the threshing-floor of Araunah the Jebusite.

19 И така, Давид излезе според думата на Гад, както заповяда Господ.

And David went up according to the saying of Gad, as Jehovah commanded.

20 А Орна погледна и видя, че царят и слугите му идват към него. И Орна излезе и се поклони на царя с лице до земята.

And Araunah looked forth, and saw the king and his servants coming on toward him: and Araunah went out, and bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.

21 Т огава Орна каза: Защо е дошъл господарят ми, царят, при слугата си? А Давид отговори: Да купя хармана от тебе, за да издигна жертвеник на Господа, за да престане язвата между народа.

And Araunah said, Wherefore is my lord the king come to his servant? And David said, To buy the threshing-floor of thee, to build an altar unto Jehovah, that the plague may be stayed from the people.

22 А Орна каза на Давид: Господарят ми, царят, нека вземе и принесе в жертва каквото му се вижда за добре; ето воловете за всеизгаряне и диканите, и впряга на воловете за дърва.

And Araunah said unto David, Let my lord the king take and offer up what seemeth good unto him: behold, the oxen for the burnt-offering, and the threshing instruments and the yokes of the oxen for the wood:

23 В сичко това, о, царю, Орна дава на царя. Орна прибави също: Господ, твоят Бог, да има благоволение към теб.

all this, O king, doth Araunah give unto the king. And Araunah said unto the king, Jehovah thy God accept thee.

24 А царят каза на Орна: Не! Непременно ще го купя от тебе за определена цена; защото не искам да принеса на Господа, моя Бог, всеизгаряния, за които не съм платил нищо. И така, Давид купи хармана; а воловете купи за петдесет сребърни сикъла.

And the king said unto Araunah, Nay; but I will verily buy it of thee at a price. Neither will I offer burnt-offerings unto Jehovah my God which cost me nothing. So David bought the threshing-floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.

25 Т ам Давид издигна жертвеник на Господа и принесе всеизгаряния и мирни приноси. И Господ прие молбата за земята и язвата престана сред Израел.

And David built there an altar unto Jehovah, and offered burnt-offerings and peace-offerings. So Jehovah was entreated for the land, and the plague was stayed from Israel.
