1 L a parola dell'Eterno mi fu rivolta, dicendo:

The word of the Lord came to me again, saying,

2 « Figlio d'uomo, di' al principe di Tiro: Cosí dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Poiché il tuo cuore si è innalzato e hai detto: Io sono un dio, io siedo su un trono di dèi nel cuore dei mari mentre sei un uomo e non un dio, anche se hai fatto il tuo cuore come il cuore di Dio.

“Son of man, say to the prince of Tyre, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Because your heart is lifted up, And you say, ‘I am a god, I sit in the seat of gods, In the midst of the seas,’ Yet you are a man, and not a god, Though you set your heart as the heart of a god

3 E cco tu sei piú savio di Daniele, nessun segreto rimane nascosto a te.

(Behold, you are wiser than Daniel! There is no secret that can be hidden from you!

4 C on la tua sapienza e con la tua intelligenza ti sei procurato ricchezze e hai ammassato oro e argento nei tuoi tesori;

With your wisdom and your understanding You have gained riches for yourself, And gathered gold and silver into your treasuries;

5 c on la tua grande sapienza con il tuo commercio hai accresciuto le tue ricchezze e a motivo delle tue ricchezze il tuo cuore si è innalzato».

By your great wisdom in trade you have increased your riches, And your heart is lifted up because of your riches),”

6 P er questo cosí dice il Signore, l'Eterno: «Poiché hai fatto il tuo cuore come il cuore di Dio,

‘Therefore thus says the Lord God: “Because you have set your heart as the heart of a god,

7 p erciò ecco, io farò venire contro di te le piú terribili nazioni; essi sguaineranno le loro spade contro lo splendore della tua sapienza e contamineranno la tua bellezza.

Behold, therefore, I will bring strangers against you, The most terrible of the nations; And they shall draw their swords against the beauty of your wisdom, And defile your splendor.

8 T i faranno scendere nella fossa e tu morirai della morte di quelli che sono trafitti nel cuore dei mari.

They shall throw you down into the Pit, And you shall die the death of the slain In the midst of the seas.

12 « Figlio d'uomo, innalza una lamentazione sul re di Tiro e digli: Cosi dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Tu eri il sigillo della perfezione, pieno di sapienza e perfetto in bellezza.

“Son of man, take up a lamentation for the king of Tyre, and say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “You were the seal of perfection, Full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.

13 E ri nell'Eden il giardino di DIO; eri coperto d'ogni pietra preziosa: rubini, topazi, diamanti, crisoliti, onici, diaspri, zaffiri, carbonchi, smeraldi e oro; la lavorazione dei tuoi tamburelli e dei tuoi flauti fu preparata per te nel giorno in cui fosti creato.

You were in Eden, the garden of God; Every precious stone was your covering: The sardius, topaz, and diamond, Beryl, onyx, and jasper, Sapphire, turquoise, and emerald with gold. The workmanship of your timbrels and pipes Was prepared for you on the day you were created.

14 T u eri un cherubino, unto, un protettore. Io ti avevo posto sul monte santo di DIO e camminavi in mezzo a pietre di fuoco.

“You were the anointed cherub who covers; I established you; You were on the holy mountain of God; You walked back and forth in the midst of fiery stones.

15 T u eri perfetto nelle tue vie dal giorno in cui fosti creato, finché non si trovò in te la perversità.

You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created, Till iniquity was found in you.

16 P er l'abbondanza del tuo commercio, ti sei riempito di violenza e hai peccato; perciò ti ho scacciato come un profano dal monte di DIO e ti ho distrutto o cherubino protettore di mezzo alle pietre di fuoco.

“By the abundance of your trading You became filled with violence within, And you sinned; Therefore I cast you as a profane thing Out of the mountain of God; And I destroyed you, O covering cherub, From the midst of the fiery stones.

17 I l tuo cuore si era innalzato per la tua bellezza; hai corrotto la tua sapienza a motivo del tuo splendore. Ti getto a terra, ti metto davanti ai re, perché ti vedano.

“Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; You corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor; I cast you to the ground, I laid you before kings, That they might gaze at you.

18 C on la moltitudine delle tue iniquità, con la malvagità del tuo commercio hai profanato i tuoi santuari. Perciò ho fatto uscire di mezzo a te un fuoco che ti ha divorato, e ti ho ridotto in cenere sulla terra sotto gli occhi di quanti ti guardavano.

“You defiled your sanctuaries By the multitude of your iniquities, By the iniquity of your trading; Therefore I brought fire from your midst; It devoured you, And I turned you to ashes upon the earth In the sight of all who saw you.

19 T utti quelli che ti conoscevano tra i popoli restano stupefatti di te; sei diventato oggetto di terrore e non esisterai mai più».

All who knew you among the peoples are astonished at you; You have become a horror, And shall be no more forever.”’” Proclamation Against Sidon

20 L a parola dell'Eterno mi fu rivolta, dicendo:

Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

21 « Figlio d'Uomo, volgi la faccia verso Sidone e profetizza contro di lei,

“Son of man, set your face toward Sidon, and prophesy against her,

22 e di' Cosí dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Ecco, io sono contro di te, o Sidone, e sarò glorificato in mezzo a te. Riconosceranno che io sono l'Eterno quando eseguirò i miei giudizi a in mezzo a lei e sarò santificato in lei.

and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Behold, I am against you, O Sidon; I will be glorified in your midst; And they shall know that I am the Lord, When I execute judgments in her and am hallowed in her.

23 M anderò su di lei la peste e il sangue nelle sue vie in mezzo ad essa cadranno gli uccisi dalla spada, mandata contro di lei da ogni parte. Allora riconosceranno che io sono l'Eterno.

For I will send pestilence upon her, And blood in her streets; The wounded shall be judged in her midst By the sword against her on every side; Then they shall know that I am the Lord.

24 E non ci sarà piú per la casa d'Israele, alcun aculeo pungente o spina dolorosa fra tutti i suoi vicini che la disprezzano. Allora riconosceranno che io sono il Signore, l'Eterno».

“And there shall no longer be a pricking brier or a painful thorn for the house of Israel from among all who are around them, who despise them. Then they shall know that I am the Lord God.” Israel’s Future Blessing

25 C osì dice il Signore, l'Eterno: «Quando avrò raccolto quelli della casa d'Israele di mezzo ai popoli fra i quali sono dispersi e mi santificherò in loro agli occhi delle nazioni, essi abiteranno nel loro paese, che diedi al mio servo Giacobbe.

‘Thus says the Lord God: “When I have gathered the house of Israel from the peoples among whom they are scattered, and am hallowed in them in the sight of the Gentiles, then they will dwell in their own land which I gave to My servant Jacob.

26 V i abiteranno al sicuro, edificheranno case e pianteranno vigne; sí, abiteranno al sicuro, quando eseguirò i miei giudizi su tutti quelli intorno a loro che li disprezzano. Allora riconosceranno che io sono l'Eterno, il loro DIO».

And they will dwell safely there, build houses, and plant vineyards; yes, they will dwell securely, when I execute judgments on all those around them who despise them. Then they shall know that I am the Lord their God.”’”
