1 O r noi, che siamo forti, dobbiamo sopportare le debolezze dei deboli e non compiacere a noi stessi.

We then who are strong ought to bear with the scruples of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

2 C iascuno di noi compiaccia al prossimo nel bene, per l'edificazione,

Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, leading to edification.

3 p oiché anche Cristo non ha compiaciuto a se stesso, ma come sta scritto: «Gli oltraggi di coloro che ti oltraggiano sono caduti su di me».

For even Christ did not please Himself; but as it is written, “The reproaches of those who reproached You fell on Me.”

4 I nfatti tutte le cose che furono scritte in passato furono scritte per nostro ammaestramento, affinché mediante la perseveranza e la consolazione delle Scritture noi riteniamo la speranza.

For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.

5 O ra il Dio della pazienza e della consolazione vi dia di avere gli uni verso gli altri gli stessi pensieri, secondo Cristo Gesù,

Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus,

6 a ffinché con una sola mente e una sola bocca glorifichiate Dio, che è Padre del nostro Signore Gesú Cristo.

that you may with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Glorify God Together

7 P erciò accoglietevi gli uni gli altri come anche Cristo ci ha accolti per la gloria di Dio.

Therefore receive one another, just as Christ also received us, to the glory of God.

8 O r io dico che Gesú Cristo è diventato ministro dei circoncisi a difesa della verità di Dio, per confermare le promesse fatte ai padri,

Now I say that Jesus Christ has become a servant to the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made to the fathers,

9 e d ha accolto i gentili per la sua misericordia, affinché glorifichino Dio come sta scritto: «Per questo ti celebrerò fra le genti, e canterò le lodi del tuo nome».

and that the Gentiles might glorify God for His mercy, as it is written: “For this reason I will confess to You among the Gentiles, And sing to Your name.”

10 E altrove la Scrittura dice: «Rallegratevi, o genti, col suo popolo».

And again he says: “Rejoice, O Gentiles, with His people!”

11 E di nuovo «Lodate il Signore, tutte le genti; e lo celebrino i popoli tutti».

And again: “Praise the L ord, all you Gentiles! Laud Him, all you peoples!”

12 E d ancora Isaia dice: «Spunterà un germoglio dalla radice di Iesse, e colui che sorgerà per reggere le genti; le nazioni spereranno in lui».

And again, Isaiah says: “There shall be a root of Jesse; And He who shall rise to reign over the Gentiles, In Him the Gentiles shall hope.”

13 O ra il Dio della speranza vi riempia di ogni gioia e pace nel credere, affinché abbondiate nella speranza, per la potenza dello Spirito Santo.

Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. From Jerusalem to Illyricum

14 O ra, fratelli miei, io stesso sono persuaso a vostro riguardo, che anche voi siete pieni di bontà, ripieni d'ogni conoscenza, capaci anche di ammonirvi gli uni gli altri.

Now I myself am confident concerning you, my brethren, that you also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another.

15 M a, fratelli, io vi ho scritto alquanto piú arditamente, come per ricordarvi per la grazia che mi è stata data da Dio,

Nevertheless, brethren, I have written more boldly to you on some points, as reminding you, because of the grace given to me by God,

16 p er essere ministro di Gesú Cristo presso i gentili, adoperandomi nel sacro servizio dell'evangelo di Dio, affinché l'offerta dei gentili sia accettevole, santificata dallo Spirito Santo.

that I might be a minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering of the Gentiles might be acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

17 I o ho dunque di che gloriarmi in Cristo Gesú nelle cose che riguardano Dio.

Therefore I have reason to glory in Christ Jesus in the things which pertain to God.

18 I nfatti non ardirei dir cosa che Cristo non abbia operata per mezzo mio, per condurre all'ubbidienza i gentili con la parola e con l'opera,

For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ has not accomplished through me, in word and deed, to make the Gentiles obedient—

19 c on potenza di segni e di prodigi, con la potenza dello Spirito di Dio; cosí, da Gerusalemme e nei dintorni fino all'Illiria, ho compiuto il servizio dell'evangelo di Cristo,

in mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God, so that from Jerusalem and round about to Illyricum I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.

20 a vendo l'ambizione di evangelizzare là dove non era ancora stato nominato Cristo, per non edificare sul fondamento altrui.

And so I have made it my aim to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build on another man’s foundation,

21 M a, come sta scritto: «Coloro ai quali non era stato annunziato nulla di lui vedranno, e coloro che non avevano udito parlare intenderanno».

but as it is written: “To whom He was not announced, they shall see; And those who have not heard shall understand.” Plan to Visit Rome

22 A nche per questo motivo sono stato spesse volte impedito di venire da voi.

For this reason I also have been much hindered from coming to you.

23 M a ora, non avendo piú luogo da evangelizzare in queste contrade, avendo da molti anni un grande desiderio di venire da voi,

But now no longer having a place in these parts, and having a great desire these many years to come to you,

24 q uando andrò in Spagna, verrò da voi; passando, spero infatti di vedervi e di essere accompagnato da voi fin là, dopo aver goduto un poco della vostra compagnia.

whenever I journey to Spain, I shall come to you. For I hope to see you on my journey, and to be helped on my way there by you, if first I may enjoy your company for a while.

25 M a ora vado a Gerusalemme per sovvenire ai santi,

But now I am going to Jerusalem to minister to the saints.

26 p erché a quelli della Macedonia e dell'Acaia è piaciuto di fare contribuzione per i poveri che sono fra i santi in Gerusalemme.

For it pleased those from Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor among the saints who are in Jerusalem.

27 O ra è piaciuto loro di far questo, perché sono ad essi debitori; se i gentili infatti hanno avuto parte dei loro beni spirituali, devono anche sovvenire loro nei beni materiali.

It pleased them indeed, and they are their debtors. For if the Gentiles have been partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to minister to them in material things.

28 D opo dunque aver compiuto questo ed aver consegnato loro questo frutto, andrò in Spagna, passando da voi.

Therefore, when I have performed this and have sealed to them this fruit, I shall go by way of you to Spain.

29 M a io so che, venendo da voi, verrò nella pienezza della benedizione dell'evangelo di Cristo.

But I know that when I come to you, I shall come in the fullness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ.

30 O r vi esorto, fratelli, per il Signor nostro Gesú Cristo e per l'amore dello Spirito, a combattere con me presso Dio per me nelle vostre preghiere,

Now I beg you, brethren, through the Lord Jesus Christ, and through the love of the Spirit, that you strive together with me in prayers to God for me,

31 a ffinché io sia liberato dagli increduli che sono nella Giudea, perché il mio servizio per Gerusalemme sia accettevole ai santi,

that I may be delivered from those in Judea who do not believe, and that my service for Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints,

32 a ffinché, se piace a Dio, io venga con gioia da voi e sia ricreato insieme a voi.

that I may come to you with joy by the will of God, and may be refreshed together with you.

33 O ra il Dio della pace sia con tutti voi Amen.

Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.
