1 Б о Господь ось, Господь Саваот візьме з Єрусалиму й з Юдеї підпору й опору: усяку підпору від хліба, і всяку підпору води,

For, behold, the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, takes away from Jerusalem and from Judah supply and support, the whole supply of bread, and the whole supply of water;

2 л ицаря та вояка, суддю та пророка, і чарівника та старого,

the mighty man, the man of war, the judge, the prophet, the diviner, the elder,

3 п 'ятдесятника та родовитого, і радника, і в мистецтві премудрого, і в закляттях умілого,

the captain of fifty, the honorable man, the counselor, the skilled craftsman, and the clever enchanter.

4 і за правителів дам юнаків, і дітваки запанують над ними!

I will give boys to be their princes, and children shall rule over them.

5 І буде чавити народ один одного, і кожен свого ближнього! Повстане хлопчак на старого, а легковажений на поважаного...

The people will be oppressed, everyone by another, and everyone by his neighbor. The child will behave himself proudly against the old man, and the base against the honorable.

6 Б о схопить брат брата свого в домі батька свого та й скаже: Ти маєш одежу, то будь нашим правителем, і під рукою твоєю хай буде руїна оця!

Indeed a man shall take hold of his brother in the house of his father, saying, “You have clothing, you be our ruler, and let this ruin be under your hand.”

7 Т ого дня він підійме свій голос та й скаже: Не буду я рани обв'язувати вам, бо в домі моєму немає ні хліба, ні одягу, не настановляйте мене за правителя люду!

In that day he will cry out, saying, “I will not be a healer; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing. You shall not make me ruler of the people.”

8 Б о рухнув Єрусалим, і впала Юдея, бо їхній язик та їхній чин проти Господа, щоб упертими бути очам Його слави...

For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen; because their tongue and their doings are against Yahweh, to provoke the eyes of his glory.

9 П роти них свідчить вираз лиця їхнього, а гріх свій вони виявляють, немов той Содом, не перечать. Горе їхній душі, бо вчинили вони собі зло!

The look of their faces testify against them. They parade their sin like Sodom. They don’t hide it. Woe to their soul! For they have brought disaster upon themselves.

10 С кажіте про праведного: Буде добре йому, бо вони споживуть плід учинків своїх.

Tell the righteous “Good!” For they shall eat the fruit of their deeds.

11 Т а горе безбожному, зле, бо йому буде зроблений чин його рук!

Woe to the wicked! Disaster is upon them; for the deeds of his hands will be paid back to him.

12 Н арод Мій, дітиська його утискають, а жінки мають гору над ним... Народе ти Мій, твої провідники вчинили блудячим тебе, і дорогу стежок твоїх сплутали!

As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. My people, those who lead you cause you to err, and destroy the way of your paths.

13 Г осподь став на прю, і стоїть, щоб судити народи.

Yahweh stands up to contend, and stands to judge the peoples.

14 Г осподь іде на суд, щоб судитись з старшими народу Свого та з вождями його: Ви виноградника знищили, грабунок з убогого в ваших домах!

Yahweh will enter into judgment with the elders of his people, and their leaders: “It is you who have eaten up the vineyard. The plunder of the poor is in your houses.

15 Щ о це сталося вам, що народ Мій ви гнобите та утискаєте вбогих? Так говорить Господь, Бог Саваот.

What do you mean that you crush my people, and grind the face of the poor?” says the Lord, Yahweh of Armies.

16 І промовив Господь: Зате, що дочки Сіонські загорділи, і ходять витягненошиї, і моргають очима, і все ходять дрібними крочками, і дзвонять спряжками на ногах своїх,

Moreover Yahweh said, “Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with outstretched necks and flirting eyes, walking to trip as they go, jingling ornaments on their feet;

17 т ому вчинить Господь тім'я Сіонських дочок паршивим, і їхній сором обнажить Господь!...

therefore the Lord brings sores on the crown of the head of the women of Zion, and Yahweh will make their scalps bald.”

18 Т ого дня поскидає Господь окрасу спряжок на їхніх ногах, і чільця, і місяці,

In that day the Lord will take away the beauty of their anklets, the headbands, the crescent necklaces,

19 с ережки, нараменники, і серпанки,

the earrings, the bracelets, the veils,

20 і завої, і ланцюжки на ногах, і пояски, і пляшечки з пахощами, і чарівничі привіски,

the headdresses, the ankle chains, the sashes, the perfume bottles, the charms,

21 п ерсні, і сережки носові,

the signet rings, the nose rings,

22 ч удові убрання, і окриття, і намітки та торби,

the fine robes, the capes, the cloaks, the purses,

23 д зеркала й льняні хитони та турбани, і прозорі покривала.

the hand mirrors, the fine linen garments, the tiaras, and the shawls.

24 І станеться, замість бальзаму сморід буде, і замість пояса шнур, а замість мистецько укладених кучерів лисина, і замість хитона цінного верета з паском, а замість краси спаленина!

It shall happen that instead of sweet spices, there shall be rottenness; instead of a belt, a rope; instead of well set hair, baldness; instead of a robe, a wearing of sackcloth; and branding instead of beauty.

25 П опадають мужі твої від меча, а лицарство твоє на війні,

Your men shall fall by the sword, and your mighty in the war.

26 і будуть стогнати та плакати ворота її, і буде спустошена, й сяде на землю Сіонська дочка...

Her gates shall lament and mourn; and she shall be desolate and sit on the ground.
