1 C elebrate il Signore, perché egli è buono, perché la sua bontà dura in eterno.

¶ O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good because his mercy endures for ever.

2 S ì, dica Israele: «La sua bontà dura in eterno».

Let Israel now say that his mercy endures for ever.

3 S ì, dica la casa di Aaronne: «La sua bontà dura in eterno».

Let the house of Aaron now say, that his mercy endures for ever.

4 S ì, dicano quelli che temono il Signore: «La sua bontà dura in eterno».

Let those that fear the LORD say now, that his mercy is eternal.

5 N ella mia angoscia invocai il Signore; il Signore mi rispose e mi portò in salvo.

From a tight place I called upon JAH; and JAH answered me and set me in a wide place.

6 I l Signore è per me, io non temerò; che cosa può farmi l’uomo ?

The LORD is for me; I will not fear what man can do unto me.

7 I l Signore è per me, fra i miei soccorritori, e io vedrò quanto desidero sui miei nemici.

The LORD takes my part with those that help me; therefore I shall see my desire upon those that hate me.

8 È meglio rifugiarsi nel Signore che confidare nell’uomo;

It is better to wait upon the LORD than to wait upon man.

9 è meglio rifugiarsi nel Signore che confidare nei prìncipi.

It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.

10 T utte le nazioni mi avevano circondato; nel nome del Signore, eccole da me sconfitte.

All the nations compassed me about; but in the name of the LORD I will cut them off.

11 M i avevano circondato, sì, mi avevano accerchiato; nel nome del Signore, eccole da me sconfitte.

They compassed me about; yea, they laid hold of me; but in the name of the LORD I will cut them off.

12 M i avevano circondato come api, ma sono state spente come fuoco di spine; nel nome del Signore io le ho sconfitte.

They compassed me about like bees; they were quenched as the fire of thorns; for in the name of the LORD I will cut them off.

13 T u mi avevi spinto con violenza per farmi cadere, ma il Signore mi ha soccorso.

Thou hast thrust at me with violence that I might fall, but the LORD helped me.

14 I l Signore è la mia forza e il mio cantico, egli è stato la mia salvezza.

JAH is my strength and song and is become my saving health.

15 U n grido d’esultanza e di vittoria risuona nelle tende dei giusti: «La destra del Signore fa prodigi.

The voice of singing and saving health is in the tents of the righteous; the right hand of the LORD does valiantly.

16 L a destra del Signore si è alzata, la destra del Signore fa prodigi».

The right hand of the LORD is exalted; the right hand of the LORD does valiantly.

17 I o non morirò, anzi vivrò, e racconterò le opere del Signore.

I shall not die, but live and declare the works of JAH.

18 C erto, il Signore mi ha castigato, ma non mi ha dato in balìa della morte.

JAH has chastened me sore, but he has not given me over unto death.

19 A pritemi le porte della giustizia; io vi entrerò e celebrerò il Signore.

¶ Open unto me the gates of righteousness; I will go in through them; I will praise JAH.

20 Q uesta è la porta del Signore; i giusti entreranno per essa.

This gate is of the LORD; the righteous shall enter in.

21 T i celebrerò perché mi hai risposto e sei stato la mia salvezza.

I will praise thee; for thou hast heard me and art become my saving health.

22 L a pietra che i costruttori avevano disprezzata è divenuta la pietra angolare.

The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner.

23 Q uesta è opera del Signore, è cosa meravigliosa agli occhi nostri.

This is the LORD’s doing; it is marvellous in our eyes.

24 Q uesto è il giorno che il Signore ci ha preparato; festeggiamo e rallegriamoci in esso.

This is the day which the LORD has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

25 O Signore, dacci la salvezza! O Signore, facci prosperare!

Save now, I beseech thee, O LORD; O LORD, I beseech thee, cause us now to prosper.

26 B enedetto colui che viene nel nome del Signore. Noi vi benediciamo dalla casa del Signore.

Blessed be he that comes in the name of the LORD; from the house of the LORD we bless you.

27 I l Signore è Dio e risplende su di noi; legate la vittima della solennità e portatela ai corni dell’altare.

God is the LORD, who has shined on us; bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar.

28 T u sei il mio Dio, io ti celebrerò; tu sei il mio Dio, io ti esalterò.

Thou art my God, and I will praise thee; thou art my God, I will exalt thee.

29 C elebrate il Signore, poiché è buono, perché la sua bontà dura in eterno.

O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good, for his mercy endures for ever.
