1 N ow Jacob heard the words of Laban’s sons, saying, “Jacob has taken away all that was our father’s, and from what was our father’s he has acquired all this wealth.”

2 A nd Jacob saw the countenance of Laban, and indeed it was not favorable toward him as before.

И Иаков заметил, что Лаван относится к нему не так, как раньше.

3 T hen the Lord said to Jacob, “Return to the land of your fathers and to your family, and I will be with you.”

Господь сказал Иакову: – Возвращайся в землю отцов, к своей родне, и Я буду с тобой.

4 S o Jacob sent and called Rachel and Leah to the field, to his flock,

Иаков послал сказать Рахили и Лии, чтобы они вышли в поле, где были его отары.

5 a nd said to them, “I see your father’s countenance, that it is not favorable toward me as before; but the God of my father has been with me.

Он сказал им: – Я вижу, что ваш отец относится ко мне не так, как прежде, но Бог моего отца со мной.

6 A nd you know that with all my might I have served your father.

Вы знаете, что я работал на вашего отца изо всех сил,

7 Y et your father has deceived me and changed my wages ten times, but God did not allow him to hurt me.

а ваш отец обманывал меня, десять раз меняя мою плату. Но Бог не дал меня ему в обиду.

8 I f he said thus: ‘The speckled shall be your wages,’ then all the flocks bore speckled. And if he said thus: ‘The streaked shall be your wages,’ then all the flocks bore streaked.

Если он говорил: «Платой твоей будут крапчатые», – то весь скот рождал крапчатых, а если он говорил: «Платой твоей будут пестрые», – то весь скот рождал пестрых.

9 S o God has taken away the livestock of your father and given them to me.

Так Бог забрал скот у вашего отца и отдал мне.

10 “ And it happened, at the time when the flocks conceived, that I lifted my eyes and saw in a dream, and behold, the rams which leaped upon the flocks were streaked, speckled, and gray-spotted.

Однажды, в то время, когда спаривается скот, мне приснился сон: я поднял взгляд и увидел, что козлы, покрывавшие коз, были пестрыми, крапчатыми или пятнистыми.

11 T hen the Angel of God spoke to me in a dream, saying, ‘Jacob.’ And I said, ‘Here I am.’

Ангел Бога сказал мне во сне: «Иаков». Я ответил: «Я здесь».

12 A nd He said, ‘Lift your eyes now and see, all the rams which leap on the flocks are streaked, speckled, and gray-spotted; for I have seen all that Laban is doing to you.

Он сказал: «Взгляни, и ты увидишь: все козлы, покрывающие скот, – пестрые, крапчатые или пятнистые, потому что Я увидел как обошелся с тобой Лаван.

13 I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed the pillar and where you made a vow to Me. Now arise, get out of this land, and return to the land of your family.’”

Я – Бог Вефиля, где ты возлил масло на памятник и поклялся Мне; оставь же немедленно эту землю и возвращайся в землю, где ты родился».

14 T hen Rachel and Leah answered and said to him, “Is there still any portion or inheritance for us in our father’s house?

Рахиль и Лия ответили: – Да есть ли у нас еще доля в наследстве отца?

15 A re we not considered strangers by him? For he has sold us, and also completely consumed our money.

Разве не видно, что он считает нас за чужих? Он продал нас и истратил то, что за нас выручил.

16 F or all these riches which God has taken from our father are really ours and our children’s; now then, whatever God has said to you, do it.”

Конечно же, все богатство, которое Бог забрал у отца, принадлежит нам и нашим детям, так что поступай, как велит тебе Бог.

17 T hen Jacob rose and set his sons and his wives on camels.

Иаков посадил детей и жен на верблюдов,

18 A nd he carried away all his livestock and all his possessions which he had gained, his acquired livestock which he had gained in Padan Aram, to go to his father Isaac in the land of Canaan.

погнал весь скот впереди себя, и взяв все добро, которое он скопил в Паддан-Араме, отправился в путь к своему отцу Исааку в землю Ханаана.

19 N ow Laban had gone to shear his sheep, and Rachel had stolen the household idols that were her father’s.

Когда Лаван ушел стричь овец, Рахиль украла его божков.

20 A nd Jacob stole away, unknown to Laban the Syrian, in that he did not tell him that he intended to flee.

А Иаков обманул арамея Лавана, не известив его о своем уходе.

21 S o he fled with all that he had. He arose and crossed the river, and headed toward the mountains of Gilead. Laban Pursues Jacob

Он бежал со всем своим имуществом и, перейдя реку, направился к нагорьям Галаада. Лаван заключает с Иаковом договор

22 A nd Laban was told on the third day that Jacob had fled.

На третий день Лавану сообщили, что Иаков бежал.

23 T hen he took his brethren with him and pursued him for seven days’ journey, and he overtook him in the mountains of Gilead.

Взяв с собой родственников, он погнался за Иаковом и через семь дней настиг его в нагорьях Галаада.

24 B ut God had come to Laban the Syrian in a dream by night, and said to him, “Be careful that you speak to Jacob neither good nor bad.”

Но ночью Бог явился арамею Лавану во сне и сказал ему: «Берегись, не говори ничего Иакову, ни хорошего, ни плохого».

25 S o Laban overtook Jacob. Now Jacob had pitched his tent in the mountains, and Laban with his brethren pitched in the mountains of Gilead.

Лаван догнал Иакова. Иаков уже поставил шатер в нагорьях Галаада, и Лаван с родней тоже стали там лагерем.

26 A nd Laban said to Jacob: “What have you done, that you have stolen away unknown to me, and carried away my daughters like captives taken with the sword?

Лаван сказал Иакову: – Что ты сделал? Ты обманул меня и увел моих дочерей, как пленников на войне.

27 W hy did you flee away secretly, and steal away from me, and not tell me; for I might have sent you away with joy and songs, with timbrel and harp?

Почему ты убежал тайком? Почему ты не сказал мне, чтобы я мог проводить тебя с радостью и с песнями, под музыку бубна и арфы?

28 A nd you did not allow me to kiss my sons and my daughters. Now you have done foolishly in so doing.

Ты не дал мне даже поцеловать на прощание внуков и дочерей. Ты поступил безрассудно.

29 I t is in my power to do you harm, but the God of your father spoke to me last night, saying, ‘Be careful that you speak to Jacob neither good nor bad.’

В моих силах причинить тебе зло, но прошлой ночью Бог твоего отца сказал мне: «Берегись, не говори Иакову ничего, ни хорошего, ни плохого».

30 A nd now you have surely gone because you greatly long for your father’s house, but why did you steal my gods?”

Допустим, ты ушел, потому что тебе не терпелось вернуться в отцовский дом, но зачем ты украл моих божков?

31 T hen Jacob answered and said to Laban, “Because I was afraid, for I said, ‘Perhaps you would take your daughters from me by force.’

Иаков ответил Лавану: – Я боялся, потому что думал, что ты силой отнимешь у меня твоих дочерей.

32 W ith whomever you find your gods, do not let him live. In the presence of our brethren, identify what I have of yours and take it with you.” For Jacob did not know that Rachel had stolen them.

Если же ты найдешь у кого-нибудь здесь своих божков, тому не жить. В присутствии родни смотри сам, есть ли у меня что-нибудь твое, и если есть, то забирай обратно. Иаков не знал, что божков украла Рахиль.

33 A nd Laban went into Jacob’s tent, into Leah’s tent, and into the two maids’ tents, but he did not find them. Then he went out of Leah’s tent and entered Rachel’s tent.

Лаван вошел в шатер Иакова, в шатер Лии и в шатер двух служанок, но ничего не нашел. После шатра Лии он вошел в шатер Рахили.

34 N ow Rachel had taken the household idols, put them in the camel’s saddle, and sat on them. And Laban searched all about the tent but did not find them.

Рахиль же взяла домашних божков, положила их в верблюжье седло и села на них. Лаван обыскал весь шатер, но ничего не нашел.

35 A nd she said to her father, “Let it not displease my lord that I cannot rise before you, for the manner of women is with me.” And he searched but did not find the household idols.

Рахиль сказала отцу: – Не гневайся, мой господин: я не могу встать перед тобой, потому что у меня то, что обычно бывает у женщин. Как он ни искал, он не смог найти божков.

36 T hen Jacob was angry and rebuked Laban, and Jacob answered and said to Laban: “What is my trespass? What is my sin, that you have so hotly pursued me?

Иаков был вне себя от гнева и стал выговаривать Лавану: – В чем мое преступление? – спросил он. – Какой грех я совершил, что ты пустился за мной в погоню?

37 A lthough you have searched all my things, what part of your household things have you found? Set it here before my brethren and your brethren, that they may judge between us both!

Ты обыскал все мое добро – что ты нашел из своего имущества? Положи, что нашел, перед твоей и моей родней, и пусть они нас рассудят.

38 T hese twenty years I have been with you; your ewes and your female goats have not miscarried their young, and I have not eaten the rams of your flock.

Двадцать лет я прожил у тебя: твои овцы и козы не выкидывали, баранов из твоих стад я не ел.

39 T hat which was torn by beasts I did not bring to you; I bore the loss of it. You required it from my hand, whether stolen by day or stolen by night.

Растерзанных диким зверем я не приносил к тебе, но сам возмещал убытки; ты же требовал с меня платы за все, что было украдено, днем ли это случилось или ночью.

40 T here I was! In the day the drought consumed me, and the frost by night, and my sleep departed from my eyes.

Вот каково мне было: зной палил меня днем, холод терзал меня ночью, и сон бежал от моих глаз.

41 T hus I have been in your house twenty years; I served you fourteen years for your two daughters, and six years for your flock, and you have changed my wages ten times.

Таковы были те двадцать лет, что я жил в твоем доме. Я работал на тебя четырнадцать лет за двух твоих дочерей и шесть лет за скот, а ты десять раз менял мою плату.

42 U nless the God of my father, the God of Abraham and the Fear of Isaac, had been with me, surely now you would have sent me away empty-handed. God has seen my affliction and the labor of my hands, and rebuked you last night.” Laban’s Covenant with Jacob

Если бы не был со мной Бог моего отца, Бог Авраама, Тот, Кого боялся Исаак, то ты, конечно, отослал бы меня с пустыми руками. Но Бог увидел мои лишения и труд моих рук и рассудил нас прошлой ночью.

43 A nd Laban answered and said to Jacob, “ These daughters are my daughters, and these children are my children, and this flock is my flock; all that you see is mine. But what can I do this day to these my daughters or to their children whom they have borne?

Лаван ответил Иакову: – Эти дочери – мои дочери, дети – мои дети, и стада – мои стада; все, что ты видишь – мое. Но что же я могу теперь сделать с моими дочерьми или с детьми, которых они родили?

44 N ow therefore, come, let us make a covenant, you and I, and let it be a witness between you and me.”

Давай же заключим договор, ты и я, и пусть он будет свидетельством между нами.

45 S o Jacob took a stone and set it up as a pillar.

Иаков взял камень и поставил его памятным знаком.

46 T hen Jacob said to his brethren, “Gather stones.” And they took stones and made a heap, and they ate there on the heap.

Он сказал своей родне: – Наберите камней. Они набрали камней, сложили их грудой и сели возле нее за трапезу.

47 L aban called it Jegar Sahadutha, but Jacob called it Galeed.

Лаван назвал ее Иегар-Сагадута, а Иаков – Гал-Эд.

48 A nd Laban said, “This heap is a witness between you and me this day.” Therefore its name was called Galeed,

Лаван сказал: – Эта насыпь – свидетельство между тобой и мной сегодня. Вот почему ее назвали Гал-Эд,

49 a lso Mizpah, because he said, “May the Lord watch between you and me when we are absent one from another.

а также Мицпа, ведь он сказал: – Пусть Господь смотрит за тобой и мной, когда мы будем вдали друг от друга.

50 I f you afflict my daughters, or if you take other wives besides my daughters, although no man is with us—see, God is witness between you and me!”

Если ты будешь плохо обходиться с моими дочерьми или возьмешь себе других жен, кроме моих дочерей – даже если никого с нами нет, помни, что Бог – Свидетель между тобой и мной.

51 T hen Laban said to Jacob, “Here is this heap and here is this pillar, which I have placed between you and me.

Еще Лаван сказал Иакову: – Вот груда камней и памятный столб, который я поставил между тобой и мной.

52 T his heap is a witness, and this pillar is a witness, that I will not pass beyond this heap to you, and you will not pass beyond this heap and this pillar to me, for harm.

Эти камни – свидетельство, и этот памятный столб – во свидетельство того, что я не перейду за эту груду камней на твою сторону, чтобы причинить тебе зло, и ты не перейдешь за этот памятный знак и груду камней на мою сторону, чтобы причинить мне зло.

53 T he God of Abraham, the God of Nahor, and the God of their father judge between us.” And Jacob swore by the Fear of his father Isaac.

Пусть Бог Авраама и Бог Нахора, Бог их предков, судит между нами. И Иаков поклялся Тем, Которого боялся его отец Исаак.

54 T hen Jacob offered a sacrifice on the mountain, and called his brethren to eat bread. And they ate bread and stayed all night on the mountain.

Он принес жертву там в нагорье и пригласил родственников разделить трапезу. Они поели и переночевали там,

55 A nd early in the morning Laban arose, and kissed his sons and daughters and blessed them. Then Laban departed and returned to his place.

а рано утром Лаван поцеловал внуков и дочерей, благословил их и отправился домой.
