1 N ow Ahab had seventy sons in Samaria. And Jehu wrote and sent letters to Samaria, to the rulers of Jezreel, to the elders, and to those who reared Ahab’s sons, saying:

В Самарии было семьдесят сыновей Ахава. Ииуй написал письма и послал их в Самарию к правителям Изрееля, к старейшинам и воспитателям сыновей Ахава. Он сказал:

2 N ow as soon as this letter comes to you, since your master’s sons are with you, and you have chariots and horses, a fortified city also, and weapons,

– Как только вы получите это письмо, то раз с вами сыновья вашего господина и у вас есть колесницы и кони, укрепленный город и оружие,

3 c hoose the best qualified of your master’s sons, set him on his father’s throne, and fight for your master’s house.

выберите лучшего и достойнейшего из сыновей вашего господина и посадите его на отцовский престол. А затем сражайтесь за дом господина своего.

4 B ut they were exceedingly afraid, and said, “Look, two kings could not stand up to him; how then can we stand?”

Но они очень испугались и сказали: – Если ему не смогли противостоять два царя, то как можем мы?

5 A nd he who was in charge of the house, and he who was in charge of the city, the elders also, and those who reared the sons, sent to Jehu, saying, “We are your servants, we will do all you tell us; but we will not make anyone king. Do what is good in your sight.”

Распорядитель дворца, правитель города, старейшины и воспитатели послали сказать Ииую: – Мы твои слуги и сделаем все, что ты скажешь. Мы не будем никого ставить царем, делай все, как считаешь нужным.

6 T hen he wrote a second letter to them, saying: If you are for me and will obey my voice, take the heads of the men, your master’s sons, and come to me at Jezreel by this time tomorrow. Now the king’s sons, seventy persons, were with the great men of the city, who were rearing them.

Тогда Ииуй написал им второе письмо, говоря: – Если вы на моей стороне и послушны мне, возьмите головы сыновей своего господина и завтра к этому времени приходите ко мне в Изреель. Царские сыновья, семьдесят человек, были со знатнейшими людьми города, которым было доверено их воспитание.

7 S o it was, when the letter came to them, that they took the king’s sons and slaughtered seventy persons, put their heads in baskets and sent them to him at Jezreel.

Когда пришло письмо, эти люди взяли царских сыновей и закололи их всех. Они положили их головы в корзины и послали к Ииую в Изреель.

8 T hen a messenger came and told him, saying, “They have brought the heads of the king’s sons.” And he said, “Lay them in two heaps at the entrance of the gate until morning.”

Когда посланец прибыл, он доложил Ииую: – Принесли головы царских сыновей. Ииуй приказал: – Сложите их в две кучи у входа в городские ворота до утра.

9 S o it was, in the morning, that he went out and stood, and said to all the people, “You are righteous. Indeed I conspired against my master and killed him; but who killed all these?

На следующее утро Ииуй вышел, встал перед народом и сказал: – Вы невиновны. Это я составил заговор против моего господина и убил его, но кто убил вот этих?

10 K now now that nothing shall fall to the earth of the word of the Lord which the Lord spoke concerning the house of Ahab; for the Lord has done what He spoke by His servant Elijah.”

Итак, знайте, что ни одно слово, которое Господь изрек против дома Ахава, не осталось неисполненным. Господь сделал то, что обещал через Своего слугу Елисея.

11 S o Jehu killed all who remained of the house of Ahab in Jezreel, and all his great men and his close acquaintances and his priests, until he left him none remaining. Ahaziah’s Forty-two Brothers Killed

И Ииуй перебил в Изрееле всех, кто еще оставался от дома Ахава, вместе со всеми его приближенными, близкими друзьями и священниками, никого не оставив в живых. Ииуй убивает родственников Охозии и Ахава

12 A nd he arose and departed and went to Samaria. On the way, at Beth Eked of the Shepherds,

После этого Ииуй тронулся в путь к Самарии. Он остановился в месте, которое называлось Бет-Экед пастуший.

13 J ehu met with the brothers of Ahaziah king of Judah, and said, “Who are you?” So they answered, “We are the brothers of Ahaziah; we have come down to greet the sons of the king and the sons of the queen mother.”

Там он встретил родственников Охозии, царя Иудеи, и спросил: – Вы кто? Они сказали: – Мы родственники Охозии и вышли приветствовать сыновей царя и сыновей царицы-матери.

14 A nd he said, “Take them alive!” So they took them alive, and killed them at the well of Beth Eked, forty-two men; and he left none of them. The Rest of Ahab’s Family Killed

– Взять их живыми! – приказал он. Их взяли живыми и закололи – сорок два человека, при колодце у Бет-Экеда. Он не оставил никого из них в живых.

15 N ow when he departed from there, he met Jehonadab the son of Rechab, coming to meet him; and he greeted him and said to him, “Is your heart right, as my heart is toward your heart?” And Jehonadab answered, “It is.” Jehu said, “If it is, give me your hand.” So he gave him his hand, and he took him up to him into the chariot.

Уйдя оттуда, он встретил Ионадава, сына Рехава, который шел ему навстречу. Ииуй приветствовал его и сказал: – Так же ли твое сердце верно моему, как мое твоему? – Да, − ответил Ионадав. – Если да, то дай мне руку, – сказал Ииуй. Он дал ему руку, и Ииуй помог ему взойти на колесницу.

16 T hen he said, “Come with me, and see my zeal for the Lord.” So they had him ride in his chariot.

Ииуй сказал: – Едем со мной. Ты увидишь мою ревность о Господе, – и повез его в своей колеснице.

17 A nd when he came to Samaria, he killed all who remained to Ahab in Samaria, till he had destroyed them, according to the word of the Lord which He spoke to Elijah. Worshipers of Baal Killed

Когда Ииуй прибыл в Самарию, он перебил всех, кто оставался там от дома Ахава. Он истребил их по слову, которое Господь сказал Илии. Ииуй уничтожает служителей Баала

18 T hen Jehu gathered all the people together, and said to them, “Ahab served Baal a little, Jehu will serve him much.

После этого Ииуй собрал весь народ и сказал им: – Ахав служил Баалу мало – Ииуй будет служить ему больше.

19 N ow therefore, call to me all the prophets of Baal, all his servants, and all his priests. Let no one be missing, for I have a great sacrifice for Baal. Whoever is missing shall not live.” But Jehu acted deceptively, with the intent of destroying the worshipers of Baal.

Итак, позовите ко мне всех пророков Баала, всех его служителей и всех его жрецов. Смотрите, чтобы пришли все до одного, потому что я хочу принести Баалу великую жертву. А кто не придет, тому не жить. Но Ииуй действовал с хитростью, желая истребить служителей Баала.

20 A nd Jehu said, “Proclaim a solemn assembly for Baal.” So they proclaimed it.

Он сказал: – Объявите праздничное собрание в честь Баала. И они возвестили о нем.

21 T hen Jehu sent throughout all Israel; and all the worshipers of Baal came, so that there was not a man left who did not come. So they came into the temple of Baal, and the temple of Baal was full from one end to the other.

Ииуй послал весть по всему Израилю, и все служители Баала явились, не осталось ни одного, кто бы не пришел. Они собирались в храме Баала, пока он не наполнился от одного конца до другого.

22 A nd he said to the one in charge of the wardrobe, “Bring out vestments for all the worshipers of Baal.” So he brought out vestments for them.

Ииуй сказал хранителю одежд: – Принеси одежды для всех служителей Баала. И он вынес для них одежды.

23 T hen Jehu and Jehonadab the son of Rechab went into the temple of Baal, and said to the worshipers of Baal, “Search and see that no servants of the Lord are here with you, but only the worshipers of Baal.”

Затем Ииуй и Ионадав, сын Рехава, вошли в храм Баала. Ииуй сказал служителям Баала: – Поищите и посмотрите, чтобы с вами здесь не было служителей Господа, а только служители Баала.

24 S o they went in to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings. Now Jehu had appointed for himself eighty men on the outside, and had said, “ If any of the men whom I have brought into your hands escapes, whoever lets him escape, it shall be his life for the life of the other.”

И они вошли, чтобы принести жертвы и всесожжения. А Ииуй расставил снаружи восемьдесят человек, предупредив их: – Если кто из вас позволит кому-нибудь из тех людей, которых я отдаю в ваши руки, спастись, он расплатится за это своей жизнью.

25 N ow it happened, as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, that Jehu said to the guard and to the captains, “Go in and kill them; let no one come out!” And they killed them with the edge of the sword; then the guards and the officers threw them out, and went into the inner room of the temple of Baal.

Как только Ииуй закончил приносить всесожжение, он сказал стражам и военачальникам: – Войдите и перебейте их, и пусть никто не спасется. И они перебили их мечами. Стражи и военачальники выбросили их тела наружу, а затем прошли во внутреннее святилище храма Баала.

26 A nd they brought the sacred pillars out of the temple of Baal and burned them.

Они вынесли из храма Баала священный камень и бросили его в огонь.

27 T hen they broke down the sacred pillar of Baal, and tore down the temple of Baal and made it a refuse dump to this day.

Они уничтожили священный камень Баала, разрушили храм Баала и сделали из него отхожее место, как это есть и до сегодняшнего дня.

28 T hus Jehu destroyed Baal from Israel.

Так Ииуй искоренил в Израиле почитание Баала.

29 H owever Jehu did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who had made Israel sin, that is, from the golden calves that were at Bethel and Dan.

Но он не отвернулся от грехов Иеровоама, сына Навата, к которым тот склонил Израиль, − от поклонения золотым тельцам Вефиля и Дана.

30 A nd the Lord said to Jehu, “Because you have done well in doing what is right in My sight, and have done to the house of Ahab all that was in My heart, your sons shall sit on the throne of Israel to the fourth generation. ”

Господь сказал Ииую: – Так как ты поступил хорошо, совершив то, что правильно в Моих глазах, и сделал с домом Ахава все, как Я хотел, твои потомки до четвертого поколения будут сидеть на престоле Израиля.

31 B ut Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of the Lord God of Israel with all his heart; for he did not depart from the sins of Jeroboam, who had made Israel sin. Death of Jehu

Но Ииуй не следил за тем, чтобы исполнять Закон Господа, Бога Израиля, от всего сердца. Он не отвернулся от грехов Иеровоама, к которым тот склонил Израиль. Конец правления Ииуя

32 I n those days the Lord began to cut off parts of Israel; and Hazael conquered them in all the territory of Israel

В те дни Господь начал уменьшать территорию Израиля. Хазаил разбил израильтян по всей их земле

33 f rom the Jordan eastward: all the land of Gilead—Gad, Reuben, and Manasseh—from Aroer, which is by the River Arnon, including Gilead and Bashan.

к востоку от Иордана, всю землю Галаада (область Гада, Рувима и Манассии), от города Ароера, что у реки Арнона, через область Галаада до области Башана.

34 N ow the rest of the acts of Jehu, all that he did, and all his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

Что же до прочих событий правления Ииуя, всего, что он сделал, и всего, чего он достиг, то разве не записаны они в «Книге летописей царей Израиля»?

35 S o Jehu rested with his fathers, and they buried him in Samaria. Then Jehoahaz his son reigned in his place.

Ииуй упокоился со своими предками и был похоронен в Самарии. Иоахаз, его сын, стал царем вместо него.

36 A nd the period that Jehu reigned over Israel in Samaria was twenty-eight years.

Ииуй царствовал над Израилем в Самарии двадцать восемь лет.
