1 P oi DIO si ricordò di Noè, di tutti gli esseri viventi e di tutto il bestiame che era con lui nell'orca; e DIO fece passare un vento sulla terra, e le acque si abbassarono.

Then God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the animals that were with him in the ark. And God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters subsided.

2 L e fonti dell'abisso e le cateratte del cielo furono chiuse e la pioggia dal cielo cessò.

The fountains of the deep and the windows of heaven were also stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained.

3 E le acque andarono del continuo ritirandosi dalla terra; e alla fine di centocinquanta giorni erano diminuite.

And the waters receded continually from the earth. At the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters decreased.

4 N el settimo mese, il diciassettesimo giorno del mese, l'arca si fermò sulle montagne di Ararat.

Then the ark rested in the seventh month, the seventeenth day of the month, on the mountains of Ararat.

5 E le acque andarono diminuendo fino al decimo mese. Nel decimo mese il primo giorno del mese, apparvero le vette dei monti.

And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month. In the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains were seen.

6 C osì, in capo a quaranta giorni, avvenne che Noè aperse la finestra che aveva fatto nell'arca,

So it came to pass, at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made.

7 e mandò fuori il corvo, che continuò ad andare avanti e indietro, finché le acque furono asciugate sulla terra.

Then he sent out a raven, which kept going to and fro until the waters had dried up from the earth.

8 P oi mandò fuori la colomba, per vedere se le acque fossero diminuite sulla superficie della terra.

He also sent out from himself a dove, to see if the waters had receded from the face of the ground.

9 M a la colomba non trovò dove posare la pianta del suo piede, e tornò a lui nell'arca, perché c'erano ancora acque sulla superficie di tutta la terra; ed egli stese la mano, la prese e la trasse a sé nell'arca.

But the dove found no resting place for the sole of her foot, and she returned into the ark to him, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth. So he put out his hand and took her, and drew her into the ark to himself.

10 A spettò così altri sette giorni, poi mandò di nuovo la colomba fuori dell'arca.

And he waited yet another seven days, and again he sent the dove out from the ark.

11 E la colomba tornò a lui verso sera; ed ecco, essa aveva nel becco una foglia d'ulivo strappata di fresco; cosi Noè comprese che le acque si erano ritirate dalla terra.

Then the dove came to him in the evening, and behold, a freshly plucked olive leaf was in her mouth; and Noah knew that the waters had receded from the earth.

12 A llora aspettò altri sette giorni, poi mandò fuori la colomba; ma essa non ritornò piú da lui.

So he waited yet another seven days and sent out the dove, which did not return again to him anymore.

13 N ell'anno seicentouno di Noè, nel primo mese, nel primo giorno del mese, le acque si erano prosciugate sulla terra; e Noè scoperchiò l'arca, guardò, ed ecco che la superficie del suolo era asciutta.

And it came to pass in the six hundred and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, that the waters were dried up from the earth; and Noah removed the covering of the ark and looked, and indeed the surface of the ground was dry.

14 C osì nel secondo mese nel ventisettesimo giorno del mese, la terra era asciutta.

And in the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dried.

15 A llora DIO parlò a Noè, dicendo:

Then God spoke to Noah, saying,

16 « Esci dall'arca tu, tua moglie, i tuoi figli e le mogli dei tuoi figli con te.

“Go out of the ark, you and your wife, and your sons and your sons’ wives with you.

17 F a' uscire con te tutti gli animali che sono con te, di ogni carne: uccelli, bestiame e tutti i rettili che strisciano sulla terra, perché crescano grandemente sulla terra, e siano fecondi e si moltiplichino sulla terra».

Bring out with you every living thing of all flesh that is with you: birds and cattle and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, so that they may abound on the earth, and be fruitful and multiply on the earth.”

18 C osì Noè usci con i suoi figli, con sua moglie e con le mogli dei suoi figli.

So Noah went out, and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives with him.

19 T utti gli animali, tutti i rettili, tutti gli uccelli, tutto quello che si muove sulla terra, secondo le loro famiglie, uscirono dall'arca.

Every animal, every creeping thing, every bird, and whatever creeps on the earth, according to their families, went out of the ark. God’s Covenant with Creation

20 A llora Noè edificò un altare all'Eterno, e prese di ogni specie di animali puri e di ogni specie di uccelli puri e offrì olocausti sull'altare.

Then Noah built an altar to the Lord, and took of every clean animal and of every clean bird, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.

21 E l'Eterno sentì un odore soave; così l'Eterno disse in cuor suo: «Io non maledirò piú la terra a motivo dell'uomo, perché i disegni del cuore dell'uomo sono malvagi fin dalla sua fanciullezza; e non colpirò più ogni cosa vivente, come ho fatto.

And the Lord smelled a soothing aroma. Then the Lord said in His heart, “I will never again curse the ground for man’s sake, although the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done.

22 F inché la terra durerà, semina e raccolta, freddo e caldo, estate e inverno, giorno e notte non cesseranno mai».

“While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, Cold and heat, Winter and summer, And day and night Shall not cease.”
